Finally.

Honestly, I'm fine with having both arcade and sim Tennis games for different tastes and situations. I played a lot of Top Spin 3 and 4, but couldn't get anyone else to play it when visiting because the learning curve is pretty crazy, especially in 3. I'd love to also get Virtua Tennis 5, get both, use World Tour as my solo/online sim game and VT as the party game.

Also, a Switch version actually would be enticing. I never got a Vita but played the crap out of Virtua Tennis 3 on the PSP.

Oh well. Still got Tennis 2k2 on the Dreamcast.

I hope licensing costs won't reduce the budget for more substantial features (that's my personal opinion, of course). I still believe you can sell a brandless tennis sim - sporting a proper next generation engine and player/tournament editor, on top of a lifelike attention to detail on court - just as well as your average sponsored title, full of popular faces and attractive logos, yet unable to deliver a decet level of immersion, once you get past all that stuff. I mean, I love Top Spin 4 and I still play it today, but even that game, to me, feels a bit disconnected to the reality it tries to simulate, at times.

I agree actually. Personally I'm more into the core gameplay than the the celebrity tennis stars but that's just me. I'd be perfectly fine with a generic tennis game if it was just as good but didn't have to go through the licensing. Also, looking all this up, I'm only just realizing Tennis spinoffs of Hot Shots Golf exist. Maybe they should do a new one.

I've waited for this game to be announced since I bought a PS4 (2013!)

If they want a realistic game they've to put the original grunts from the pro players and the ball sounds.
Do you think it is needed licenses or anything to include the grunts?
I'm soooo excited

Is this game coming to PC? I'd love to play a new tennis game, the only one I play intermittently these days is Full Ace Tennis and that's not a very good looking game. I would of preferred BigBen spent more money on the game and create a player mode than buying up player likeness licenses as they never really play like the actual tennis pro's, I think modders can do a better job in this regard(look at the mod scene on games like PES).

I'd kill for a good boxing game on PC too.

I could never really get into the Top Spin games as the A.I. had a habit of playing their shots to bounce mid court without any real velocity on the ball so I'd have to hit the ball softly just to get a good baseline rally going, otherwise it would be me just hitting winners constantly which is boring, I never played Top Spin 4 though as my Xbox360 broke just before it came out and I went full time to PC, but looking at videos on youtube it looks a bit moonbally but it could just be the person playing.

I remember playing one of the older Smash Court games(maybe the second game) on PS2 years ago as Pat Rafter and I really enjoyed the net play, no other game gave me the feeling of being helpless from the back of the court but epic while volleying and it felt like I earned my points as opposed to modern games where it feels like a ballbasher can volley like a god by exploiting terrible A.I.

I loved Top Spin 4 and have been waiting for a tennis game to surface for this gen's consoles. The fact that this is being developed by some of those devs is icing on the cake.

Loved both Virtua Tennis and Top Spin series, and it's been far too long since there was a new tennis game. I really hope this sells well and revives the genre.

This thread is really making me want to play a tennis game now. Are there any good ones (realistic or arcade) on XB1/PS4 or PC? I need something to tide me over until 2018.

I needed a tennis game for PS4 so bad that I got the remastered PS2 release Hot Shots Tennis. And having mastered the game on PSP, it's providing to be a breeze :)

Would love a few bonus modes that are a little arcadey too. Since tennis games are few and far between itd be nice to get it all in one sick ass package

Top Spin was really hard though and since this is a sim,I bet it will be also.

Very happy about this announcement!

I can't believe that the Everybody's Tennis PS2 Classics game is all the Tennis we have on PS4. It's not even the superior PSP version! :(

Tennis World Tour is a day one title for me.
