Ys Origin (PS4/Vita) |OT| Yes, you can start with this one too

I wonder how long 58 to 59 took you :p

Approximately 3-4 episodes of 30 Rock lol

I'm about a 3rd of the way to 60 before I stopped. Gonna see if I can knock it out today during lunch.

If you look in the monster log it actually tells you to use wind magic on them :)

I also always thought them being green was a hint. I guess using wind magic is more obvious of a thing to do with Hugo than it is with Yunica though

Has Dotemu said anything about remapping buttons to be added in a future update?

Nah. But they are doing bug fixes atm, specifically mentioning the audio issues.

Gonna try and do the Arena mode trophies before they fix that.(If they're aware of it.) RN enemies only spawn from the bottom left corner instead of all around the field like they're supposed to, making it incredibly easy for Hugo especially lol

I feel like all my posts are me whining about the new area lmao sorry. But I'm guessing I'm in the final stretch of the game because every time is annoying as hell and I'm not making any progress, just trying to level up a bit. The flowers that shoot their razors are annoying and take forever to kill. The sorcerer type guys are way more annoying and threatening now, as are the usual slimes since they can confuse.

Got 60 and Very Easy clear. Kinda fun killing the last boss just standing in place and taking 1 damage from everything

I....really underestimated this trophy pack. I thought they would go easy on us with the Bonus Shop trophy and not count Pikkardon and Schoolgirl Yunica but I was mistaken.

So I think the plat requires a minimum of 10 playthroughs lmao. 6 of which are on Nightmare.

So close yet so far... I have 4 trophies left, but unlocking them requires 6 Nightmare runs and one Nightmare Boss rush run....

Why... why do people do this to themselves. Did you leave an important project incomplete in a past life and this is your punishment? To be compelled to 100% things?

I just replayed with Toal on Hard on PC and I actually enjoyed it a lot more than I did with Hugo. It really seems like most of the enemies' move sets were designed with melee combat in mind; having a ranged default attack meant that I could just totally ignore what most enemies were doing as long as kept a reasonable distance. In other words, JUMPJUMPJUMPJUMPJUMP.

I don't know if I just overlevelled myself but every boss past the Sands area was a lot easier than every boss beforehand. Made the ending stretch feel less climactic than Oath in Felghana. Beating Oath's final boss on normal felt like one of my greatest gaming achievements!

I've finally started playing the game on PC after having it sit on my backlog forever, and I've got to say I had a pretty rough time with the lava area boss as Hugo until I decided to go back and grind a couple levels, but even though the boss was a cakewalk after the grind, the enemies in the sand area were constantly taking 1-3 damage per attack (except for mages taking around 15), which made beating the red worms a chore (god damn respawning goat skeletons!), and then I came across four red bomb-flinging enemies that I just can't kill because all my attacks and abilities deal only 1 damage per hit. Since I'd rather not grind even more levels (it was mind-numbing, really), I think I'll have to just start a new savefil or something, since I feel like I'm really stuck and the alternative is to bore myself to death to stand a chance against the normal enemies in the new area.

Personally, I'd say the level design is guilty of being awfully linear, and how it tends to rely on finding "secrets" to actually progress through the main path, making those apparently optional places mandatory. For example, once I figured I was stuck at the sand level unless I ground even more levels, I decided to go back and comb through each previous area with the mask that allows you to access special pathways, and was really let down when I realized that it was just a boring item you were meant to use at places with those red marks only (at least AFAIK). There probably are some optional places I haven't found yet (I saw a gameplay video where the player had a level 4 weapon when fighting the lava boss, so I guess I just missed the ore somewhere), but I don't rally feel that compelled to keep looking, anyway.

Having to constantly access the menu to use/equip items is often more busywork than anything, and reminds me of how boring it was in OoT to constantly equip and unequip those blasted iron boots. I had to go all over the first area because I didn't know I was actually supposed to equip Ricco's pendant as opposed to it being just a key item used for doing a flag check, and a similar thing happened when I saw a cracked pipe in the lava area and tried to bomb it, only to get told by the game that I wasn't supposed to bomb that one weak structure, but rather look for a key item (that I obviously had to use from the menu, yay!). Warping being mapped to an usable item as opposed to simply allowing you to do that while examining a godess statue also felt really off... all in all, I fear the game's user experience leaves an awful lot to be desired.

Also, having played through a bit of Oath before, I'd also feel inclined to agree that Hugo's ranged attacks are an ill fit for this kind of game. Using him makes most melee enemies into a joke, and even enemies with ranged attacks aren't all that bad since you often get to fight them on even footing as opposed to being a melee character.

Nightmare not being unlocked from the start makes me not want to bother with it tbh x.x

Yeah. Three of them are just unlocking Nightmare. If it was unlocked from the start all of those would be redundant.

Started EX Yunica Nightmare and got up to right before Nygtilger. Gonna see how I feel about it after this run.

Finished Yunica last night. Was extremely surprised at how easy the final boss was. I was level 51 with max everything but still. Started Hugo and beat the first boss, loving Hugo's style so far.

The

final boss on nightmare is rage inducing. My game crashed after I beat it. Youtubed the fuck out of that ending.

I started this last night on Hard, really enjoying it. Will be a fun game to bounce to in between sessions of all the big scary open world games already released this year

First boss was wrecking me for a good twenty minutes lol. I might have been slightly underlevelled. Really fun though

So how close to zero is it that the physical version gets a western release?

Considering there's basically no point at all in a company like LRG releasing their own print of the game, when Asia is already getting a multi language release, I would not expect one. Even if we were to get a Western release, it will not be cheaper than it currently is on import sites.

I recognize some sound effects in this game from Trails of Cold Steel. That means Falcom's being recycling sound effects for a decade lmao.

Hugo finished. So much easier than Yunica. Time for
Toal next.

Seems like a good time to start playing.
Going to be a while until I get my Persona 5 copy, so I'll play this in the mean time

Not being able to get through the first cutscene on Toal Nightmare without a hard crash made me uninstall the game. Fuck that Platinum, haha.

Play-Asia still lists this as July for the Vita version.

Perhaps it has to do with the LRG version not released yet?

I'm DLing my vita version now, but do we know if it's cross save? I'm looking to use the vita version to grind out level 60, other misc trophies, etc.

Vita version is up in Europe

Not here (Netherlands)
[edit] Oh, I see it's available on the web-version (free for everyone who bought the PS4 version), but not on the Vita PSN. It's in the queue, will download it tonight.
It does say it's also available for PS3? Or is it downloadable for PS3 and you can transfer it to Vita? I don't know.

Oh hey, Vita has a separate trophy list.

Every digital Vita game can be downloaded on PS3 (for transfer purposes) and will show up as a PS3 download.

Just to let everyone know: the European Vita version doesn't work on PlayStation TV.

Well that's a shame. Hopefully it's cross-save to make up for it, but so far it only was advertised as cross-buy, so I certainly am not optimistic about it...

Well poop. I was hoping it would work on my VitaTV.
As of 5 minutes ago it wasn't up yet on my VitaTV or Vita stores.

What are the differences in the trophy lists?

Played about an hour on the vita, so good, the formula of the series works so well and doesn't wear thin. A lot of slow down during the first bosses fire attack but didn't disrupt the game for me in any way just very noticeable.

Looking forward to playing more and still got viii later this year, looking forward to that too.

So yeah, no cross-save, but a completely separate trophy list. I absolutely love the game, but not sure if I'm going to grind out the platinum a second time.
