I don't know how many here use Origin but Steamworld Dig is free on Origin for a limited time before SD2 launches on the Switch. Not on Steam though.

Just reading the "For the PC gamers, how often do you 'max out' your games?" thread

Can someone explain the hate for AA, Chromatic Aberation, Motion blur and depth of field?

I always turn on CA (well, almost always), AA, DOF, MB and Vsync - fight me!

Yup, 1440p and g-sync will be fine. Any other spec I should be looking for?

[edit] Whoa, €700 for a ASUS ROG Swift PG279Q. I guess I do have the money for it next month though.

Like Atraveller said, they all share the same panel but the ASUS is considered the premium one. Check out the USB ports as well, the Viewsonic only has 2.0 ports on the side, the 3.0 and 3.1 are hidden at the back, super annoying.

You can get a 4k 27" at that price but they are only 60Hz!

Some games depth of field is great for hiding the not so great lod some games have. Which in those cases i keep it on.

Motion blur is annoying in most games

Ca is same that shit in dying light and lords of fallen was shocking

So glad I bought Skull Girls for a dollar (~3 BRL) yesterday:

Guacamelee! Gold Edition -- MB-932B3B9FC714BA06

Nobody claimed Guacamelee? Most people probably already own it, or the Championship edition, but people who haven't tried it yet should definitely grab it for free now. Awesome game.

EDIT: Glad someone got it.

The success of PUBG and Overwatch, with Destiny 2 looming, makes competitive shooters a stifled market right now.

I want to try Mirage on the sole basis of how much great fun Chivalry was for a little while.

Maybe CliffyB can get started on an uninspired take on that game?

Not really Steam but I was trying to ge the TItanfall 2 trial on Origin but it's stuck at 46% installation and i can't cancel it or close Origin, what do I do

Speaking about graphical settings, i tested GTX 1080ti, changed only GPU (old one was GTX 770). Turned on every feature and settings to ultra, and after comparing benchmark results i guess i did right thing that didn't bought 4K monitor. Even 1080ti can't handle stable 60FPS with all shit enabled in most graphically demanding games.

For example, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided (Ultra settings, MSAA x4):
GTX 770
Average: 23.6 FPS
Min: 7.9 FPS
Max: 30 FPS
GTX 1080ti
Average: 50.1 FPS
Min: 7.9 FPS
Max: 62.2 FPS

Rise of the Tomb Raider (Ultra, SSAA x4):
GTX 770

GTX 1080ti
dtpV2Z4.jpg

Far Cry Primal
GTX 770
Average: 29 FPS
Min: 38 FPS
Max: 62.2 FPS
GTX 1080ti
Average: 73 FPS
Min: 47 FPS
Max: 90 FPS

System specs except GPU remains the same, CPU i5-3507k and 8gb DDR3, DX11, 1920x1080. Not sure if CPU and memory are bottleneck in this case, but personally i just got confirmation that it's not the right time to upgrade for 4K and better wait another 2-3 years for new GPU and monitors generations.

Enabling MSAA these days will annihilate any possibilities of having decent performance. Besides, MD is *very* demanding on Ultra.

1080p scales up really nicely on my 4K TV, I don't regret the purchase at all. If you lower some settings, you could probably reach 1440p/60 in RotTR quite easily. But I agree GPU tech is lagging behind currently.

I just received my Steam Link. And if Steam starts up in BPM on my desktop when I start it up on the Steam Link, then why in the hell did I buy a Steam Link... I bought the Steam Link to get around the program starting up in BPM on my desktop...

I already have my desktop PC connected to my TV through HDMI.

So is this really it? I can't start up Steam on the Steam Link without it taking up the whole monitor on my PC? If Steam would just stay in the tray then that would be alright.

This box is now useless to me.

*Unplugs Steam Link*

I must be half-dumb since I know it's a "streaming box," but I had really hoped to circumvent having to have Steam in BPM on my PC ugh.

[edit] Maybe I will bring it and connect it at my parents place then. I must have some Steam games my mother would like and can play from there.

Far Cry Primal is hugely single threaded.

The other two games, Ultra might come along with super sampling anti aliasing or some similarity intensive process.

Rise of the Tomb Raider in particular looked really great at medium/high at 60 fps. Maxing out the game is a waste of power tbh.

Yeah, the Steam Link literally just streams your PC's video out. That's all it does. It doesn't act as a second monitor or anything. If you have your PC connected to the TV, there's no point in owning one.

I've seen a lot of people not be able to understand the Link or its purpose and I wonder if Valves marketing is too confusing or something. It's a super simple product, does one thing really well.

I finally finished Sonic Mania (not even with the true ending though), and it took me 10 hours.

The average according to HLTB is 4.
I fucking suck at Sonic >_<

I think the fault is partly my own, but I guess I was hopeful.

Hmm, maybe I can use it on my travels and such, and suddenly I will have access to my Steam library every in the world where there's a fast Internet connection.

PS: I am keeping an eye on all of the g-sync monitor recommendations, very much appreciated. Thanks.

Yeah we're not at the single GPU 4K/60 max with every game yet, but that's because a lot of games also have some unoptomized or extremely intensive settings that kill your framerate.

For example, turn off on Mankind Divided's Hardening Shadows and you'll literally get 20% or more FPS.

If someone takes the time with the settings and doesn't turn every single option all the way to the right, they can get 4K/60 with a 1080ti on 99.5% of all games.
