Geoff Keighley: Scorpio rumored to cost $499 (he's right, flawless victory)

generation is not gone at all, don't you remember where ps3 was at this point last gen?

The PS3 was actually outselling the 360 from the start, just was a year behind so the total took a long time to overtake, plus thanks to being a worldwide brand they made up millions in other countries.

if it doesnt gain momentum in minds of audience it doesnt even matter how much it did profit in 499$ it will be doa.
just like when coming from mighty 360 , its younger brother turned itself into ashes.

microsoft is trying to gain mindholding not money at this moment (with xbox brand) but 499 aint gonna help

They've had a lot of years to get mindshare, the division needs to be profitable. They'll have their internal metrics to tell them when to make changes.

Guess you missed last year buddy. ;)

if it is indeed 499$
i wouldnt be surprised if Microsoft secured one of the biggest IP's as PC/Scorpio/X1 exclusive.Like not GTA big but still big IP.

Could be Splinter Cell,Mafia, exclusive Japan IP like some final fantasy spin-off,Dead Space reboot maybe,Mass Effect Trilogy remake maybe.

also fully expect Minecraft 2 teaser

Theres already been rumours of Splinter Cell. It wouldnt surprise me some sort of Minecraft game and an additional game from Rare (battletoads)?.

Keep seeing DeadSpace being mentioned, any good rumours about that one, or just people hoping?

I thought it would be more honestly, 499 doesn't seem so bad. But still just something for Xbox fans unless they really, REALLY knock it out of the park with the games.

This is such an obvious bait and switch. Why would a professional like Keighley reveal the price before MS themselves? This is viral marketing and Geoff is in on it. They will reveal a lower one in the conference.

that's not how I remember things at all, but we are talking of almost 10 years ago at this point

those 360 customers didn't die overnight.
of course they need to do a lot to turn the tide, but so did Sony when they were down against the 360

Neither did the PS2 customers before it.

Demographics change, market share shifts.

MS don't have the army of 1st party studios to make that shift a possibility - not saying its impossible, just not very likely. I am willing to wait and see.

As far as market share goes, I am struggling to see where the resurgence will come from - Not Europe, Not Japan. The American Market may not be enough.

LOL. It's not even close to being enough. Didn't we learn that last gen? Even if Xbox broke every record in the U.S, they'd still be behind Sony.

Europe and Japan don't like to be treated like 2nd class citizens, which is exactly what happened when Xbox One launched. All the goodwill they were able to build with 360 was gone in a second. And even that was getting killed by the PS3 in Europe, even though it was pretty popular.

This gen is over. Comparing it to the PS3 situation is stupid.

Assuming that is like £450 here, I'm not really sure why people expected it to be any less. That seems reasonable I would have thought, and is about what a launch PS3 cost me.

Geoff never leaks shit... and he's been around a long time. This is clearly bait and switch if I've ever seen it, and assuming it was MS's idea, fucking lame.
