Good to hear. I'm still hesitant to cancel my amazon.de order despite having a best buy one as I really don't trust Nintendo at this point. Will it ever be at the point where I can just walk into a store to snag one or will it remain a lottery every time the stores refresh their stock for another year?
I'm guessing finally getting through the thick skulls of their ancient board of directors.
Ppl blame Reggie, but Reggie doesn't set manufacturing allotment. He's just a PR guy.
is this just Nintendo of Japan? I wouldn't take this as confirmation of NOA's plans until we hear anything that specifically mentions North America.
He's the President of NOA. He should have some say in manufacturing (that's just my opinion of course).
Does all the manufacturing occur overseas?
So that still means barely any supply? Gotcha.
They may make more for the time being, but it doesn't mean it's going to be in large quantities.
Not quite. More SNES at launch than NES last year (so November+December), but they kept shipping more NES until April if I recall. So not more than "the entire run" on launch day. What? They even said they'd have more stock at launch than they had the entire run of the NES Classic.

Still a huge improvement, just correcting the details in your post
All those SNES scalpers with multiple pre-orders... the return hassle with no profit is delicious.
Also, if Nintendo was really making an effort to make things right, they would release the NES Classic again. Nintendo will never be a bag holder when it comes to stock, their only intention is to make less than demand every time.
You are the only one being misleaded. Dont blame anyone
Reading the thread title alone would have sufficed.Did you read the announcement? They are!
I don't get why they just can't sell these things normally. Why this limited run shit?
"We have this product that is massively popular. Lets sell them for a few months then stop for no fucking reason" - Nintendo.
If they supply enough it will outsell the Switch this holiday alone. Maybe they've been limiting stock because they've foolishly been worrying about the optics of that.I wonder how many Snes they will actually produce. Would be kind of hilarious if it outsells the Wii U.
Huh?Secondly. Unlike the NES classic, there are 3 different continents with 3 different SNES designs. Cross continent sales to collectors are going to be big deal.
I can't help but think that the NES Mini momentum have already passed.

It would've sold millions more if it was released on Christmas last year with way more stock.
Now everyone will have that hot SNES mini and when they see the NES Mini in a store they will just say: Neat huh.
So then no N64 classic in 2018? I doubt Nintendo would put an NES and N64 classic on the shelf at the same time.
Was that so hard?? Never seen a company fight so hard not to take money from eager consumers. The manufacturing limitations defense force can fuck off for good now.
I really don't think an N64 classic would have the same overall appeal/sales potential as the (S)NES. Narrower market, less overall nostalgia, and a smaller selection of High-caliber games, especially if Rare is a no-go.
