A Donald Trump supporter who allegedly assaulted young woman during a campaign rally last year is claiming the president is to blame in his response to a lawsuit against him.

Alvin Bamberger, 75, who is accused of shoving protester Kashiya Nwanguma at a Louisville, Kentucky, rally on March 1, 2016, alleges in a cross claim filed Friday that he would not have touched the woman had then-candidate Trump not urged his supporters to remove protesters from the venue.

"Bamberger had no prior intention to act as he did," reads the response to the suit filed in U.S. District Court for Western Kentucky. "Bamberger would not have acted as he did without Trump and/or the Trump Campaign's specific urging and inspiration."

In his cross claim, Bamberger's attorney Stephen Pence wrote that Trump "promised to pay the legal fees of those who — following Trump's urgings — removed the protesters" at multiple rallies." As such, he claims Trump should be held liable.

Trump's attorneys responded to the suit on Friday suggesting that while he did say "Get them out of here," the words were not directed at the crowd and that he told security not to hurt the protesters.

Trump also claimed he is "immune from the suit because he is president of the United States."

Who would have thunk it? Words have power.

Haha sorry Trump, the Republicans already established that wasn't true when Bill Clinton was being sued for harassment.

The sad part is that he is right about what Trump said. Trump did encourage his supporters to assault protesters and did say he would pay for the legal fees. Doesn't make him right to assault anyone, but this just shows how dangerous Trump, his careless remarks, and his supporters are.

Not that Trump isn't culpable, but further proof that Republicans can't ever accept responsibility for their own actions.

Actually, that seems to go for most people these days. Deny, deflect, project, until you absolutely have no other option and, even then, try and share the blame with someone else.

If we learned to live with the consequences of our actions, maybe we'd suffer a little embarrassment, but we'd be a lot better off as a civilization.

Yea but the left was funded by Soros who secretly met with Hillary at a pizza store to discuss emails and how to start wars.

Both sides are the same!

Not this moron's fault he took trump at his word. Hope he wins.

I'd rather he not. If he wins with his argument of "Trump said it was okay" then that might lead other people to think that they can do anything so long as Trump said it was okay at some point.

His were the only rallies at of all the candidates that had the most violence. I saw a white old guy cold cocked a black man in the face, caught on video too. Interviewed later he flat out said he would might end up killing him.

And fuck off saying you can't get into trouble because you are President. You aren't a king. I hope you get sued off your ass.

That's so cute that he thought Trump would cover his legal fees. Now he will spend the rest of his days giving money to the person he assaulted. Sad!

But once again its on video, coming out of his mouth. He really can't say he never said it, when clearly he did.

That's your prerogative.

The moment Trump said I'll pay you're legal fees he became a culpable instigator in my book.

This is why wet good people in leadership positions to higher standards than the crowd.

It doesn't matter. He doesn't have to say anything anymore. The world in his head took a magnificent turn when he had the power of voice attached to an explosive following, AND news outlets worked overtime to protect him from prosecution. Now, it's gone to places we can't relate to, where he literally has the power of pretend as an absolute shield. And if that doesn't get it done, if make believe doesn't work, he's got a country under his thumb to punish whenever he feels slighted.

Wrong. Everything he says DOES matter, because it can be used against him in the courts.

He's not invincible.

LOL

That only works for acts as President (i.e. bombing Syria, the act of signing executive orders, etc)

we have a 75 year old man claiming here that he only did it because trump told him to. this isn't a stupid alt right kid, this is a fucking 75 year old grown man. that is sad

Haha sorry Trump, the Republicans already established that wasn't true when Bill Clinton was being sued for harassment.

That was different, cause he was ruining America. But Our Dearest Leader Trump is making America great again so he can't be tied down by something as silly as the law. Alle hagel unseren lieben Führer Trump!

I thought Clinton's line of reasoning was that the trial should have been delayed until after his presidency because he was too busy (which his very next vacation day proved was not true).
