Well, in general there's a disconnect between the UI of Win8 and WP8. I think WP8 will move to resemble Win8 more than the other way around for better or worse.

IE on WP is definitely lacking gestures.

The browser itself is nice and fast, but when you compare it to the usability of Dolphin Browser it's a bit of a disappointment. Having your bookmarks ready with one quick swipe and your tabs just there is really nice to have. Also, not being able to have extensions like LastPass in the browser itself is a pain in the arse.

There's definitely still work to be done, but in general I must say I'm very pleased to have taken the plunge to Windows Phone. I've had my 920 for not quite 2 weeks now, and I really can't see myself going back to Android.

Bringcast is buggy as well, it won't play 2/3 of the podcasts I subscribed to in the trial version, so I'm not buying the app. I give up on podcasts on wp8.

On another note, how do I get the phone to play Zune pass songs I downloaded to my PC? I can sync them to my phone with the desktop tool but when I try to play them it gives me an error message about the usage rights.

So apparently Nokia's HERE Maps app is already at number four on iTunes free apps above stuff like Pandora and twitter. That's sad and impressive at the same time.

Nope, but somehow, against all odds, the built in music/video app podcasts that I couldn't delete all updated, so for now it seems I'm ok.

I know someone mentioned it in this thread or the Nokia thread, but I updated my profile pic and it looked great at first, but after a while it changed, now its all pixelated. Apollo bug #520, it looks like we're getting all the old android bugs and problems now.

What are your expectations with the Windows Phone brand? Strong competitor with the top two? Have just enough support to continue the brand?

Okay, that didn't fix it. What the fuck is this shit. Has to be on my end, too, because my friend 's phone isn't doing anything. Not sure if it's carrier specific or my Lumia going crazy, though.

Nope, I'm pretty sure its on their end or the carrier. Do they have an android phone? Could be a bug. I would have them reboot their phone and if that doesn't work, call the carrier.

As a matter of fact, yeah. She was sending me a text with "Swype" or some shit and messed up and sent it as an MMS. I've been receiving it ever since, even though her phone says "Sent".

I'll ask her to reboot it, and if not I'll give the carrier a call.

Didn't work. Guess I'll have to call the provider tomorrow. Best get the survival kit ready, those are long waits.

I wish there was some working browser where you could change your user agent. Can't watch Giantbomb's videos because they require flash :/.

Easiest way to convert .avi's to a format for WP8? I just noticed when I used the sync app it wont even see videos that aren't compatible. Zune converted them for you at least.

Try WinFF.

If you have Windows 8, look for an app called "Format Converter X". It might do the job.

Yeah, didn't work at all. There are different apps that can do this, but they all don't work as intended on WP8. Bummer

Got my 8X, feels good man, literally, this thing feels great in the hand. In love. Also changing the UI to cobalt blue gives the perception that the exterior is more blue than it actually is. Its pretty cool.

For a second I read here something about a best tool to convert files for playback on a phone and whatnot and it felt like the Android thread.

One of my biggest pet peeves about WP8 - if I open up IE and go to a thread on NeoGAF for example, open some other apps then go back to IE and hit the back button, it goes back to the homescreen/my most recent app instead of back in the browser. I feel like I'm not using the multitasking properly on here.

You should launch it from the app switcher
