Lifeless Planet and Scale look really cool.

I hope Microsoft isn't done with all the executive switching yet, this Battle of the Bands stuff continuous to be amusing.

thats great, i've had my eye on lifeless planet for some time now, it looks really interesting.

Just caught up on the last few episodes. I'm so glad this guy got a permanent show on gametrailers. Always a joy to watch. Really liked Pax panel and the Indie episode.

Couple of great moments in this week's episode. I feel like this will come in handy for future episodes:

end video spoiler:
Battle of the Bands just got real. GET HYPE

gt player keeps freezing for me, like the dialup days

god damn it

I used to have video issues but then I switched from streaming to progressive and I hardly ever have any problems anymore. Could this help? I don't think it'll look as good as the HD streaming option, but it's watchable (i.e. not terrible).

I'll just download it.
I'm done trying to deal with the GT player.
Yeah I have this thing nailed down: Log into GT (or even GiantBomb cuz I dislike their player too), press Download video button, CTRL+J (go into Chrome downloads), Cancel download, rightclick Copy link address, Win+R (on keyboard) -> wmplayer <insert URL here> and finally Enter. This way I don't have to download the video entirely before I can watch it.

Has there been any discussion about GT bias due to all this band stuff? I know it's the latest fashion to shit on MS every chance you get, and they kinda deserve it for sure, but seeing gaming websites do it this openly, it makes GT kinda look like Sony fanboys which makes integrity a worry, right? It's looking more and more like it's not entirely all in good fun, you know? Especially with Shu patting their backs so blatantly too. Not that it isn't funny. I know that Kyle isn't doing reviews and he most likely won't be allowed to review Knack himself, but still. It's kinda weird, not to say unprecedented, right?

What has shown bias concerning the "Battle of the Bands" on either side?

I think that battle of the bands thing just calls it like it sees it :p

It's not as though sony is immune to criticism either, they've been getting it for the last 6 years.

I don't think you read the initial disclosure, Kyle doesn't know anything about videogames and his opinions are always wrong.

Almost always half-wrong.

No bias, just comedy. Its a comedy show, it isn't going to reflect in anything else. To think so would be silly.

I have no idea what point Kyle was trying to make at the end there, but I enjoyed it.

I interpreted it as a metaphor this week's announcements. The worldwide PS4 launch is 2 months away, and while we might expect Sony to be focused on this important launch, they feel so good right now that they instead distract everyone with these other shows/products i.e., the new Vita line and the PS Vita TV.

It's not a bunch of GT editors working on these episodes. He writes his own scripts. The comment at the beginning, "Kyle Bosman is a person who sits in a cubicle and has feelings about video games. He is an expert of nothing and his opinions are half wrong," was written and added into his videos himself. Think of Kyle's show like the warning at the beginning of your DVDs that say "these words do not represent the views and opinions of..."

What was pro Sony or anti MS about his band sketches?

He seems pro-knack to you? In the same way that Gaf is pro-Ryse?

They're making fun of Microsoft on a regular basis with Sony reps cheering them on. You can't really blame Sony for that, who wouldn't do that? But to me it brings up the question of whether or not GT is being impartial or not, simply by associating themselves with his views by allowing the videos on their site, disclosures or no.

Eh, they shit on Vita all the time.
Fair and true enough.

I think that battle of the bands thing just calls it like it sees it :p

See above, but I agree, it can be interpreted as that for sure.

I have, it didn't cross my mind as something serious at the time though.

Maybe I am overthinking it, I don't know. I think it worth mentioning at least. To me at least, it's slightly worrisome. Maybe simply because it's so openly featured on GT. It'd be different if this was a youtube thing, even if Kyle still worked at GT during regular business hours.

Again, fair enough :)

I know you're being facetious, but really? Isn't it pretty obvious that he's making fun of Microsoft for being idiots? :) I don't think it's so far fetched to say that that can make it anti-MS. I don't have a problem with his views or Kyle himself, I love these episodes and agree with mostly everything he brings up and the battle of the bands sketches are hilarious. I don't know about pro-Knack but he isn't shitting on it like he does with MS at least. I don't know, I think they might be on thin ice with journalistic integrity and staying impartial with this stuff, the longer it goes on. But on the other hand, this is GT we're talking about I guess. Doritos and everything.

I honestly think you're seeing what you want to see. All I'm getting from the battle of the bands is making fun of the fact that Microsoft have replaced high position people in the Xbox team often since the system's reveal and not that they're incompetent.

You haven't even given any specific examples as to what you're talking about.

What Kyle does is satire pure and simple.

The Battle of the Bands sketch was used to back up a point in the main segment that Mattrick jumping ship before the X1 has even launched, was akin to a lead singer dumping his band-mates before a huge gig. It would of been left at that if not for all the shenanigans since with the top brass at MS over the next couple of months.

It's not only MS that Kyle has poked fun at. There was that analogy of Nintendo as a big dopey elephant, that keeps plodding along doing stuff at it's own pace and in it's own way.

The reason Sony has been relatively spared is that they have given the appearance that they've got their shit together. It's just giving much less ammunition to use against them.

Accusing Kyle of bias with the battle of the bands segments is stupid. It started as a simple yet awesome analogy for Don Matrick's departure. The only reason it continued was because Microsoft kept shuffling people around. It had nothing to do with making fun of Microsoft for the sake of making fun of Microsoft.

Now since people seem to like it a lot, it seems like he's expanding the joke to include Sony, which is further defense against any bias accusations.

I'll put it this way. GT is split into two main groups, GT editorial and GTTV. Kyle works for GTTV, so he doesn't even dabble with the ediorial. Plus, its a popular show, and when GT is third in the rankings, you need these kind of shows and personalities to get ahead.

Don't think to much on it. Its a good gig for a guy who thought his job was in jeopardy a year ago. Now he's sailing. Be happy for him.

it is weird that you think of anti-ms bias for kyle at least. He must be the most anti anti-anything. All his videos are extremely positive based. Even when he criticizes something its still done in positive and feel good vibes(like the nintedo elephant for example which was extremely funny and on point).

I think its basically just you dude sorry.

Haha :) A lot of responses, that's good. A discussion was all I wanted and the fact that I'm alone is a good thing imho.

Yup. Even when the Xbox One was revealed, I'm pretty sure that despite its apparent problems Kyle was one of the most adamant that it was still a decent product and didn't just jump on the hate wagon. What I love about this show is that Kyle keeps his head level amongst all the news and constantly keeps himself in check for most bias. Of course, there probably is a lot of Sony love considering Yosp's and Kyle's bromance, but I'm fully certain that Kyle won't be afraid to call Sony out on their shit. What's special is that it seems like Sony's actually listening.
