Horizon Zero Dawn SPOILERS Thread

Arrow spamming does really not look too hot and even less against human cattle. Water isn't amazing either. The rest is looking really good though.

Oh and lip sync looks fucked sometimes and secondary npc conversations still look rough to me. ME2 or at least 3 rough to me. At least that one before the human camp extermination (lol).

Do we know if this horizon bro is on ps4 or ps4 pro?

Performance looks really solid sometimes even in streaming. If it's base ps4 it doesn't look bad.

Still having doubts about shooting gameplay eh, since the very first gameplay that showed it. Not prioritizing this over Zelda or MEA yet.

Changing time of day on the fly or was that some photo mode?

Don't know what to make of it so far besides I hope guerilla never wastes their time in another kill zone again, looks like they did well and found the lane they should be in for now on.

If those conversations with npc hold no weight I'll probably skip right past them. I think I might suffer from add though so there is that, there was a time when I was younger where I would talk to every npc.

It's played on PS4 amateur.

Aww, I missed the cauldron. What was it like? Were there puzzles?

What's that white meter that shows up when Aloy's shooting arrows?

What's that effect where sounds get all muted, does that happen when she's hurt?

I'm finding the way Aloy talks to herself intensely annoying :(

The robodino animations are fucking great.

I mean at least rolling gives you invincibility frames.

Im not sure why he thinks the thunderjaw wont attack if he keeps shooting. Should take 1 shot and then run

I was joking because the dude can't walk through a town without rolling half the distance.

25,000 human employees? Why mention "human"? seems like thier's the machines, humans, and a new species that looked human but are not.

Zero dawn was th name of a project that was supposed to get rid of a glitch that was found in the ancient robots roaming around.

This story is pretty great so far. At least it's really impressed me. Aloy is a fantastic character and I feel attached to all the main characters.

Some mild story spoilers:

The Proving really feels like a monumental event. Like I'm about to embark on the Hunger Games and only 1 winner will make it.

I also liked that a tribal elder explained what happened to the world. The open world and its story here are well thought out, like the Witcher.

Holy shit.

Matriarch Teersa (one of the powerful tribe elders and the only one that likes Aloy lol) just revealed to me where Aloy came from.

Major story spoilers.

She says that Aloy has no mother. She was born of the sacred mountain/of the Goddess/All-Mother (the deity they worship) and where she inhabits. She was born the day All-Mother slew the Metal Devil, the king of the machines back in the time where there was a Great War between the machines and the faithful humans that refused to be ruled by them (and allied with All-Mother). Teersa found Aloy here, but the other matriarchs believed a dark power placed her there, and thought of her as cursed from then on.

I entered the room where she found Aloy, and Aloy approached the door beyond which the Goddess was supposed to inhabit. A synthetic computer voice tried to scan my body but told my identity couldn't be verified. Teersa says I need to clear the "corruption" within for the mountain to let me open the door.

Meanwhile people just tried to assassinate me and I look like a woman wearing more normalish clothing that I have no idea why.

I have no idea what the fuck is going on but this is cool as fuck

Gets even more interesting from what I saw on a stream. All I'll said is this a sci-fi story.

Wow, I just skim read The Lamp's last post, and while I'm out of here from this s point on, that looks like some nice meaty storytelling & lore building!

With this Horizon has finally gone from a game I did not care for to a game that is firmly second on my to play list, regardless of how it reviews.

It's built up over time, particularly helped by the glowing preview thread. I now start a blackout of the game until I pick it up.

This is great to hear , thanks Lamp.

Anyone send me cauldron videos or stills , i completely missed on them , shouldn't have slept...

After about 9 hours of farting around doing side quests and collecting mats to build bigger pouches n shit, the world is finally opening up from its initial starting point (which is already pretty big)

I stopped right when you get the ability to program and then ride the dinobots for quicker travel since the fast travel system requires a certain item to use.

Minor complaints -

- I don't give a fuck about what's going on. There's way more dialogue trees than I expected and more often than not I'm hammering the X button to get through them. So far the story really hasn't grabbed me, but then again I feel like I haven't really gotten deep into it yet. Still got the gist though.

- The game needs a lock on when you go toe to toe with your spear. More often than not the camera gets a bit messy in these situations. The bow is fucking sweet and ideal for most situations though, same with the tripwire and trap system

- some of the facial expressions look pretty derpy with some wooden movement to go along with them

Well it is an RPG, not really sure why that is a surprise. Also if you are hammering X to get through the dialogue, then you probably won't get into the story at all and could miss important parts of the story.

Like you say, you are early on, maybe give it a chance to pick up or if the story is not your thing, then hopefully you enjoy the gameplay.

Let's put it this way....

I've been having more fun playing Yakuza 0.

I thought there is a lock on while using the spear, as she used to do the lunge attack everytime the machines are further away.

So after 9 hours , the combat still feels good or like been there done that??

Sound good thanks for the impressions and spoils

You're probably thinking of the takedown where there is real wide window for and you don't need to be real close to do it. Also you'll auto lock when doing a critical hit when the enemy is down. There is no lock system.

It's a surprise because I love RPGs and I love a good story. I never hammer away at shit. It just hasn't grabbed me. At all.
