I LIKE to see games that are far off. First, I'm not going anywhere. I'm still going to be playing games in a few years. And second, I like that showing some games shows where the future of the medium will be in a few years. Seeing so many people go "mwah, Shenmue 3 isn't coming out this year or NEXT YEAR!!!" it's like who fucking cares? Are you a babby? They announced a kickstarter and used the attention to launch into the most successful kickstarter ever. And in the meantime a ton of people had an emotional, unforgettable moment that united them as a community and will be with them for the rest of their lives. God people are so fucking jaded about everything. Just constant whining.
Nice tag. Jk

I don't mind it either. Kyle Bosman has a nice video on it can't link to it rn. But it's nice what's coming soon and further down the line. I think secrecy is dumb.

I just personally don't see the point. Show it when its close and ready, it does nothing for me if its 3,4,5,
10
years out.

You say who cares if it won't be out any time soon but, why should i care right now about a game that'll be out in 5 years? I mean, i guess yeah now i know its coming eventually, but i still would have known if it was announced within a reasonable time frame.

Thank God for Sony, honestly.

Because I wait all year for E3, and EA and now MS are really fucking blowing it.

This has been one depressing ass E3 so far for fuck sakes.

Still got Beth, and Ubi left. So maybe we can salvage something. But for one of the big 3 to just underwhelm like that really REALLY sucks.

I wanted a gamechanger. Where everyone just goes "holy FUCK!". Like Devil May Cry, Ninja Gaiden, Borderlands 3. A new MS triple A ip that you talk about after the show because you can't believe it. SOMETHING. But that conference was a lot of nothing.
Maybe because it was so long that it diluted the other good stuff? Anthem was great though.

Also, maybe Nintendo will have something. So far though, woof.

You don't have to care. So don't care. The stuff coming out this year is going to come out regardless of whether or not it gets a stage show. Why you wouldn't want the opportunity to know facts and data as soon as you can is something I won't get ever!

As for Bethesda, I only need to see TEW2. God bless them for securing a japanese studio otherwise I wouldn't give a fuck about their conference

Neogaf needs a like post button.

Because me just saying I like this post does nothing.

+1 though. Like, fucking PLUS ONE.

I'm with you. Hopefully Sony comes in to save the day as usual. Even just showing the games we already know about will be more exciting than what has been shown.

E3 is normally Christmas as right now I've yet to get a gift that gets me pumped.

EA had 39 #gamechangers playing bf2 were you not satisfied?

Say it.

I have too much going on in my life to be that concerned over a video game. It will come out when it comes out. In the meantime, play the overwhelming amount of quality titles releasing on a regular basis.

Because the further out something is the more potential there is for substantial changes before launch, as we've seen repeadedly with numerous games, FFXV being the most infamous for it. The game you showed 5 years ago likely isn't the same exact game as it was first shown. So rather than be disappointed at what no longer is or perhaps never really was just, or even what might never come to be (rip scalebound) just show it when its ready.

I've come around to early announcements. Show me what's in the pipeline.

Agreed esp. with how Sony does it where they announce stuff far out but mix in stuff we'll be playing soon like Days Gone, Detroit, GoW, Spidey, etc.

They do it impeccably IMO...

Eh, that's partially true, but honestly over the last 2 years I noticed that Phil likes to be vocal on twitter but ultimately their conferences always underdeliver [imo of course] while Sony often likes to sit quietly and then drop the bombs during the actual conference.

No surprise there, this year is basically the same as far as I'm concerned. Lots of hyping and underdelivering.

And I couldn't help myself and made another gif. :p

But I wasn't disappointed that FFXV wasn't as good as I hoped it would be based on the early trailers...I was just disappointed it was a shitty jankthon openworld crap fest designed for people who like to "explore" open plains.

When they announced it was almost irrelevant! :D

I don't expect to see Borderlands 3 until next year at the earliest but I'm certainly open to being surprised. But we got a tech demo early this year guys, it doesn't seem like they're super far in development.

Even if conferences were standard or disappointing, you can't deny that we already have some fantastic games coming up in the future, sequels and new ips. :)

The difference is that FFXV was all SE. Sony first party games rarely changed from the initial reveal.

I think Gearbox really needs that now. They've got Destiny 2 and Anthem coming in hot for their space.

what's the best show sony has ever done? 🤔

For me:

2015, the year of dreams conference that made grown ass, cynical, down trodden gamers cry with happiness. The holy trinity, of course and the reveal of HZD.

2nd place goes to PS4 2016, because holy shit games overload and tlou2.

While I don't expect it to be better than 2016 for me, it's not impossible. Last year's show had a large chunks that I consider skip worthy. VR, COD, Lego Star Wars, Skylanders were all things that I skip through on re-watches, and that's nothing to sneeze at for a show just over an hour.

Even things like spidey and death stranding were awesome, but don't come close to the best parts. Substantial looks at a game will always be king for me.

So yes 2016 was really damn good, but I don't put it in some kind of unachievable godlike tier. Really no year is like that. Even the best shows have enough disappointing aspects that leave room for improvement.

Time to make one last prayer before I go to sleep:

Itsuno-sama who arth thou at Capcom,
Hallowed be thy controller
Thy mercy come,
Thy game design be done,
in action gaming, as it is stylish
Give us this day our daily action gaming,
and forgive us our impatience,
as we also have forgiven those who are more impatient.
And lead us not into mediocre action games with stamina bars….
but deliver us #Devil May Cry 5 @ E3 2017.

Amen

Just release a teaser Capcom for DMC5. We don't need much just to know the game exists at this point.

I feel like Sony is going to steal the show this year. Hopefully it's a step up from the awfulness of both MS and EA.

I'm on board with this and I wish MS and Nintendo would take a hint from how successful Sonys conferences have been. I want to know what is actually coming to the platforms I own instead of wondering if the release slate will remain bare (mainly looking at Nintendo). It at least lets us know there is plenty to look forward to.

I've had a sony console for like a year and s half, what do i know.
not sarcasm btw

I dunno, Borderlands has always been a very different experience from games like that and 2 had great single player content, which is more than i can say for Destiny.

Sony, honestly, just has too many games coming out over the next 9 months.

Sure, the conference could be over 2 hours or they could save them for next year. I'm all for new game reveals but this show is stacked already. Some CGI teasers would be nice
