So RE7, GR 2, KH 2.8, Yakuza 0 and Tales of Berseria release in the same week... -_-*

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
I'm getting all except Yakuza 0.

- It's been long since I played a brand new KH game so I'm excited for 2.8, more specifically for 0.2

- Tales of Berseria seems interesting so I'm going to also get this day one, not to mention the game has glowing import reviews

- Gravity Rush 2 to support Kat

- I'll be getting RE7 and DQVIII down the line

I'm not getting RE7 and I'm still playing through Gravity Rush Remastered, so I'll probably pick up GR2 later in the year when it goes on sale.

I'm definitely picking up Tales of Berseria and MAYBE KH 2.8 but I'm not 100% on that yet.

I'm getting nothing, just finished up Final Fantasy XV & haven't even started playing Watch Dogs 2 or Dishonored 2 that I received for Christmas. Will be waiting for price drops on all these games & catch up during the Summer. Next big game purchase for me is probably Horizon Zero Dawn, already got it pre-ordered on Amazon.

It seems I'm the only getting Hitman The Complete First Season, I've been waiting for the full physical release since it was announced, really excited!

Evolved1

make sure the pudding isn't too soggy but that just ruins everything
I'll try to get through RE7 in two days, but everything stops when the For Honor beta drops -- life will stop for those three days.

Pre-ordered GR2.

I want Yakuza but need my PS3 back so I can finish 3-5 before buying more in the series.

Also want KH2.8 but too much in my backlog anyway and KH3 doesn't have a release date yet so I am fine with waiting for a sale.

I had to cancel Dragon Quest VIII and Fate Extella. Will wait till march for those. I'm getting all of the rest that comes out at the end of the month tho.

As a KH 'fanboy' I'll probably only be getting KH 2.8 on release and will wait for more impressions for RE7 and Tales. I need to know for sure RE7 really does feel more RE than Outlast and that Tales is better than Zesteria and Xillia. Yakuza 0 is something I want to dive into eventually, but I am not sure if it is where I want to start the series. I have been told mixed things.

not sure what you've been told, but it's made to be the perfect spot to jump onto the series - and kiwami (1 remake) is due this summer!

i love 4 so much

One minute I'm training a hostess, the next I am collecting garbage for some homeless dudes. Then I'm in a Colosseum fighting to the death in an underground red light district type setting.

The game is amazing.
The fighting has so much damn impact, always makes me wince and scream "OHH!"

The amount of detail in the city is CRAZY.

Of these games I'm only getting Gravity Rush 2 day one.

Already played Yakuza 0. Resident Evil 7 I want to wait until I get a PSVR, which considering my present situation is a year out at least. I've never played a Kingdom Hearts game before so not too interested. I might get 1.5/2.5 later down the line though if there's nothing to play. Tales I might get, but only for a discount price.

After that demo of Tales of berseria, I can comfortably wait until it goes on big sale. I'm definitely getting Yakuza 0 now and Gravity Rush 2 a little later.

Also, will get kingdom Hearts 2.8 after the collection comes out in March.

Gravity Rush 2 > Kingdom Hearts 2.8 > Dragon Quest VIII > Yakuza 0 in terms of what I'm expected to buy and play this month. The rest look promising but can wait. Best week in games in recent memory.

No, no, you start with Yakuza Zero, get Kiwami in the summer and THEN come back to the rest of the games.

Rip japanese games. So many bombs coming. As a bonus Nioh gets to bomb a week later. Expect an article later on probably from polygon talking about how japanese games fail to sell in todays market and not the fact that they released 27 titles the same damn day.

As a bonus they also chose the end of the month for release so the titles will look like failures in the npd as well because sales will be split between the final week of january and feb resulting in nothing charting outside most likely RE7.

I have really good discounts on Resident Evil 7 and Kingdom Hearts 2.8...

But I don't know if I'll be keeping them. I have to decide between them or Gravity Rush 2. Only one can survive :(

I'll likely end up with Gravity Rush, since Kingdom Hearts I need to play the PS4 remasters to know what the heck is going on. Plus RE7 I can wait on till the summer.

Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!
Kind of unsure if I will get any actually.

RE7 is most likely, but I couldn't handle ten minutes of the demo in VR which has me holding off for impressions and reviews.

Yakuzo 0. After playing Y1-3 I feel I am good on the series. Just burned out and I already own Y4 and 5 if I ever feel the urge to play more. Good get for fans I suppose though.

Berseria. Maybe, I am kind of in the mood for Tales, its been awhile...

GR2. Just platinumed GR1r recently, I can wait for a sale.

KH. Nah.
DQ8. Played on PS2, I'm good.

Itnis indeed completely insane release strategy and schedule. RE7, P5, and of course Horizons and ME:A are immune to this but literally every single other game may bomb. This does make me sad since I really want Yakuza 0 and GR2 to do well which they obviously will not.

Bamco in particular what the hell were they thinking with latest Tales? Why would they specifically place that release date vs say late April or early May?!

If they're quality they will have the legs to do fine though. At least on a profit perspective.

It's so hard to choose!! I want Yakuza because I loved 5. I want to support Gravity Rush also. But I want KH and Tales but I don't have time for all of them or money. Plus February follows it up with NiOh and Horizon as definite purchases.

Resident Evil 7 is a must for me. I will grab Gravity Rush 2 when I'm done with that and Yakuza 0 later down the line now that it's confirmed Yakuza Kiwami and 6 are getting localised.

Not gonna play KH 2.8 till I get through the 1.5 & 2.5 remasters coming later this year.

Have to have RE7, Yakuza 0, and GR 2 though.

The dilemma for me in the choices are between Tales of Berseria and KH 2.8.

Now, even though I'm a big KH fan, having played all of them, I don't really want to pay $60 for only technically a short episode of new content in the 2.8 triple bundle. I'm pretty sure the cinematic of KH-X Back cover will be for the people that haven't played X-chained, and I've already played Dream Drop Distance on the 3DS so I'm not too hype to replay it again for now. Therefore, seeing as 0.2 Fragmentary Passage isn't really a "full" game and might just be 5 to 10 hours of content at best....then I'll just wait for that until later.

Due to that reasoning, I'm jumping at Berseria first unless someone can give some concrete info on the full length of 0.2 Fragmentary Passage.

Funny that GR2 got delayed in order not to get eaten up by the big releases but still gets put in the same release date of these other games.

I'm getting Yakuza 0 to show support and hope it sells well, and RE7 cuz it looks pretty good and got a good price on it. Skipping GR2 and will probably get the new Tales game on sale sometime. :D

Easy week for me.

giphy.gif

I was listening to this when I saw your gif and it was a perfect moment lol!

Easy choice for me as well, only Yakuza 0, and 2 weeks later on its release day, Nioh. I'll give GR2 a fair shot tho when it's on some PSN sale to support it if only a little.

Just remember. You don't have to buy every game day one. Just buy the ones that you are for sure interested in and complete that first. Chances are all of these games drop in price after a couple of months.

Ain't this the truth. Eventually I was gonna get all of these (except maybe resident evil).

My only concern is: when thinking of developing sequels and whatnot, aren't the first few week sales used as an indicator to make the decision?

And while I do see doom and gloom coming. I myself have RE7 and Y0 preordered with the intention of getting Nioh as well. Where Im gonna find time to play this stuff. Havent thought that far ahead.

I know the feels - I've been changing my mind for the last six months on what to buy in for the first half of 2017. In fact I've spent half of the year's budget already in January so I'm basically screwed.

Here's what I picked up so far (in $AU) -

The Last Guardian $40 - was half price so I bought it seeing as it was a PS4 exclusive
Dungeon Travelers 2 $45 - Collecting Vita games now before they go out of stock
Yakuza 0 $65 - preordered because it's my favourite series
Yakuza Ishin $50 - ordered this in case 0 becomes a big hit and people start ordering past games.
Dragon Quest VIII $50 - been meaning to play this for 10 years so may as well not wait any longer.

That's $250 in January!

For the rest of the year my planning is as follows -

Feb - Nioh $65 - going to get this because I like Ninja Gaiden and Dark Souls

Later when discounted

Persona 5 $30 - going to finish Persona 4 first and then decide on this.
Nier:Automata $30 - i am not feeling this game based off previews and stuff from the demo, so ill be watching reviews and streams to decide if its for me.
Planet Coaster $30 - looks amazing but ill wait for a little bigger discount and for them to patch it up first before diving in.

That's 2017 for me! (Aside from trying to pick up vita and 3ds titles on the cheap...) I also want to get a backup Vita and 3DS on the cheap too so I'm feeling the financial pressure.

It's a shame seeing so many fondly regarded Japanese gaming franchises commit seppuku like this.

They'll all find some kind of niche audience... but they won't be expanding beyond it (diminishing returns) and they'll be seeing far less of a Day 1 audience than they could have expected otherwise. Especially with RE7 nabbing most of the media attention.

There is only one word to describe the decision to crowd the last week of January with all of these releases... ASININE.

I still haven't finished Yakuza 5 so I don't really need Yakuza 0 now, but I really want to support this game, so I'll probably get it day one. next will be Gravity Rush 2 even though just like Yakuza 0, I probably won't play it righaway since I still have a bunch of games I haven't finished.

these 2 seems like the game that I like that need extra support from day 1 sales.

I'll get KH2.8 eventually especially since it's the one collection where I haven't play all the games in it. but it's really not in as dire state as Yakuza and GR2 series

Gravity Rush 2 and Resident Evil takes priority. Killer App for VR is a must buy if you have PSVR the demo is unbelievable in VR

Later Berseria

Still at the middle of zesteria and strugling to finish it
