Cosmic Star Heroine (PS4/Vita/PC) Out April 11th

Is this still planned for release on other platforms (Xbox One...maybe Switch?) at some undefined future date? Not a port beg, afaik it was planned to coming to Xbox at least at some point.

Yes, still planning to do an Xbox One version.
We're going to see if we can do a Switch version too, but we haven't dug into that yet. We got a positive response from Nintendo regarding the game for Switch, but we haven't jumped into that yet (we have enough on our plate at the moment) :p

I want to hold out for the "limited run" vita version, but I also want it day one!

Decisions decisions... I'm torn!

Why not just preorder? You'll get the psv version later. This is what I plan to do:

Remote play the ps4 version on my vita

Play as much as I want

Then play the rest native on my Vita when it arrives.

It feels like weird timing, the oft-delayed, spiritual successor to a beloved JRPG (Chrono Trigger) coming out in the wake of Persona 5 - itself the oft-delayed sequel to a beloved JRPG franchise. With P5 already a 100 hour commitment, I wonder who will be left to purchase CSH day one...

I hope I'm wrong, as this game looks equally fantastic to my SNES-era appreciating self.

It's definitely unfortunate they couldn't squeeze it out a couple of weeks earlier. Hopefully P5 won't affect the sales that much. I'll probably buy the game day one even though I won't have any time to play it until probably around May.

I backed this for PC and am very excited for the team.

Personally, I will be waiting for a Switch release to sit down and play it. It's simply too good a form factor for RPGs.

Me? Well OK I already paid for it as a backer, but if I hadn't, I'd have gotten it day 1. Couldn't care less about P5.

Basically, Sony came to us and offered us a slot in their indie promotion and we felt that the visibility gain we would get from that outweighed the proximity to Persona 5.

We also do have some advantages - our game is a fraction of the price, requires less of a time commitment (and is probably much faster-paced from what I've heard), has a fantastic, original combat system that I'm especially proud of, and perhaps most importantly, is available on more platforms. I'm thinking we might have a lot of instances of RPG fans getting excited for Persona 5 but not have a platform to play it on and instead transfer that excitement to Cosmic Star Heroine.

Dat soundtrack.

Realistically though, I'm not sure how common an RPG fan without a PS3/PS4. I'd instead choose to believe that despite the time commitments for JRPGs, there are few enough quality turn-based games that people will be buying both, not choosing one over the other. Medium-long term, at least.

you have it right, I will be playing CSH and not Persona 5, cuz on PC.
I'm really glad to hear about that fantastic combat system.

Yeah, I'm still not tired of our soundtrack. It's so good.

Yeah, I expect a lot of this as well. Just pretend Persona 5 costs $12-$15 extra. ;)

I'm just about to wrap up Hollow Knight so I'm ready for another indie gem right after it! This year has been really good on both the AAA and Indie side of things.

going to be so disappointed if theres no cyborg that transforms into modes of transportation!

edit - congrats on releasing it @Robert. remeber you posting bits and pieces of this a long time ago around gaf

Any idea on when backers that selected the PS4 version will be getting their download codes?

I'm going to try to send backers their codes when we send out media codes later this week. Might take a little longer since there are thousands of backer codes that need to be sent out as opposed to dozens of media review codes.

Probably gonna use my March spend 50 get 10 euros promo money to buy this just so that I can play it for cheap ASAP and don't have to wait or feel too guilty for doubledipping and buying a physical copy as well, whenever that releases. Assuming I like this.

Unless Persona 5 is an absolutely massive improvement in those areas over 3 and 4, being better paced and having a better battle system both shouldn't really take much ;)

Anyway, that aside, do you think that there will be any issues running CSH on a GPD Win 10 (basically an Atom with last-gen Intel integrated graphics)? Given that it runs on Vita I shouldn't think so, but there can always be strange incompatibilities.

This looks really cool. Any info on game length or side content/optional quests?

We're guessing it'll take most people 15-20 hours. Yes, there's optional content (mini-dungeons, some character stuff, super-hard bosses, etc.).

Is PS4/Vita crossplay? Can I start playing on PS4 and then just move over to Vita when that comes out?

The game isn't cross-save at the moment. We'll try to get it in but no guarantees.

No idea. The game runs well on everything we've installed it on but I haven't done a lot of testing on different systems.
