Take-Two expects GTA V to sell 18 million in first year, RDR DLC very profitable

Seems pretty reasonable overall.

He also said he expects Grand Theft Auto 5 to sell 18 million units in its first year. Zelnick said pre-orders for the title are doing “very, very, very, very, very, very well.” Grand Theft Auto 4 has sold 25 million units to-date, and the current install base is three times what it was when that game launched

Zelnick is of the belief that “A” games like GTA are what sell, not “B” games, and customers only want to purchase the best intellectual property out there. One such
title was Red Dead Redemption, a game with “immensely profitable” expansion packs.

The one which sold the most, however, was Undead Nightmare and its zombified cowpokes and wildlife.

“We had the presence of mind to add zombies to the title; and everyone always loves zombies,” Zelnick said. “I’d like to do zombies in everything, but I probably can’t say that here. But they do sell.”

RDR 2 (or whatever) is one of my most anticipated titles next gen. Will be glorious.

I'll probably skip GTAV

Very cool to hear about the RDR DLC, I know they weren't over the moon with the GTA4 DLC performance, it's great to see they've landed on a post-release strategy that works for them.

GTA V is going to be great and all, but... hook me up with an IV drip of RDR2 on next-gen directly into my VEINS.

RDR 2 is what will 100% get me to buy a next gen console. No doubt about it. Im willing to drop $600 for that game. The first was my game of this generation.

I think they underestimate how many people they put off with gta4 and the fact that standards are higher now for open world games for some people(just cause 2)
18 million seems ridiculously high

Anecdotes etc. but I agree completely. I preordered GTAIV. I'm skipping GTAV.

Considering the sales, still big online community for Xbox and reviews I think a small, vocal minority were put off; not MANY. Also, Just Cause 2 is a different kind of open world title.

Holding out hope that there will be nextgen versions of GTAV. GTAIV chugged on the ps3 and looked like someone forgot to defog the screen half the time. Rather play it on the PS4with a steady framerate and a nice resolution.

This is my stance. GTA4 was disappointing, so I am likely skipping 5, but RDR was glorious and I cant wait for a sequel.

They missed a huge opportunity not adding zombies into GTA IV.

Remove all the peds.

Just zombies in a barren, apocalyptic Liberty City.

Probably helped by the fact that RDR DLC wasn't exclusive to one platform.
