I'd push for a new name to distance it from the Xbox One, the Xbone doesn't exactly have a good name in gaming and a reboot might just be what they need, to freshen things up.

They have to keep the "One" though. They're pretty much obligated to do so for obvious reasons. That being said they probably will change it....

I think it'll just be ... XBOX. Nothing more.

Yep, they'll probably change it to just Xbox.

But how can they change it to Xbox while simultaneously keep the "One" moniker? By calling it Xbox One X. Then the acronym would simply be Xbox. It's the best they can do by fulfilling keeping the "One" name and simultaneously getting rid of it.

I still want it to be Xbox One Elite, but MS shit the bed already with that name.

So, let's go with Xbox One X. Rolls out of the thong, and XBX looks cool.

Xbox Obama

It'll sell millions across the world.

edit: ^ adverts for the ps4 indicate it does Dynamic 4k gaming and not native 4k gaming so they assumed having the 4k badge would have cost more negative than positive. but there isnt a real reason to even bring them up. this is a thread about the Scorpio. come on son.

Not while they are selling them for almost half what they can get for a console

I was thinking it would be a way to soften the $499 price point for the holidays then in spring release a version of it with a normal controller for $399.

Microsoft can maybe get some revenge for the Sony and their True 1080p and Full HD of the PS3 era.
Give them a taste of their own bullshit

But then that won't be able to call that the Elite and will have to use a different name; confusing the consumer as a result. Better avoid the trap and choose something to represent the console and not the package.

All Digital Foundry means is that, instead of just using the same CUs at higher clocks, Scorpio will also use its extra CUs in "boost mode". It definitely does not mean, nor did they claim, that unpatched games will get greater kinds of benefits than on PS4 Pro. Indeed, DF specifically said they wouldn't.

I think based upon how they are doing the BC titles, some basic additions to run higher resolution etc, is not out of the realms of possibilities.
Are BC games all running at 1080p on Xbox One? Then why would you expect them to all go to 4K on Scorpio? Microsoft have clearly enumerated what benefits unpatched games will receive:
- Hold framerate targets better
- Hold res targets better, if dynamic
- V-sync
- 16x AF

There is no reason to expect more.

No, "dynamic" is a modifier of "gaming", not of "4K". PS4 Pro does native 4K gaming, so there'd be no need for any sort of legal cover. (There are more native 4K games on Pro than there are variable 4K games.)

Feel like they need to start or end the conference with at least one suprise game that just blows people away. Sony's touting games that don't come out for years and years works. If it's still a ways off, just show it. Pull from the same bullshit playbook.

I really wish they would find a way to call it Scorpio. The name has been entrenched with many for a almost a year now.

I own a PS4 Pro and was genuinely excited to get a Scorpio. But I feel as if they are missing the window to have this really have the impact it could have.

By the time Scorpio comes out, PS4 Pro will be a year old already, so the performance gains feel a little diminished. A marginal CPU upgrade and a nice GPU upgrade. But based on Digital Foundry finding in Destiny 2, the limitations this generation are largely CPU bound even on the PS4 Pro. I dont think we're really gonna get that "WOW" factor over what current PS4 Pro titles offer.

I mean you drop your "Elite" console a year after the competition and say its the best, well yeah, it better be. Its not like MS is playing the Nintendo card here, they are in the hardware race.

Im still excited for what Scorpio has in store, but I worry many people are getting their hopes up to PS5 XBTWO levels.
