Has anyone here tried any of the non-Hori Switch stands? I wasn't even aware that there were already any others besides the officially licensed one, but then I looked at Amazon and saw that there were a good 6 or 7 alternative brands and designs.

Anyone want to suggest a case that can carry the Switch, Joy Cons, games, and charger? I almost bought the official game case today, but then I realized I wanted something that was all in one for travel.

I preordered the Link's Tunic case back when it first went up at Best Buy, it was only available for shipping. A few weeks back it entered the "preparing" phase with an estimated arrival date of March 10th. It was annoying it was arriving so late but whatever.

It still says "preparing" and has now changed to April 4th. WTF?

I went with this case by Butterfox. It also comes in black and in blue, but those are currently sold out.

It has more than enough storage for any chargers, games, cables, and other small accessories you might need to bring with you. I also really appreciate how indiscreet it is. A lot of the Switch cases very much announce "Hey! There's a Switch inside this case!", and I don't like that.

Thanks, I've got the Hori case, but I think I'm going to pick this up. I really like the Hori case, but I want one with the accessory pouch.

I really like their 3DS XL case as well. Might look into picking that up too.

Perfect. I'll grab one when they're back in stock. Thanks!

Only case I could find, it costs way too much but I like blue...I guess.

EDIT: It shakes around inside a little. Doesn't seem that protected.

Anyone know what the long thin rectangular slot is in the bottom of the RDS case? It looks like it could maybe hold a single wrist strap, but even that doesn't really fit (protrudes out too much).

I've wondered that as well. Maybe a microfiber cloth goes there? My earbuds wouldn't even fit that small space.

My Sheikah Slate Pouch holds everything I need. Can't be more happy about it.

Hi guys,

Sorry that I didnt use desktop PC at all recently (because of Zelda!) so I somehow missed the PMs on my phone. My apologies.

I referred to this thread on GAF for my purchase.

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1334910

The wall charger is this Anker 18W USB A to C Wall Charger, which barely fits in the Sheikah Slate pouch if you put your Switch in the right direction. I am eyeing on a smaller alternative as well.
But it does the job really nice. Output is enough for me to play Zelda and not losing charges.

https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B016LO4UTA/

I also ordered this Anker Powerline+ USB A to C Cable according to the spreadsheet from a Googler that gets referred by lots of Gaffers in the suggestion thread. Good quality with nice packaging. No complaints. The only issue is that the 6ft ver. is showing OOS on Canadian Amazon so I went with the 3ft for on-the-go and the ghetto 6ft for my bedroom. Very affordable too. I believe it is up there in stock on US Amazon for you folks in the state.

https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01GN0M6NE/

The black flat box is just a box of a pair of earbuds + a microfibre screen cloth.

I bought this case since all the Legend of Zelda cases were sold out. I'm enjoying it so far. looks sleek and feels sturdy so I don't worry about it breaking my switch. I also enjoy the little pouch on top, I use it to carry a cleaning cloth and the wrist strap things for the joy-cons. The only thing I don't like is that I don't have room for the charging cord, but I think a standard usb-c cord will fit in the case pouch, just not the bulky one that came with the system. I highly recommend this case if you're just looking for a simple case that gets the job done.

EDIT: only $20 too.

Seconded. Seriously folks, get this one over the official case unless you like damaging your shit in transit.

Yeah, it's a pretty small space. I couldn't even get my earbuds to fit in there. The most useful thing I've found that fits that space is a microfiber cloth.

Cancelled my RDS Zelda case through Amazon (turns out it wasn't slated to ship until the end of April!), and ordered the plain traveler's case (what I really wanted) from Target. Free shipping and Red Card savings, I'll have it on the 14th.

Oh, and my USB-C and wall plug haven't shipped from Amazon yet despite both being in stock. Apparently free shipping means they sit on your items for a few days instead of sending them out.

The official switch case from Nintendo is back up in Amazon USA

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N226BBW/?tag=neogaf0e-20

If anyone is still interested

Seriously.. it's terrible
It will make do until I find a better solution, but there is no room in it for anything other than the switch and some games and even then doesn't feel like it gives much protection

Honestly around the house I've been using it just to hold my games and extra joycons / rails

in terms of chargers, what other charger should I be that works best and is ultra compact? would the charger cable also work as a TV out? or do I NEED the dock for TV out?
Until someone cracks/recreates whatever Nintendo is doing with the dock (or they make another TV out solution or license it), yeah the dock is the only way. And to use the dock the official charger is probably one of the smaller solutions to powering that, I forget if lower power chargers work to run it in dock mode.

have the hori case, but honestly I think I'm just going to stick the switch in a microfiber cloth pouch that came w my headphones I got recently, it fits much better in my jacket pocket. Ill have the case for when Im doing more traveling than just to work and back home. I only feel comfortable doing this now that I have a screen protector on the switch though.

I've currently got the official Nintendo Switch carrying case, but I've also got a preorder of the Waterfield City Slicker in black leather that should ship in early April. The official case will make do until then, but the quality of it is pretty mediocre overall.

Also just got my amFilm tempered glass screen protector in, so I'll need to apply that today or tomorrow to replace the crappy plastic screen protector that came with the Nintendo carrying case. Hopefully I can do it without tracking any dust or hair. Guess I'll try out the steamy shower suggestion.

The official one has a stand and is slim. I never heavy duty protect anything and never have an issue. It's going inside a bag anyway...
How does the slimmer official one damage your shit?

Because your Joycon sticks are pushing up against the top of the case. It's way too slim and the top material is too soft to hold anything back. If you put it inside a bag with some other heavy stuff, it'll weigh down on the sticks and the console big time.

Thing is just flimsy as fuck and way too tight for its own good.

Stay away from this case. It's so thin it will barely offer protection. And the sticks are constantly being pushed up against because the walls of the case are so thin.

Just get the Hori Case. It's so much better and will save your Switch if you drop the case.

Exactly!

After trawling the internet for a decent travel case and finding nothing i liked the case I opted for a rather unorthodox 7 inch tablet case/bag instead of a an actually Switch case.

I have this..

The Switched can't be stored with the joy cons attached but there's plenty enough space in the provided compartments to store them. and the SD card holders shown work great as game card holders.

I'm pretty pleased as a cheap solution. Cost me £7 delivered.

Is there a link to this kind of cover? I had something similar for my Vita and i prefer this as its more practical to take out of my bag and play, rather than mess with a case.

EDIT: oh wow... this top one has pretty bad reviews overall. Its too bad no solution for this would also make the switch dock nicely.

wow... this one is super nice.

Just Stating once again, avoid the one I had linked previously. I returned it immediately. Quality just isn't up to the pictures, it's thicker than expected and obviously wont work with the dock.

Got my ButterFox case today. It's nice. First like a glove, almost too tight though for my tastes personally, the braiding around the case rubs against it as I put it in, have to push a bit to get it to insert. I don't like when things fit too snugly with a harder material like that as it can wear away at the edges.

I love the look, and it has everything I wanted inside. May cut the straps/bands off though, it already doesn't move at all inside the case, it really doesn't need those.

Quick update on this, as soon as I cut those elastic straps, the fit was much better. I then just put some extra padding in there and stretched it a little. Now everything fits pretty nicely. Not too snug.

This is the case I got today. My grey RDS Zelda eye case is still not in. There was one target in a 50 mile range with 2 cases left and this was the case. It is great. It fits everything I need well and offers great protection.

Weird, I have had the official case since launch, so far so good. Fits inside my bag perfectly.
Traveled with the Switch everyday no signs of damage. If you don't need the straps and other accessories this is a fine case.

Yeah, this was the first case I've seen back in stock near me and I picked one up at Target today. Very sturdy and it'll fit everything I plan on taking with my Switch (the joycon should button extenders and a USB 3.0 cable mainly).

It's exactly what I wanted and I like that it comes with removable game cases too, saves me from having to keep my case with me at all times or buying some separately.

Not a big fan of the handle (don't think I'll ever use it), but if it ever bugs me too much I suppose I can just cut it off.

Got the Hori hardshell case today, and my initial impressions have been positive. I had read in this thread that it was a bit loose around the Switch, but with the joycon straps placed on the screen flap it fits like a glove. Case itself is sturdy. I opened it up and used the bottom as a surface to play the Switch in kickstand mode while laying on my stomach in bed. Felt solid.

I mostly just wanted a way to transport my Switch without worrying too much about it being damaged if it's sitting in a backpack with a few other things, and I think this case does that job well.
