Horizon Zero Dawn SPOILERS Thread

But it's very fun to play. It feels great, I like the quest system, skills and leveling. I like the loot and crafting and seeking out certain types of animals and Bots for parts or skins or bones. All of the side quests have been worth playing because they reward you well and lead to interesting characters. It looks absolutely stunning and the music is very subtle and beautiful (Skyrim, Oblivion, Witcher, Willow shit with occasional electronic stuff thrown in).

Just making sure y'all dont think now Im just gonna shit on the game. It's a great game. It just aint the second coming. At all.

You're probably thinking of the takedown where there is real wide window for and you don't need to be real close to do it. Also you'll auto lock when doing a critical hit when the enemy is down. There is no lock system.

Oh ok , That would be it. Any interesting images or videos to share??

and how would you compare it (if it's even possible) to those others rpgs with same play time ? did you get into the stories ?
i mean, for example, with 9 hour you could be near the end of act 1 in witcher 3 (for the most obvious example)

I say those other RPGs shit all over this one story wise at least. And no one can top Witcher until CDPR do it themselves with Cyberpunk.

Yakuza 0 certainly does story telling better.

I mean it's Guerrilla. I wasn't expecting my head to explode anyway. It's still really fun though.

I'm avoiding most of this thread as I am behind others and don't want spoilers. But those playing on hard or under answer me this:

So I'm playing on very hard and I read that resources are harder to come by so I am hoping that some of you playing on lesser difficulty can answer me the question of how much stuff you get per kill. I normally get like 1-3 shards a kill on top of other loot. When I get led herbs it filled a small piece of the bar, it will take like 10-15 herbs to fill the whole thing up. Getting hit by the enemies in the first area takes two whole bars of health. Is there a video out there that shows players gathering stuff so I can directly compare?

Appreciate the impressions. But i must ask: what game is the second coming to you? You do realize the GG didn't make most of the story, just the setting. So to say it's "A GG game so what do you expect" is a bit loaded there. And what types of settings resonate with you? I feel HZD concept may be a bit too radical.

Examples of second comings of christ in gaming according to Musician:

SMB 3
MGS
Chrono Trigger
Half Life 2
re4
BioShock
Metroid Prime
Oblivion
Max Payne 3
Red Dead Redemption

Horizon doesn't touch any of those to me.

lamp seems much more impressed with the story than you though, update us as you progress. I would imagine if you are doing side quest and exploring you've hardly touched the main story. Come back at 40-50% with updates. I watched that opening and first gameplay with little aloy and felt that was a really strong starting point, especially compared to some of the games you mentioned.

Is it true that all of the items offered in the Digital Deluxe Edition can be found in game?

How hard would it be to grind for this armor set

6tDRE5z.png
It requires 760 metal shards and 1 grazer heart

Mind you I had low expectations for a story from Guerilla. Lol. It's not the best story in video games, but it's well done and engrossing and I did not expect this much thought put into it.

760 doesn't take THAT long especially if you sell stuff. Not sure about Grazer hearts. Probably a rare (blue) pickup from a dinobot and those aren't hard to find.

Yes, loot is color coded.

An old tribal elder was explaining to children how the world came to be.

Major major story spoilers.

Paraphrasing and remembering these details from yesterday:

She says that in the beginning, there was All-Mother, the Goddess, who created man, beast, and machine. Over time, some humans began to rely on machines serving them. They grew powerful with the machines and built monumental civilizations and creations. The humans who put their faith in the machines are called the faithless. Those who resisted (almost in an Amish-like manner) and aligned with All-Mother, became the Nora tribe (Aloy's tribe) and others you see. This happened when the machines grew so powerful, the faithless were victims to them, and the machines were ruled by a king called the Metal Devil. He plotted to murder All-Mother and her faithful, but the tribes gathered on her mountain and prayed. It was said then that All-Mother struck them down and eradicated the humans of Metal (those who aligned with the machines). But their sins couldn't be eradicated, so ruins of the Metal Era remain strewn throughout the lands. They're considered tainted, and braves from the Aloy tribe are not allowed to visit Metal Ruins or associate with that in anyway, otherwise they are cast out. Some tribes have no problem scavenging Metal treasures in the ruins, however. Because Aloy was apparently born at the site where All-Mother murdered the Metal Devil, Aloy was considered an outcast from birth.

Aloy trains her entire life into adulthood for regaining her brave status in the Nora tribe in a trial called The Proving. Think Hunger Games. Braves train for years to win this competition. Any who survive, including outcasts, are welcomed as braves.

Aloy wins the Proving but almost everyone is immediately ambushed and murdered by outside tribesman who seem to have access to metal technology and are trying to assassinate Aloy because she looks like someone who doesn't seem to fit in this time period to me (not sure).

Rost, the outcast in the intro who raises Aloy into adulthood and realizes he must separate from her once she's a brave, ends up sacrificing himself to save Aloy while he and many others die in the explosion of the ambush.

Other details are unknown to me right now.

Sorry for the stupid and unnecessary maths, but here goes : someone said in this thread that he was at 20% in 6 hours. Now it may feel like a lot, but if it doesn't count the sidequests it would actually be pretty good for a main quest (30 hours roughly).

However The Lamp did a sidequest and it actually added to the overall percentage. Which means, the main quest doesn't equal 100% (I read 54% somewhere, but no idea if it's legit). Considering all that, wouldn't that mean that the main quest might be on the shorter side? 20-ish hours?

(I understand that this reasoning is flawed and could go in a lot of different ways, just trying to get a sense of the main quest)

That was me. I'm gonna track the % added as I progress in main and side quests and report back to see if the increment is consistent.

I have no idea if this is gameplay people have already seen because I didn't watch media for this game in the past year, but here it is. I'm not the most elegant player lol. I even accidentally detonated my own trap. But here's the fun. Quote.

Would you consider Withcer 3 a second coming then? Just curious because I love that game, probably my top 3 this gen but I don't consider it anything ground breaking or reinvent the wheel. As long as everything is well crafted that is all I am asking for. Not every game need to re invent the wheel, witcher 3 certainly didn't.

put ] at the end of email.

And nice combat going on with the big machine on youtube stream.

Yep, my mistake opening the chat there. God, people really take game wars seriously, so much hate within themselves.

Anyway, that deathbringer tho. Freaking terrifying.

Man I'm pretty sad this game doesn't have a 60fps with lower res and lesser quality effects tbh. I still have it fully paid of but eh.

Do the modifications on outfits change the look of the outfits?

That's what I was hoping - because if outfits are just outfits that's a bit lame.

They have different variations of the same armor, light, medium, heavy or something similar. That will change the look a bit, but mods don't change the look.
