I didn't post since everything happened, but let's go, this is it.

This isn't a battle between forums, this isn't about killing GAF or anything like that.

If you think this is the point, then the point flies right over your head.

People are leaving by principles. People are leaving because they do not want to be represented here. People are leaving because they don't want to support a platform for which the owner does not reflect the image and values they want to share.

If you think this is just a forum for which the owner has nothing to gain, you're wrong. Being here and providing content creates traffic, traffic sees ad. Owner gains profit with ad revenue. If you don't want to support the owner of this platform, the best way to NOT help is by either quitting or not posting or visiting here in the future.

People leaving aren't doing it for fun, it's a form of protest, to make a statement that they do not accept or support the behavior of the owner. I never wanted things to turn out like this, I felt very invested in this place...I wrote this post with a heavy heart.

That is most likely my final post here. I fucking loved NeoGAF for the 7 years I was here. I loved the communities, but now is the time to leave.

I deleted all my work here, saved everything and will transfer at the new place.

For those of you who stay, I wish you a nice continuation.

For those who migrate, see you on the other side. ;)

I will miss this place a lot, but it will most likely never be the same.

It's gonna be "gaf part 2" for better or for worse. I wouldn't expect anything to be significantly different than what gaf used to be (probably including the trigger happy mods, but we can try to give them the benefit of the doubt).

Like I said earlier, a lot of the people that went over there were dicks here. But a lot of the good/great people here went over there too.

Well I only lurk OT now, especially political stuff, so whether the mods are similar to what GAF had or not, I won't ever know because I've learned my lesson the first time. I didn't like not being able to hangout with gaming communities because someone decided to get themselves bent out of shape and ban me without ever even giving me as much as a warning, and all because they decided to basically label me as something despite my entire post history for years showing otherwise. It was the first time I was banned at any forum in the 15 years I've actively partook in large scale forum communities and it was done so quickly and without any prior communication or anything.

To me it's just not worth it, on GAF, ERA or otherwise.

So i'll only post where things tend to remain civil. Gaming communities. :)

There’s no code on the registration screen for me to make an account to begin with. What’s with all the cloak and dagger stuff? I just want to be where the community is. PM with assistance please

You need to get into one of the community discords and become vetted for a code. I've been trying to get access to a few of the discords but all of the invite codes are invalid/expired.

Ugh What secret code?

I'm not sure how everything went down but the Discord channel is where people got the invite codes originally I guess?

I'm guessing A LOT of posters were left stranded who weren't keeping tabs on everything going on.

(I'm also in need of an invite haha)

Is that not a shitty thing to do? Not only are you punishing EL you are also taking away from the members that did nothing wrong.

"I'm being a dickhead on principle!" *shakes fist*

Access to the forums is currently only from vetted members in certain discord channels. I don't think you're able to be vetted anymore, either. You'll have to wait until the registration opens to the public.

Can I sign up with a gmail account when public registration opens up?

Believe me, I don't want to punish any members, it is not my goal, it is part of my protest.

I'm sorry if this move offends anyone though.

My work will be available elsewhere, no need to name it. I'm already in place, I just need to work on my banners and everything will follow. :)

Now this is sad.

The correct mode of action would have been to take a leave of absense, and if that is in itself a form of punishment, so be it, these are serious issues of a serious nature, and even if I do not believe the accuser is acting in good faith, at least Evilore is. I do not have that assurance.

Lastly, things happen in relationship that people regret, after the fact. People can be made to feel taken advantage of, and dismissing this out of hand is betraying a misunderstanding of human nature. People are vindictive, and petty too, but at the end of the day, there is a mutual lack of respect.

Repect engenders respect, and at least one side has been known to have a pattern of less than repectful attitudes towards women in personal situations. If I were a lawyer, Evilore's past actions do not paint an especially flattering picture and I would recommend shutting this forum down, or removing himself from it.

I agree. If Evilore had come out and said something like "I regret what happened, I made the wrong call. We actually went on to have a sexual relationship for a while and I never realised my actions had affected her in this way. I apologise and will scrutinise my behaviour more in future" then I don't think a lot of the fallout would've happened.

Closing the forums and "she isn't credible, she's mentally unstable, she was jealous (she's bi), harmonious and consensual, etc" was totally the wrong call , especially after the other incidents came to light. The response also made people think spouting about "SJWs, snowflakes, white knights, cry-babies" etc was acceptable. Sure, most were banned but the fact that the response attracted those kinds of posts shows how it was received by people.

Looks like I got lucky on the open registration yesterday. The confirmation e-mail finally made it through.

For anyone looking for a code, you first have to join one of the Discords in order to be vetted. New codes were shared earlier, but I'm unsure if they still work and if there will be more of them.

The public registration should open in a few days anyways. You'll need an institutional mail, same as GAF, for that.

Now this is sad.

About as sad as taking your ball and going home? As if there isn't a more mature way of handling things...

I mean seriously. Outside of the content deletion and ridiculous announcement you replaced your threads with a picture of the logo of the other new forum.

Reallllly?

Very well stated. I left my post open to interpretation and as an option to those who don't feel the same as how you put this. No matter how you slice this issue, people fall wherever they do on the spectrum of opinion, whether it be extreme empathy or otherwise. Not everyone will share your view of how this community is looked upon, which is why I provided an option.

I hardly post here and I'll probably not post much if I do make it over there, so I'm not part of any community and never have on my time with this site. I'd like to think of my posts as more of the peanut gallery variety since that's the reception I usually received.

All my work will be available elsewhere, I simply do not want my work available on this platform for obvious reasons. The logo is there as a pointer to where my work will be available from now on, as of tonight.

Is this such a hard thing to understand? As long as my work is somewhere on the internet, it is public. If you need anything from my past work, you'll find it, just not on NeoGAF.

Call me whatever you want, lad, you won't change a thing. Consider this debate as closed.

If this increases the chance of passing the message through, can you really blame him? As far as I understand his work hasn't vanished from the internet. Just go the other forum he announces and you'll get the exact same content that you enjoyed prior to the incident.

Yes, the users that are stubborn enough to stick to a single forum end up being collateral damage, but if he thinks that is the price to pay to pass the message then so be it.

While true to many people but I don't agree with this 100%. There are many that left or are leaving because they dont really have a choice (since they follow established contents, content creators, and people in their circle).
