POKÉTON! New Pokémon anime starring RED (!) from Pokémon Red/Blue [Up: Trailer]

Yeah, it seems more like a special or something.
Didn't I see that this was going to be a weekly series? Perhaps a short one, but I'm really hoping this isn't a one-off. Maybe if it's successful they'll make more like it.

And hopefully the US won't be kept waiting too long...

- Long montage of in-between stuff if we're lucky -
* Red fights Lance
* Red fights Blue

END.

"The Origins" title is being lately used for movies that retell a part of a series, like the Madoka and Tiger and Bunny, what are the chances of this being a movie?

Red has a Charizard so that rules out the manga.

Actually, I hope they DON'T mirror what's done in the manga. Everyone's a bad guy...

Spoilers in manga, I guess
More than half of the Kanto gym leaders are Team Rocket members or they once were.

Will absolutely watch....but Red is supposed to be a badass. Left home without even fucking talking to his mother, and didn't pack shit.

The one thing I wonder is "why now"?

Why are they promoting back to the original Red and Green now with a special? Seems like it would have fit when they came out with the remakes. Not that I'm complaining, mind you.

Cause they can do whatever they want with pokemon :D

In order to get the attention of people who were kids when Red, Green, and Blue came out (through nostalgia) in hopes that they will become interested in the series again (with X & Y being the first 3D mainline game - this was basically any kid's dream in the late 90s/early 2000s)

Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan.

I actually want to watch this. It's been years since I actually badly wanted to watch anything Pokémon. Feels strange after so much time.

This shit just rings my nostalgia bell so hard. DAMN.

*US distribution rights to be purchased by 4kids/nelvana/etc. and the censors will cut, splice and rape it into oblivion to protect 'americas children'. Red will be called 'Ash'.

Does anyone NOT see this happening?

4Kids hasn't done anything Pokemon related in a long time. It's all done in-house now, I think.

Well, 4Kids is defunct for one. Pokemon is currently dubbed in-house by the Pokemon company, and it's a serviceable translation outside of replacing around half of the background music with Americanized bullshit. The TV specials and movies and such are usually handled better, so I'm hoping this will be too.

Personally I have been asking for a console game based on Ash's adventure, not the other way around.

The Light of El Cantare
Now that I've thought about it, I'm surprised that Nintendo didn't at least announce Red/Green for the 3DS VC to go along with this.

In the handheld games (Excluding the most recent Black 2 and White 2), he has 4 teams with more Flying-type Pokemon than Dragon-type Pokemon, and 4 teams with equal Flying to Dragon-type ratio. He's more of a Flying trainer than Dragon one. =P

He's definitely a dragon trainer. He has many Dragonite (Flying/Dragon, his favorite) and Dragon-like Pokemon such as Charizard, Aerodactyl or Gyarados. They look like Dragons, can fly like Dragons, but already have 2 types...they could be Fire/Dragon, Rock/Dragon or Water/Dragon.

Well, it's a franchise thing. In X/Y, we have the mainline games' first transition to 3D, along with many other exciting changes. In Origin, we have an incredibly nostalgia rich adaptation of the original games. They're independently great choices for the franchise as a whole, but excitement for one also reinforces excitement for the other.

Boss Doggie

all my loli wolf companions are so moe

You didn't get the joke :p

his new outfit has reached a all time low, they cant get rid of the jacket, that shit's iconic

Actually seems like fan reaction to new Ash is positive because he looks better than before (probably due to skinny pants).

Also that's not his BW jacket.

And people make a big deal about his OG cap when the episode itself doesn't really give much about it other than "him winning it for a Pokemon League".

It's still a very interesting announcement even if it's just a special. Judging by the classic story and characters it's easy to assume that the show aims for the nostalgia of classic Pokémon fans, which is quite a thing considering the anime always had pre-teens in mind. So, this could very well be an experiment to see whether or not it's viable to have a Pokémon show for an older audience. Who knows, maybe there'll be indeed a second series alongside Ash's journey if the special turns out to be a success.
