Biggest thing I can remember from the early 360 days was the RROD fiasco. The old dashboard was decent. Definitely better than it is now.

Man, the blades dash feels like forever ago. I barely remember using them anymore, to be honest.

All honestly, though, besides the ads, I think I do like the newer dashes better. No real reason, I just think they look better.

Playing dead rising the first time was an insane experience. I played it with my friend, and we were just absolutely trashing a group of zombies. We had never experienced that before, good times.

The blades seem like something from a previous console.

I don't miss them one bit though I do prefer the fewer ads there.

I miss the old dashboard. Wish we could have that again with a better marketplace browser.

The XBLA marketplace as it is is still total shit anyway.

I still remember how blown away I was when i first saw Gears. I didn't get to play it until some years later but still was impressed with how good it looked.

I hated the blades. It would take ages for me to find anything I was looking for.

Was about to say this. It's damn near impossible to be efficient when looking for Arcade games or videos or anything with the Blades. The current dash is much better at that, especially with the Bing voice search stuff with Kinect.

The 360 had a really good launch line-up (PGR <3), and some truly incredible games early in its life.

Playing Crackdown and Gears co-op on live was something special.

I really hope MS can repeat itself with the new xbox's first year.

Wow, I had forgot about this first version where the Marketplace didn't have it's own blade. Indeed it feels like a very long time.

Fantastic start, it was slow, but it was the first to come out, 1 year in advance and its predecessor wasn't a success at all.

I liked the Blades. I remember thinking how the original 360 UI just blew my mind coming from the previous gen.

This screenshot was the start of next-gen for me.
Loved Dead Rising 1. Wish more games this gen were like it. Loved DR 2 too. I really hope 3 is there for the start of next gen, I'll buy it on either system.

Microsoft with that 2004 OS X envy. brushed metal and gel blobs everywhere.

How times have changed.

Don't forget Lost Planet.

Remember playing the hell out of Geometry Wars, Mutant Storm Reloaded and Zuma when I first got my 360.

Anyone else think Geometry Wars 1 is kinda shit? The difficulty in that game was wack.

The blades were good at launch but after a few months it became impossible to find anything as the amount of content increased, lots of drilling down. As flawed as today's dashboard is it's infinitely better than the blades were at the end of their life.

You just don't get it. It's all about the leaderboards and beating your friends' scores. And just because you suck at a game doesn't automatically make it 'kinda shit'.
