Halo |OT8| A Salt on the Control Room

Wait, I thought Needler/Needle Rifle was the way to go? Or am I missing a thatsthejoke.jpeg moment?

I cannot tell you the amount of times I have tried to use a needle weapon on a Reach Brute, only to have the little bastard go into Armor Lock. WHEN IT DOES NOT HAVE POWERED ARMOR. Trust me, use the Shotgun. I've never used the PP on them, though, have to try that.

$75 special edition soundtrack
$99.99 limited edition version of the game.
$400.00 limited edition of a 7 year old console

Lol

Yep, agree mate. I already shelled out for a slim 250Gb replacement of my vanilla 360. I'll wait for Halo 5 next generation special edition now thanks.

$75 for some vinyl. man Microsoft is really milking Halo fans.
There's a considerable amount of stuff included other than the vinyl (which isn't actually a record with the soundtrack on it from my understanding), the book, BTS doc, and signed print are pretty cool. Is it worth $75? Debatable, however at least some pretty nifty stuff is included in the package. Would've been nice to see the console, LE of the game, LE OST, and the Halo 4 edition Tritton headset be bundled together for an ultra-Legendary edition.

Nice thread on Waypoint, by the way. Little hypocritical/ironic, no?

Fret not, Breaking the Cieling will be a DLC achievement.

So apparently a microsoft store opened in the Prudential Building in Boston.

Halo 4 ExperZone Slides

Old but with what we know now, we can make some better informed assumptions.

- 10 new weapons
- 2 new vehicles
- "Improved Accessibility/Approachibilty" Don't know what to make of this one.
- "Progression System" spells very little for "ranks" ie. punished for losing
- Ability to Drop in and out of matches - Most exciting new future, could mean a custom game browser
- Create , Organize and track groups -Could only mean CLAN support.
- New gametypes
- Spartan Ops, first season (5 weeks, 50 missions) is FREE but the wording make it seems like FUTURE missions will be paid.

Personally, any information officially released by 343 should be discussed openly. Only stuff 343 is intentionally keeping under wraps should be tagged for those avoiding it. That's the general policy that has been followed since the Halo 2 days.

Otherwise, we have no way of knowing what will spoil some people and what won't, and the thread becomes an unreadable mess of blacked out text. The onus is on you to avoid Halo discussion threads if your spoiler threshold is lower.

I have no problem with material that 343 reveal but the spoiler character reveal was not in any of the 343 tracklistings/material that we've read today (I'm told that it's from an achievement list which 343 specifically put a warning to not read unless you didn't care about detailed spoilers ie. --- killing --- is the example they gave)

If 343 marked it as spoilers, I'm not sure why it wasn't spoiler tagged here.

Heads up competitive fans, MLG has only 1 spot for a shooter next year from the interview they had on LiveOn3. So basically us against CoD Black Ops 2.

Yeah, they did tag it as spoilers, should have done the same here.

Needler/nerfle is best, you two are nuts.

To be clear, I'm talking about a Firefight context. In Firefight, 1) Catch is turned on most rounds, so tagging a Brute with a single needle causes them to dodge. Have fun. And 2) they armor lock like nobody's business.

The Plasma Pistol has the following advantages:

1) Brutes do not dodge away from it.

2) When Brutes take a certain amount of damage, they flinch, or stagger for a moment. Perfect time to land a sticky grenade, usually taking their pack mates out with them.

3) Is a more flexible tool; the Plasma Pistol/DMR combo is ideal for every enemy and vehicle combination in the game, except for Hunters who usually require some heavy ordnance. Which means

4) No need to go hunting for a Nerfle when Brutes roll in - I have all that I need on hand.

With a PP/DMR I can take down an entire set in Firefight comfortably.

I really have to try that some time. But I still say the Shotty is best against Brutes, just for the sheer stopping power and the fact that it's a loadout weapon, which means infinite ammo.

It takes them down fast, but you have the disadvantage of having to use close quarters. The PP has range going for it, at the cost of some speed.

Argh... hope no longer exists in Halo :(

No competitive ranking system, no MLG events, no local tournaments.

Wow, that soundtrack is ridiculously expensive.

Yeah, it sucks. :/ I really want everything in that package too, except the vinyl and avatar stuff, too. I'd be pretty disappointed if this isn't still available later, I'd be willing to pay full price even as long as I don't have to do it right now.

Also, I don't think there's been any other way to get the remix CD besides the $75 edition. Is that really going to be the only way to get it? Will it not be downloadable as well?

How did COD do when it was on the circuit before? I was always under the impression it had fewer viewers than halo every time though I guess the spectator mode would help MLG out a lot with casting.

Towards the end of the 2010 season Black Ops was beating Halo Reach in viewers, granted it was bloom w/ Reach.

Haha Grifball is so bad. Betrayels from moron teammates everywhere. Just make the bomb explode after awhile and turn Betrayels off. Guests on the other team go super positive because host. Morons on my team go -14 -19 -12 and I still manage to go positive.

So what's the deal with these custom challenges of the week? Can I do one a day? One a week? Unlimited per day until I hit the credit limit? I've never done one of these so I have no idea how it works.

I skipped through a good chunk of the achievements because of the "In Mission X, ___" lines since I'm assuming those spoil specific campaign moments. Should I still avoid them or are they alright to read?

I don't think they spoil anything. They are gameplay focused, like, kill a bunch of Wraiths, or catch air with a Warthog. I assumed I'd be doing those things.

Inspired by this thread, I want to ask HaloGAF a question: How many of you consider a Halo game to be your favorite game of this console generation? Or favorite game ever?

Halo is hands down my favorite game series, but I'm not sure if any of them individually are my favorite game ever. And as far as this gen goes, I think Super Mario Galaxy 2 -- beginning to end, pound for pound -- was more fun than any Halo game. It doesn't have the replayability of Halo, but it was nearly flawless while it lasted.

This could get way off topic really easily, but I'm still curious to hear what people think.

Just read them.

What's with all the
Covenant-specific scenarios
spread out in the Campaign?
Somehow the Covenant, or some of them, are working with the Prometheans. I think it's one of the big plot points in the campaign: Why?

Or didn't you want a fictional explanation? It looks more Garret answered your question correctly.

Holy crap... Just reread the bulletin. Eight missions? How many did the other Halos have?
Halo 1: 10; Halo 2: 15; Halo 3: 10(9); Halo 3: ODST: 10(9); Halo: Reach: 11(10)
