I'm not hosting the panel -- Major Nelson is. Yes they have a Scorpio panel but I haven't seen any of the materials.

You're producing E3 Coliseum. You partnered with Microsoft to have one of the panels be a Project Scorpio panel and then you went ahead and leaked a secret about their console on twitter.

Game websites have been blacklisted in the past for just reporting on leaks, and you risked your partnership with Microsoft by being the leaker.

Something's not adding up.

I find it baffling that another console would be brought to market at $500. I mean Sony's '06 E3 is still remembered/referenced like it happened yesterday. I just don't see this doing that well at that price.

If it isn't a rumor and that's the announced price, well. Microsoft did pretty much prepare the ground for that kind of decision; they always stressed the premium nature of the Scorpio. I also feel like it's a suboptimal choice considering we're at the stage of the generation where customers get more price-conscious (I know this is targeting perennial early adopters but still). This conference will be pretty interesting!

I'm dizzy from the back and forth.

First he said he was confident.
Then said it's what they rehearsed.
Now it's just a rumor.
It was what Microsoft rehearsed, so he is confident that is the price they'll go with. And until Microsoft confirms it, it is still a rumor.

There is no back and forth going on.

Whst did you guys even expect?

E3 GAF is back. Ughhhhhh

E3 GAF is one of the best and worst times of the year for this forum because of the consistent meltdowns people have over practically nothing.

I've lost all respect for Geoff. Also, I would t be surprised if this ended up in legal action.

Some very poor choices being made.

Just like this one.

Like what the hell, legal action? Come on son.

No there isn't. Xbox One is pretty much dead in the Netherlands.

The xbox one era is maybe dead, but xbox 360 era was huge back then. I got a budy that work at media markt, and he always tell multiplat sell the most at 360 instead of ps3 in the early years!

And then came the 299 euro price with "it only does everything" promo with kevin Butler, and the rest was history.

It's a fair price for the hardware it gives but it's not a competetive/aggressive price to be sure. It will be a niche product just like Pro. Xbox Slim will still probably outsell it.

A lot of you folks who are mad at Keighley sound like lunatics. It's never in your interest to protect corporate marketing plans.

So last minute change to 399 $ to win the crowd?
Most of the reasonable ppl expected 450/500 $ seeing the beefy hardware. I feel that it changed here a bit when sony coasted along with good numbers that some expect MS now to go all in with 399 or even lower to restart/boost XB1. (also bottomless MS warchest... )

Let's see. Still strange from geoff saying it straight like this.

E3 is crazy times. How the hell this thread got so many pages that fast.

That's not what people thought in the other thread.
People thought in the other thread?

They are not going to take on a negative margin to "invest" in base expansion. It doesn't make sense here for two reasons: 1) the premium product is always a margin generator, the only reasonable target for base expansion is the Xbox One S; 2)under Nadella, they have little leeway to incur negatives at all.

They have a bigger chip, more memory, more complex PCB, more power draw, plus some (smallerish) extra expenses for UHD BR than the direct competition, with equal access to third-party fabs and manufacturing lines, no internal source of parts, significantly less internal expertise in hardware. Even at the same specs they could not match costs and they are far from the same specs.

The question I'd ask anyone expecting 399$ is: what kind of margin do you think there is on the PS4 Pro hardware?

They will make the deal seem sweeter with a big HDD and grand claims about the cooling system being quiet or something.

That's why I said it could change, it's not official until it is announced. But based on what I've heard since I tweeted, they are rolling ahead with $499. Any price change would be very last minute, and no way, they trim $100 off.

Honestly given the tech in there I understand the $499. But open question on if the games/experience will justify that pricetag, we will see today.

I've also heard final name is in the Twitter poll I put up.

Ctrl-P. See you on the other side.

Smells faintly of rancid stilton.
ITT: People having a crisis because Microsoft shit the bed with this console from the very start and this was their last chance to retake ground from Sony.
If people thought the Scorpio was away for MS to gain ground on Sony the Gaf is more out of touch with reality then I thought.

We'll see soon. If its $399 in the end it could also be misinformation to hope someone leaks a $499 price.

Geoff isn't the kind of guy to intentionally give out false information. If he did, people wouldn't believe him anymore

If he's right, he's right.

We'll know Soon.TM

Some very poor choices being made.

Unless he signed an NDA stating that he couldn't reveal this info they can't do anything to him at all.

There is no legal action that can be taken against leakers who don't sign any sort of legal documentation

$449 won't seem so bad compared to $499 if this was a planned misdirection. Honestly, without some incredible exclusives the graphics will have to be mind blowing to justify $100 more than a pro.
