Luigi's Mansion 2 Official Site is up, lots of new info

I do not know about this. Please tell me about this.

Miyamoto showed it off at a few trade shows back in the day. It was a GC/GBA connectivity game that came with a tilt sensor that went in the GBA's cartridge slot; you'd tilt the GBA to control Kirby in 3D on the big screen, and at certain points Kirby would "fall" into the GBA and you'd play a little 2D minigame.

It was pretty much done, from the looks of things, but I guess they just decided not to release it due to the cost of the sensor, or because GC/GBA connectivity simply wasn't particularly popular.

Dat music.

Man, it took me AGES to stop whistling that every time I finished it up on Gamecube.

...no regrets. Still gonna whistle it when I vacuum the house.

13 hours on my finished file, and if I could keep this hardware I would be trying to unlock everything. EVERYTHING. There's so much stuff I suspect I missed. Gems for every mansion and I didn't even find all the Boos.

Does the game make it easy to go back to the old mansions and get all the stuff you missed? Is there a post-ending state or does the game go back to the latest save after the game is beaten?

I do not know about this. Please tell me about this.

Yes.

Jintor, what was your favorite mansion? How many missions are in each, and how complex do the missions get? Can you save in the middle of them?

Hard to say. I really liked the second mansion, but the last one is pretty good, too. They never really get too complex. There's, like, 5-6 missions p/mansion (although one or two only have 3-4) and a secret ghost level you'll unlock, I think, if you get all the Boos.

I didn't actually try saving mid-mission because I'd just close the DS...

I'm not sure what this means. So after you beat the final boss, your save puts you right before the final boss, and you can go back to previous mansions to tie up any loose ends?

Which mansion is the second mansion?

13 days to put my hand on this epic miyamoto game.

I think 3D in this game will blow my mind after playing time on C:MOF.

I hope there is so many bosses.

Basically the game just gives you a level select screen at that point. I mean, you've had it the whole game anyway, but...

Which mansion is the second mansion?

The one with the plants.

Thank you!

Everything you said sounds fantastic. Wish it was worldwide release was on the 20th. Or the 24th. :( Darn EU.

Thanks for answering our questions so far, Jintor. If I may ask a few more:

- Is there a selectable difficulty level, or perhaps a "second quest" that unlocks at the end of the game? I believe the PAL version of the original Luigi's Mansion had some sort of remixed campaign available after the first playthrough, with tougher ghosts, etc.

- If you replay a mission, can you rewatch the cutscenes, etc, that accompany the mission, I.E. boss intros, E. Gadd's briefing/debriefing, etc?

- So there's the Quest Mode, and the ScareScraper. What other options are on the main menu? Any unlockable collectibles like a 3D model viewer, concept art, etc?

- How many themes are there, musically? For example, I know the classic Luigi's Mansion theme makes at least one appearance, in Gadd's lab. Do we ever hear it in the mansion proper? And how many unique mansion themes would you say there are, musically?

- How many Toads do there appear to be in need of rescue? Are there multiple Toads per mansion?

- Is the fifth mansion a full-blown mansion like the other four?

- Is the final boss confrontation a compelling encounter?

That would be delicious. Would also like to know this, spoiler-tagged, of course. Unless it's a Super Mario 3D Land situation.

I like how Nintendo gives Next Level Games increasingly bigger projects with each success. I wonder what they'll work on next.

Can they handle HD development? They made a Captain America movie tie-in game for PS360. I feel like they will make something 3DS related if they are going to work with Nintendo again.

Except licensed games of that type are known for being rushed, cheap affairs. I don't think Captain America was indicative of that company's potential. Not saying these guys are going to be the next big thing, but I think Luigi's Mansion 2 is evidence that they can do good shit.

Yea, I didn't really think that. I hope they can beef up, or maybe Nintendo should do an acquisition and help them grow. I think it would be helpful for Nintendo to invest in more western studios and Next Level Games seems to have a great working partnership with Nintendo.

If I were Nintendo I'd give them something like Pikmin or even DKCR on 3DS.

Well Nintendo is making Monster Games work on DKCR 3D, so I wouldn't be surprised if Monster works on the sequel to DKCR.

This is the first time I've heard this. Hopefully the majority of the team is working on an original title
(FZero)
, otherwise I'll be really disappointed. :/

I still can't believe after all this time that they made a sequel to Luigi's Mansion.

When I actually take a moment and think about it, you're right. I can't believe it. A launch game for the GC, starring Luigi. And yet, they actually decided to make a sequel.

From their recruiting page I'm almost certain their next game will be for a Nintendo platform.

I thought Monster was really small? Maybe they are working on something else, though.

Awesome questions, let's see some answers man!

Would someone like to take the OT off my hands for this game. I apparently signed up to do it way back in 2011 so I completely forgot I was on for this.

If somebody is already doing it then great, otherwise make your presence known if you want to do the OT.

I think I may want to have a go at it, though it will be my first OT, so if someone else wants to do it, I would be fine with it.

I'm probably going to push this off until summer. I was all set to buy it but my friend who works at Target called me last night and said he'll have a copy of Fire Emblem waiting for me when I get paid Friday. After that demo...man, I need more.

Sorry, Weegee

Dunno if it's been posted in this thread, but everyone should be jamming to this while in here.

I never played the original but I'm pretty hopeful for this. The game looks so polished now and I feel like there are nearly endless possibilities for creative puzzles/secrets.

I'd probably have some spare time starting the 22nd if you either needed help? Also, was wondering if someone could direct me to the thread where people "dibs" OTs, would like to do a few smaller 3DS games.

Regarding the promotion, will it still count if I bought my 3DSXL back in Dec, but didn't register it yet? I was planning on buying this game on launch day, then registering both my XL and Luigi's mansion to get SM3DL. However, on the site http://club2.nintendo.com/3ds-xl-promo/ it says "Buy and Register a Nintendo 3DS XL System and the Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon game...between March 21 and April 30th..."

Does that mean the XL had to have been purchased after March 21st?

No register only. They don't know which system (code) was sold at this period or not (the codes are put in the boxes randomly).
