don't compare the two situations

One was a situation that happened over a period of months. A situation where the local governor enacted a law that labeled the incident as a state of emergency.

the other just started today

everything I read about this is really depressing. so many people are so angry and misguided. In the footage I've been able to find, people are shouting, screaming or stooping as low as getting violent with those who they encounter who disagree with them. why are we like this

They are clearly and unequivocally endorsing fascism. "Democracy has failed you." They are proposing all national power be consolidated in the hands of white men. They are proposing all other groups be overtly and forcibly oppressed.

Nazism is a specific subset of fascism. Fascism need not be racially or ethnically based but it generally is, although Mussolini was a socialist in his youth and included some syndicalist thinking in his form of it and was generally resistant to dividing ethnically due to Italy's history. Hitler had a different concept of what the "nation" entailed that was predominantly ethnically determined.

The free market is not the enemy, but global finance is. Average businesses will keep their usual functions and retain a profit motive. Once they are brought to heel, our currency will no longer be manipulated on the whims of the vested few, our jobs and industry will not be exported to foreign nations, and the media and entertainment industries will no longer be allowed to poison the minds of our people.

Edit: you might wanna make it clear who you're talking about, because it almost sounds like you're shaming the counter-protesters.

In sum, rallies like these are essentially invitations for conflict. Obviously far more people disagree with them than agree. They only want to piss everyone off and make themselves look like martyrs of an oppressed minority. Don't give them that.

A local emergency has been declared in Charlottesville and police are stating that the situation is now an "unlawful event".

Edit: don't know of this applies to the entire area.

See, if they're "fucked in the head", wouldn't that make them deserving of our sympathy? I doubt you assume that's the case as you probably want to assign some moral culpability to them. That's an understandable position only if you assume their racism is willfully malevolent and not the result of some innate failing.

Well, there's generally two views about it from what I can gather:

A. White people are genetically superior so they deserve the land, Native Americans should go back to Siberia.

Or

B. White people were actually here first because of the Solutrean hypothesis (which, aside from the fact that it's not true, doesn't make sense because the Solutreans weren't white).

I know this is most likely a rhetorical question.

But Trump and them winning the WH was just the beginning. Now they can openly do this and feel emboldened.

Fucked in the head does not mean mentally ill, if that's the way you're seeing it. In this context it does mean willfully malevolent. But then again, you totally skirted the edit I made.
