Microsoft announced Xbox Game Pass subscription service

Pretty interesting. I wonder what they will use to determine how long a game stays in the service. Will it be by popularity or based on the publisher? I am also curious if this will work like EA Access where you download the game or will it be more akin to PS Now where the games are streamed.

Damn this is awesome. Interested to see the list of games. EA Access but for Xbox in general.

Competition is great.

That's really excellent.
No streaming, BC, and not overpriced.

Sony and Nintendo should look at it...

Downloading the games ala EA access make this tempting to do every couple months to play the smaller titles I miss out on.

*You get a discount on DLC too? Definitely interested.

So you just get to rent these games, so am I wrong in thinking this is just some sort of glorified demo suite for $10 a month?

Sounds awesome but I'm curious:

1) How good the discounts will be for buying the games you want to keep permanently?
2) How transparent they will be about what/when games will cycle in and out?

I would hate to be in the middle of a game and have it yanked out. If there was a good discount and at least one week notice, that would be great.

Ea access is awesome. This is like that only lots more games.

Ditto on EA Access but I am willing to bet that for someone like me there is not much there. I already own a large portion of the X1 library and have most of the BC games that I care to play. Now for a first time buyer or casual player this service holds a lot more value. Either way a great idea and a reasonable price. Especially if they offer the annual plan for less.

That sounds like a great offer, doesn't it?

Depends. If most of those games are $10 or less used older titles or games they have run on sale for $5 in the past...

Seems a little pointless to me. I wouldn't pay $10/mo for a bunch of older games I might not even play. Would rather just buy them as you want to play them.

So you pay $120 a year for this and $60 a year for live?

Marketing cracks me up:

"One of the best things about Xbox Game Pass is that you can discover and download the full titles directly on your Xbox One."

That's like saying, one of the best things about a banana is that it tastes like a banana and you can eat it.

Anyway, awesome stuff. EA Access is a win in my book and I'll subscribe to this probably too.

Sounds great in theory.
I'll wait and see how many games are in I'm likely to play or haven't got already.

Great idea, especially cycling games in and out. But couldn't they have chosen some better initial examples to highlight the library?

I mean not terrible games, but I'm not like "oh damn, they let us play Terraria??? Gears of War???"

Did PS Now change to a flat fee? I thought it was something ridiculous for a 3 hour rental or 24 hour rental or am I miss remembering?

Wow, so this is PlayStation Now, but better in most ways.

Although you still have to download and install the full game. With PSNow it's like buffering a Netflix selection.

Still though, I hope this gives Sony the kick in the pants to lower prices, and expand the library to PS4 games too. If not over Gaikai then locally
