i hope n:a avoids them for the most part.

but you don't fight anything besides Balder here

The monsters in the back are just backgrounds

It's like saying SF4 ruined Africa for you

Cool demo it was fun. I was hoping for some sheep to show up in the demo but hopefully the retail release will have fields full of grazing sheep.

the disappointing thing about those fights in bayo 2 are that they aren't a wall fight like jeanne in bayo 1 was and the only escalation is the spectacle that occurs in each fight, he doesn't actually get harder to fight each subsequent time

zzzz just activate witch time on every attack and easily blast through the fight if you're not playing on NSIC, i mean i can blast through bayo 1 now but jeanne and gracious and glorious are still a problem in your first playthrough of the game while never feeling that in bayo 2

Not able to play the demo yet, and while I like many Platinum games, does this play like the Transformers/MGRR mix that it looks like?

What a weird request, but OK, I'll humour you.

Favourite (real-time/action) combat systems: Soulsborne games and Nioh, followed by Dragon's Dogma, Monster Hunter, and Ys: Oath in Felghana/Origin.

Favourite character designs: uh, my characters in Fashion Souls ;) or my avatar (not playable though). But for a pre-set playable character, hmm, I like Alucard (Castlevania: SotN), Kain and Raziel (LoK Soul Reaver), Gabriel Belmont (Castlevania LoS), Athena (Borderlands: TPS), Shadow (FF6), Agrias (FFTactics), Chris Lightfellow (Suikoden 3), Orta (Panzer Dragoon)... to name a few with various art styles.

Favourite OSTs: my all-time favourite is Castlevania: SotN, probably followed by FFTactics, the Panzer Dragoon series, Bloodborne, Suikoden series, Wild ARMs series, Xenogears, Guilty Gear XX, FF6, Castlevania: Bloodlines... well I could go on.

Damn. That mirrors almost the majority of my favorites too. Although I have to laugh at this part:

Yeah, that gorgeous mushy brown [blue] everywhere with the stunning architecture of grey-and-brown [grey-and-blue] metal walls and stairs [and spires].... oh don't forget that beautiful sickly-beige skybox! :)

It practically mirrors exactly why I don't like the overall look of Bloodborne, yet you seem to think it's so amazing.

Finally bought a new PSP, but then pushed the demon onto someone else. Jesus.
This game feels so good! No surprise there. Finding the demo wasn't as simple as searching for it, as doing so takes you to the retail game's page. The demo link is buried in there.

I was about to come post about how the sword stays out when you cancel attacks, but I see that people beat me to it...

It's really noticeable with the heavy launcher, which isn't an attack that normally throws your sword.

So, why does 2B wear high heels? It seems extremely impractical while fighting to say the least.

We better get 9S some knee pads while we're at it.

It would also be safer if they were both wearing helmets.

Umm, you sure that isn't just the standard mash light attacks combo? Cuz the few moves vids I've seen haven't featured any delay input moves and I haven't found any myself despite trying to look for them. Like this vid for example. It features those air dash cancel moves, so it would be weird if the guy missed something as basic as delay input moves.

As for the moves that it resembles, Darksiders 2, particularly some of Deaths scythe combo moves come in mind. He has plenty of moves that puts spinning shit in front of him.

Oh, you're right. I never really paid that close attention to it.

And yeah, it was darksiders 2 that it was reminding me of since the ranged scythe attack was one of the upgrades.

So, why does 2B wear high heels? It seems extremely impractical while fighting to say the least.

The same reason she wears thigh-highs and a cloak which flips up at opportune moments to show her panties.

If you think about it, being that she is an android, she doesn't need to wear clothes at all, or have hair. I mean what's the point of designing her with hair besides giving her an excuse to rock a headband to keep it held back?

In fact if you were designing combat androids, why would you even give them human shapes? And why would they use swords? A four-legged shape like a bear would be much more stable, and a large cannon mounted on it's back would be much more efficient than a sword.

So the answer to your question is, stop thinking about it. :D

I bought final fantasy xv last night and played a couple of hours before playing this demo.

Now all I want to do is take my ps3 out of storage and replay nier.

Fuck.

I love the fact that changing the sword configurations basically changes how your moveset is

Man, all this talk of Automata makes me REALLY want to play the original Nier but i don't have a 360 or ps3. They need to freaking remaster it.

Loved it!!

It "feels" like a PS2 arcade/action game of yore, but with better graphics!

Sold!

Thats how Nier 1 felt to me! Nothing stood out when i played it but still completed the whole game (i have not completed a SP game for a long while, then and now).

The whole package was just simple and old school, and that charming soundtrack! I had to complete it and boy was the last section satisfying.

I bought Nier, hoping my friends would lend me their 360 to play it. They never came through, so now it's just sitting there catching dust... -_-

Pretty cool, even has unlockalble side routes including one that's opened by kicking the emergency ladder. Sold on this game, really like being able to pew pew while using melee attacks.

Actually, the spectacle dumbs down as well with each Lumen Sage fight.

Not a bad choice but Bayonetta 2 definetly has balance difficulty issues, its much easier than Bayo 1.

Never heard of this series before, but I downloaded the demo and just beat it. What a fun game! Pre-ordering now.

Yes! And like I said earlier, it also secretly feels like a sequel to Silent Bomber.

So. Bought.
What? Can you drop bombs and remotely trigger them like in Silent Bomber? I must have missed this.

I was really bored in the demo. The top down and side scrolling stuff was awful, IMO. I couldn't properly see her in the top down camera, meaning melee was hard to do. The game plays best when you can freely control the camera and lock onto stuff.

The environment design is bland and there wasn't any incentive to explore. It was just basically corridor after corridor with combat arenas in between. I unlocked a shortcut by lowering a bridge but what's the point in a linear action game? Unless this is going to play like a Souls game, why are there shortcuts?

I didn't like Neir 1 (music was tight as fuck though) so I think this probably won't be for me either. I like character action games, shmups, but I feel like this tries to do too much and isn't really good at anything except maybe being a playable anime by Platinum Games. I'll wait for the full game but don't feel very optimistic.

Loved the music though!

EDIT: Wait, you can change sword configurations/stances? As someone who hasn't followed the game, the demo doesn't explain or tutorialize much.

I would hope they dont, if only because the old game was a very divided game and people either super hate it or love it, and such a remastering effort might waste Yoko Taro's resource budget considering it would be SE footing the bill.

For those of us who can understand Yoko Taro's particular mindset and even more so really are into that kind of thing, its a gamble.

I would consider Drakengard 1 for example, unplayable in this day and age, even though i myself beat it years ago. It was below average at the time it released, but now..

Just tried the demo. I liked it. I heard of Nier before but wasn't even sure what kind of game it was TBH. I don't think I'll get it at launch but the demo definitely made me interested in the game.

Ok.....that demo was the best thing I played all year......you all complaining about the music are crazy, it's great. Perfect bar for visuals in my opinion pristine image quality on pro with 60 fps. pre ordered in a heartbeat.
