Needler has been my favorite of the new sounds. Heh

I'm not going to think much about it because I am guessing once I get to play it and have control of the sounds that they'll then sound great.

Hell, all of that sounds terrifying to me. Well, OK, not the fusion rod/coil thing. That sounds weirdly plain, but I'm sure the sound will only come to trigger my GTFO centers over time.

Nothing sounds how I would expect it to though. Everything sounds like a remix.

Needler sounds like an SMG, with no crystalline sounds. Plasma doesn't sound plasma-ish with the deep bass bits. This will take some getting used to.

My problem with the Covenant weapon sounds is they sound too similar to the human ones--clanky and metallic. If I close my eyes, I cannot tell if the plasma pistol and storm rifle are firing bullets or plasma. Even the needler has this metallic edge.

The only "pew-pew" gun is ironically the Beam Rifle, which sounded more like a pitched tuning fork and less like energy in the old days.

Yeah, the FRG was really tame sounding. I'm unsure if it's just due to Youtube and not experiencing it firsthand. Everyone who played said the sounds were a lot better than in the videos they had seen prior.

You're talking about the old MacFarlane, and their glory days are long gone. The closest thing they ever did to their old stuff with the Halo license was the Legendary Collection and those things shelf warmed. I actually regret not picking those up.

As someone noted, the Needler lacks crystalline sound. It should have... resonance? Now it is kind of a stapler.

The world should move completly to UTC, forget about GMT, EST and whatever the timezones are called. UTC +-[Hours] is so simple and efficient.

I know know that. But GMT is... biased, as it means Greenwich Mean Time. UTC is Coordinated Universal Time (IIRC, the abbreviation is kinda odd due to France, don't quote me on that, need to check).
So, UTC for everyone.

Finally watched the Covenant weapons vid with no music (which, I gotta say, was way better than the music in the UNSC vid). I like all the weapon sounds. I think the FRG sounds really awesome, and while I'll miss the old sharp sound of the beam rifle, the new sound is cool, too.

Borderlands 2 has brought my interest in Halo 4 to an all time low, hah. I was even tempted to throw caution to the window and read through the spoilers thread. But... I know I'll probably regret it at some point, even if it doesn't feel like a big deal now. Once my infatuation with BL2 dies down I'll feel hyped about Halo again, I'm sure.

Edit : Fracas, I can't, I gotta hang out with IRL friends today. Ugh, stupid friends getting in the way of Borderlands. ;-)

Halo 4 info blowout tonight on GTTV and then other sites. it should be enough to suck you back in, for sure. I mean hell, the promo confirms who/what is the villain in Halo 4.

Probably so, that was certainly the case when I played it.

But there's this level of...processing, I dunno what to call it, to everything. Most of the effects sound kind of same-y, like they all went through the same kind of noise filter. They've got this muffled squeakiness to them that I find really unusual. I suck at talking about sound since I'm not sure how to describe it, but if you listen to the clip and close your eyes, you might hear what I mean.
