I think its just on the app versus the browser at least in my quick comparison of the two over wi-fi for episodes 4-7.
I fell behind on backlog season last week because I was in a pretty down mood. I didn't really want to watch anime. I'll try to get all caught up by the end of the week, especially since stuff is ending now.
Wandering Son 11
Obligatory mention of consistent high quality of the show.
There were a number of great moments in this episode, but the highlight has to be the flashback to Yuki and Shiina's story. I like how it fits into Takatsuki and Nitori's visit, and I also like the way they create parallels with Nitori's current situation. There's the obvious one at the beginning, but there's another thing about the flashback that I found interesting.
Here's how the flashback is introduced, coming off the commercial break. We've seen scenes like this before; it's a kind of confessional for the characters to talk to the viewer. They speak to the camera, they tell us what they're thinking. We trust the authenticity of these moments. They're incredibly intimate.
When Nitori remembers Yuki's story, we learn where it was actually told.
This does a lot of interesting things. It points out the artifice of the classroom confessional, for one. But I think there's also a lot of significance to the shot choice. The characters are close together, but we first see this from a distance. Yuki's story is something very intimate and personal for her (and for us), but Nitori still feels removed from it. So many people are telling him what they think, what they experienced, and what they want from him, when he's still struggling to figure out what he really wants for himself. In these subtle ways, the direction articulates the feelings of Nitori's internal monologue. It's craft like this that make the show so good at fairly presenting all its characters.
I'm looking forward to watching the finale tomorrow.

Like with this long shot, the show gave me some sympathy for Doi and his immature confusion, when I was ready to kick him in the shins minutes before.

I do an anime podcast that was supposed to a community thing for Anime Vice. But since Whiskey Media exploded, we mostly do it for our own edification (and to shoot the shit). Really surprised where the story went with this arc. Tsukasa surprised me as a character. I thought she was going to be a perfectionist but turns out she has her flaws. The story was good and liked the ending.
Really not a fan of OVA #1 but OVA #2 was cool. Miya is a pretty good character once they got rid of the meat bun act.
