I've been pretty patient waiting for this presentation, but now I'm becoming downright antsy.

Think we will have to buy our VC collection again? :)

Well hopefully with the progress they've made in regards to an actual service they should simply allow you to own them as they're released if you have everything connected.

But, I'm not holding my breath. More discounts I'd imagine at the least.

Something is going to be wrong with the Switch that nobody is expecting and it will be a major talking point. Not sure exactly what it will be but there will be something.

Underclocked hardware that can't come close to xbox or PS4 and bad battery life will be poor is what will be wrong with it and we have had a month already to be prepared for that bomb to drop.

Retro will not make a Metroid game after the bomb known as Federation Farce.

Nintendo will not make a Metroid game after the desecration of the franchise known as Other M.

Does anyone out there have the balls to make a Metroid game anymore?

I'm expecting third party support to be predictably terrible upfront but hopefully Nintendo does enough to get the platform going and I imagine the announcement of Pokémon Stars will be a wake up call for 3DS developers to move on.

Retro is working on open world exploration based Metroid Prime. Believe.

Talking point on forums or the kind of talking point you can tell non-gaming friends without them giving you a "Who the fuck cares?" face?

Hmmm Metroid already feels pretty "open" to me, and I think the series staple of being able to access new areas through item acquisition may be hindered if they did something like... well probably what you're thinking of? :p

Likely.

But they do need to upgrade and fix it cause the Wii U emulation wasn't that great for many titles. At the very least Nintendo should have cheap upgrade fee.

The VC stuff for New 3DS and NES-Mini are so much better and hopefully the standard of what we'll get going forward with Switch.

I'm really starting to think there is a chance Metroid is real and is made by Human Head Studios and one of the Japan teams at Nintendo.

Why Human Head?

Obviously I'm not talking about Skyrim reskinned with Metroid assets. I think it would be a natural evolution of the series to present a single uninterrupted "world" that you can explore further and faster as you acquire new powerups.

Human Head's most famous game is a Sci-fi FPS about a bounty hunter and they were working on a Nintendo game. It was cancelled as far as we know though.

I do like having segmented areas, I think it helps with environmental variety. Of course it could work if done right though. I just think Metroid Prime and the others were as open as they need to be, but we'll see what they do.

.........if anything :(

You really think that? I think Zelda will settle somewhere in the 80s because major review sites will slam it for not being Western enough in its open-worldness....

If Zelda settles in the 80s, that would be disappointing. I feel like a lot of the games media and fans would be depressed. Has a Zelda ever reviewed that low?

Maturity, bitches.
Do we have any idea about when preorders go live and who'll be carrying?

I'm in the UK, so I'm assuming Amazon and GAME are my best bets? Will Nintendo actually produce enough?

Eurogamer spoke to their insider about stock allocation in Europe, but the insider had no idea so Eurogamer has logically concluded there is no stock for the European launch.

Skyward Sword reviewed well from what I recall despite really only being a 7-8/10 game. Breath of the Wild looks several leagues improved from that so I doubt it will review poorly.

They did let you keep them from Wii to WiiU, with mynintendo accounts now they will know what games you own on 3DS and WiiU, they may have an upgrade fee but I dont think they will make you buy them full price again

Skyward Sword is a solid 10/10.
Your opinion is wrong.

Only thing that some would dock it points for is if it suffers the same open-world game design of there being a whole lot of nothing to do.

Other than thaaat it looks amazing so far.
