RIP Andy

If you want to see Andy Griffith in a role unlike anything he ever did, watch Murder in Coweta County. AG as a racist plantation/mob boss, and Johnny Cash as the lawman who brings him down.

Odd, I was just thinking about him the other day and wondering how he was doing. My dad is a huge fan of the Andy Griffith show so growing up it was always on the tv whenever it was on. Love the show and was sad with Don Knots passed.

Definitely a classic. Watched The Andy Griffith show religiously alongside I Love Lucy and Gilligans Island as a youth.

Grew up watching the AGS and Matlock because of my family. This is really sad. Last thing I heard about him was when he endorsed Obama back in 2008.

If heaven is real my dad is so fucking happy right now. He's probably kickin' it with Andy as we speak.

RIP Andy. Thanks for the great television.

Man my Grandma had me watch every episode of AG as a kid.
Loved it .
Best episode.

RIP. :( Mayberry was a huge part of my growing up. That and Andy's football story which Fnord referenced above.

Everyone needs to seriously watch this movie. Absolutely in my top 3 all time.
Andy Griffith is amazing in this, and it was his first ever role I believe. He stopped doing films for decades after it because how scary the character became to him.

He went on do the the Andy Griffith show so he could play a genuinely nice character. Opposite of the movie.

Man, I remember teaching myself the Andy Griffith theme over a whole summer. Id sit around watch reruns during the afternoons just whistling along till I got it right.

He lived a great life though and left the earth a television classic. That's a great way to go.

I never watched much of Matlock, so I know him primarily from the AG show. I used to watch it at my grandmother's house as a child. Fantastic entertainer.

As in "Heathcliff"
RIP.

I only knew him as Matlock. Such legendary character and show, used to watch it with my folks when I was a kid. Angela Lansbury is the last murder mystery solver left since Peter Falk has passed too :(

edit. he was also in that awful Spy Hard movie

Seriously, Peter Falk died. I am not sure if I'm aware of it or not.

RIP Falk and Griffith!

He was a very likable actor. I never had any interest in the Andy Griffith Show and avoided it growing up (even though I loved many other 1960s sitcoms) but just within the last couple years decided to give it a shot and liked it a lot. Gentle but still amusing humor and charming characters, particularly Andy.
