Preorders for Arms opened officially today, so again comgnet just doesn't care.

They should do some beta for that game, all impressions are pretty good but they need as many people as play it before release.

I think there's a realistic chance of a testfire. I think a demo would be wise. Give people a flavor of the game to try on their own time.

Could just be a Direct fully detailing their E3 plans?

No. They don't do stuff like that. They either release a PR statement or they release a video on their youtube channel detailing their E3 plans.

This direct if it's happening this week or next week would be for Pokemon.

Pokemon games usually get announced this time of year, right?

Another GAF user. Apparently he leaked Pokemon White / Black 2 back in the day and was very accurate. He mentioned something about a title coming to Switch that'll make GAF go crazy. FF7R would fit that bill probably.

Someone who got something right once, years ago, and has been irrelevant since. That's what I've been told, anyway.

He correctly leaked Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 with the precise names months before the announcement. Recently he stated that he's heard of a Japanese UE4 game coming to Switch that will generate a "thread for the archives." The only title the fits the description is FF7R.

Haha, gotcha.

Place your bets
- Pokemon
- Xenoblade 2
- Splatoon 2
- Fire Emblem
- Mobile
- A lot of games
- Zelda DLC
- ARMS again
- pre E3 hype
- Bayonetta 3

Yeah, I'm guessing a Pokemon Direct.
Even if Stars is just a simple third version is makes sense to do a Direct for the first Switch Pokemon game.

the livestream earlier this year was beyond awful

Only because they spent a lot of time detailing 3 games which no one really gave a rat's ass about due to the 3DS being "old hat" and two of them being cheap looking remakes of DS games.

I bet if they spent the same amount of time slowly detailing and joking around about a Persona 5 spin off, 13 Sentinels, and SMT Switch, with brand new trailers for all 3, no one would say it is boring.

A Direct where they announce Radiant Historia, EOMD 2, and Deep Strange Journey all for the 3DS, looking exactly the same, would still be met with responses like "wtf is Atlus donig" and "why" and "who cares".

Splatoon for Wii U had an exclusive Direct on May 7th 2015, less than a month before its release.
I'm betting for an Arms Direct some weeks before its release, since Nintendo's marketing is very similar to Splatoon. There're a lot of similarities about these two games.

Splatoon came out pre E3 though.
ARMS will probably get a lot of e3 coverage I assume for one final push. At least treehouse game play coverage.

Not saying it won't happen, but that;s one key difference between the two...

I'm expecting Arms and Splatoon to get E3 segments to go with the previous Direct.

It comes out after.

E3 is just one week before release. Even Nintendo doesn't reveal info with such short timefrate. It isn't enough time to make people know about the game, and it isn't enough time for retailers to increase shipments if the interest rises.

For E3, I'm expecting some Arms tournaments and these kind of things. But regarding game features and content, it will be shown before.

Edit: like they're doing now showing new characters every week or two.

I think Nintendo is already doing a Splatoon 2 tournament for E3. An Arms demo or trial would be good.
I think he's talking about Splatoon 1.

It came out on May 28th

My mistake.

People seem really adamant about a Direct.

Couldn't it just be nothing?

If it were nothing....

How would it be?

Doesn't read OPs, especially not his own

I still think it will be an Arms focused direct though. I still also think Pokemon will be announced, but just a tweet from the the Pokemon Company with something like "Please tune in at 2:00pm Friday, May 19th for a special Pokemon announcement", and then dumped on youtube at the designated time.

They might as well do full on Nintendo Direct focusing heavily on Arms, nindies and smaller Japanese third parties.

It's Golden Week, after today nobody will be in the office until next Monday, that's also why they did their usual Wednesday-updates today on a Tuesday.

Not really. I mean, they're clearly low effort stuff targeting the most hardcore fans at this point. I don't see them as appealing products worth putting tons of effort into attracting a significant larger audience on new hardware.
