Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon seemed to do alright. One was on a console that people actually owned and the other wasn't.

Probably not honestly. DK has never been a good franchise, and I think the cool reception to TF was reflective of this.Exactly the point. Could've done better if released in a console people actually own

Donkey Kong Country 1-3 and Tropical Freeze are four of the greatest platformers of all time.Probably not honestly. DK has never been a good franchise, and I think the cool reception to TF was reflective of this.
Thank you DMONKUMA, this is what I was referring to, and I hadn't seen all of it. Serenitynow, I am hoping DK and Metroid fans can both be happy. Like if Retro can indeed now make two games at once as has been hinted at. (Or, if we get a DK/Metroid crossover.)

Both of those are going to do quite a bit better than "alright" on the Switch.Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon seemed to do alright.
I don't even fall into either camp. Basically, here is where I stand with Retro:
New I.P. = great
Nintendo I.P. they've never worked on = great
Metroid = great
Donkey Kong = great if not a 2D side scroller. I'd be totally down for a 3D platformer or Donkey Kong: Guerilla Warfare, a third-person shooter that takes place during the Great Ape War. But if it's a third DKCR, I'll basically say, "Well, I'm sure this will be a fine game. See you in 3 years Retro when we can all speculate and get excited again about what's next, like we've done for the past ~6 years."

The fuck is this horseshit???Probably not honestly. DK has never been a good franchise, and I think the cool reception to TF was reflective of this.
Rules out Donkey Kong beyond a shadow of a doubt.
Might rule out a light-hearted romp too.
Can someone post a few good tracks of his? I listened to some and wasn't impressed.

I believe NateDrake and someone else on Twitter said Metroid was being made by a third party dev. Obe1 (lol) also said he heard it was being made by someone who surprised him.Didn't a bunch of insiders say Retro isn't working on Metroid, and that Nintendo gave the next game to a 3rd party
Emily said this was a new ip,not Metroid, excited.

American studio who has worked on two of Nintendo's most NA-centric IPs after both went through long hiatuses, being given an IP literally made specifically for NA that's been on a multi-decade hiatus.
Checks out.
A lot of people say a lot of shit...Emily said this was a new ip,not Metroid, excited.
Alexander Brandon's discography includes shmups, atmospheric first person games, mascot platformers, a pinball game, a 60s inspired car combat game and Bejeweled 3. It rules out nothing.
I guess this is coming to Switch consoles in 2018 then
This style immediately reminded me of the theme from Metroid Prime Hunters. Metroid Hunters being limited by the DS hardware, but in the same vein.
You're most likely wrong. Retro has gotten David Wise in the past and Grant Kirkhope tried to get a job there too.
If they were going for Donkey Kong, they'd probably go for one of these two men or whomever composed DKC Returns if possible.
It pretty much rules out Donkey Kong as is not difficult to see. Considering the pedigree of Wise, it could rule out a similarly colourful platformer too, although that is just my conjecture.
Retro are making the Sylux spinoff Metroid fans have always wanted.
