If there's one thing I'm surprised about a Trump president, it's that I didn't expect he'd have time to tweet this much. I legit thought there would be too much work for him to really think about tweeting lol.

I'm also having a hard time imagining scenarios of political corruption that work from the news media downwards.

I'm beginning to think he's not good with metaphors.
You know, Donald really is like a platypus in a Volkswagen, not good with metaphors.

That's the odd thing about our system of government, both Congress and the President. The Constitution is long on powers, but short on responsibilities. Senators can take 2 years off to run for President with no repercussions, and can probably do next to nothing and still cash a paycheck.

Even the President doesn't have to do anything if he doesn't want to. I believe all the Constitution says he absolutely has to do is brief Congress on the State of the Union once a year, but that can be satisfied with a one sentence letter if need be. Just about everything else is optional.

Then fucking do it. This is what I don't get about Donald Trump: does he not know he's President? You want an investigation in Hillary Clinton by the A.G.? Then fucking call him and tell him to make one.

One of his campaign promises was a special prosecutor to look into Hillary Clinton! Whatever happened to that? Oh, I know what happened: Donald Trump is a giant pussy, that's what happened.

"Russia", this tweet checks off all the normal boxes for his tweets. I swear, the template is so obvious at this point. Getting rather dull.

Wonder if SHS and/or Scaramucci will be on today?

He's been hacked. There's no way he has "beleaguered" in his vocabulary.
It strikes me as a newspaper word. It's not something you often encounter in contexts apart from the news, and not something you hear spoken much at all. So it makes sense to me given his obsession with, for example, Maggie Haberman, although it is odd.

Never really thought about it that way. I guess I'm just used to the idea of the modern president and Trump is just such a radical departure from it.

PoliGAF 2017 |OT5| Recused from Russian collusion

I don't get why Shuumer said, “When you lose to somebody who has 40 percent popularity, you don’t blame other things — Comey, Russia—you blame yourself,” Do Democrats really need to keep infighting like this? It makes me wonder if they'll pull hard left like the Republican's went far right for the midterms.

Hey gang,

Feeling pretty bummed out that Kushner, Jr., and Manafort get to talk privately to Congress w/out being under oath. Is there a silver lining here, and if so what is it? Because, from my limited perspective, this tastes like dogshit.

Sincerely,
Rumblehumble

If they lie to congress it's still a crime.

Trump wants Rudy as his AG

https://www.axios.com/exclusive-trump-ponders-rudy-giuliani-for-attorney-general-2464579234.html

President Trump is so unhappy with Attorney General Jeff Sessions that he has raised the possibility of bringing back Rudolph Giuliani to head the Justice Department, according to West Wing confidants.

In internal conversations, Trump has recently pondered the idea of nominating Giuliani, a stalwart of his campaign.

Even before last week's blast at Sessions in a New York Times interview, Trump had expressed fury at Sessions — also one of the first prominent Republicans to back the
Trump campaign — for recusing himself from the Russia investigation.

And in a Monday morning tweet, Trump referred to "our beleaguered A.G." not investigating Hillary Clinton.

Wouldn't Rudy also likely have to recuse from the investigation?

He would've nominated Rudy in the first place if there were any chance of his being confirmed. If he couldn't pass the Senate in January, he sure as hell can't now.

Rudy is also extremely suspicious. He was teasing big news that was going to drop right before the Comey letter. I doubt anyone would let that slide in confirmations.

Giuliani would be a terrible AG but I wouldn't expect him to restart the drug war only in 'urban' areas the way Jefferson Beauregard has.

Regarding this Rudy would have to recuse himself from campaign matters, right?
It's an idiotic notion, really. I doubt Rudy would get 50 for confirmation and being that he was a staunch surrogate during the campaign, yes its very likely he would need to recuse himself from the Russian investigation anyways.

lol of all the people, I think I'll be calling the Attorney generals office and tell him to stand tall and strong against trump. History remembers, he's on a tipping point, either to be forever remembered as a traitor, or as someone from a grey background, who finally did the right thing.

lol, Im supporting Sessions if he is the person preventing mueller from being fired.

A hard left from the Democrats might resemble most other developed countries center or center-right positions. Would be a refreshing change of pace.

What's the basis for thinking Guliani wouldn't get confirmed? Anything more than banking on the hope that the Senate GOP won't just rubber-stamp anyone he sends their way like they have everyone to this point?

Wasn't someone in this thread making this exact same point yesterday? What an honor. Gaf > POTUS > Gaf.

We are rapidly approaching the point where the media is going to start ignoring these little tweetstorms. He is starting to repeat himself too much and the whole thing feels stale. Once that happens, he will be forced to push further to get attention and that's when the real fun starts.

I have no idea why this myth persists. Democrats aren't strictly to the right of, say Germany's SPD. On some things like free college they might be further right, but on others like unauthorized immigration they're quite left.

International politics can't really be reduced to a single left right scale.
