Considering how many already own PlayStation products I find the idea that folks already invested in this gen will buy Scorpios for the best multiplat experience unlikely. It needs unique software experiences.

You know part of me has to laugh at the XBox gamers that want MS to hit up a different Japanese company for an exclusive (like From)... Why? If you like Japanese games, you shouldn't have bought an XBox. It's really that simple.
If you like Nintendo games, you buy Nintendo platforms. If you like third parties, Nintendo is not the way to go. If you like JRPG's, you buy either a Nintendo or Sony machine. You don't buy an XBox. Get the picture?
You signed up for Halo, Forza, and such, and whatever Western exclusives MS could wrangle. You don't get that many Japanese games. And after seeing the "result" of the partnerships of MS with Japanese companies, be prepared to get even less of them. Enjoy what you do have, which is good multiplayer and games as a service.

I think you need to distinguish between Xbox gamers here on gaf and Xbox gamers in the real world. The real world people aren't asking for Japanese exclusives. Gamers here who have a different taste and also happen to own an Xbox are asking for it
Like for example, Lost odyssey was free for a whole month. How many people do you think downloaded it? 15-20k( just a guess tbh). Out of 20+ million. The game isn't anywhere near the top played lists( something like dead rising is on the last row)

So while what you typed is very much bullshit, what you tried to criticize is not.

If you take Forza, Halo, Gears of Wars and MP centered games from that list you end up with a very poor list of exclusives since 2009, IMO.

MS dumped 10 Halo games and 8 Forza games for Xbox360 and Xbox ONE
Why don't you include handheld systems. Just be fair. There have been 7 uncharted games since 2007( 4 mainline, 1 remaster and 2 vita)

I challenged him on it earlier in the thread and came the conclusion that it's pointless. He's under the impression that his list is perfectly acceptable, when in my opinion, it contains too many inconsistencies to accurately reflect the announcement-to-release ratio of newly announced games of both Sony and Microsoft from their E3 2014 conferences.

I think this is kind of silly. People who buy an Xbox "sign up" for whatever games are being marketed for the system. It could be western, Japanese, Martian whatever. The concept that players who are unhappy with the lineup of games on their system of choice should just deal with it is contrived. Surely MS will continue to milk it's bread and butter franchises but games like Phantom Dust, SSO and Scalebound were announced, released and worked on for a reason.

I am curious to see if MS says anything about Crackdown 3 anytime soon as sort of a subtle confidence boost in response to this cancellation.
They've reiterated Crackdown 3 will launch this year in the wake of cancelling Scalebound...

Even with him being under an NDA, doesn't stop him from him disclosing his general mood. Just seems like a project which was super problematic which ended in a non-toxic split.
Anyone who buys a system for an "announced" game is taking a gamble. You probably should have waited to see if it came out first, if that is what you wanted. I waited, and am glad I did. MS won't be getting my business - the lineup doesn't appeal to me enough. Not really that much of a Halo and Forza fan, though I appreciate they are good games.
I think Sea of Thieves looks interesting, but not a system seller for me, personally.

Ya thanks, I haven't tuned in since yesterday and should've checked before writing that. I'll go ahead and move the goal posts some and say that I wonder if MS will show anything concrete soon but I doubt they'd say that if it was anywhere close to being cancelled.

Your persecution complex is silly, The LAst Guardian cancellation thread hi 140 pages before it was locked when Sony said it was not cancelled....It's normal.
It's big news when a AAA exclusive that was one of the big games at 3 e'3s gets cancelled after years of development.
Most of what you are saying is besides the point. It's all fine and dandy to wait until a game is released to invest into its platform, but a significant portion if not a majority of console purchases are done in the anticipation of future games. Don't act like Xbox owners who aren't satisfied with just Gears, Forza and Halo have made some grand folly and played themselves.
The announcement thread for Scalebound was what, 14-20 pages?
What was the announcement page length for Bayonetta 2 or Bloodborne or Horizon Zero Dawn?
Compared to a number of similar profile games on GAF, Scalebound was not getting the attention it's cancelation suggests.
