I've been anticipating DC for a long time, but the game is done when it's done.

This is a good reading of the situation. Understandably, there are people around here who have championed the game because lots of people like racing games, but these people are still only a fraction of GAF's and gaming-in-general's audience. I get why those people would be upset, but this does not suddenly collapse the PS4's launch. The game will be better for it in the end. It's definitely a knock right now given the total number of first party Sony titles, but it's hardly something crushing.

Hell, selfish though it may sound, as someone who doesn't like or play racing games, if this leads to getting Knack free or something else good, I'll see it as a net benefit.

I personally am disappointed it's delayed but if it has to be then it has to be. It's better that it's a great game rather than a rushed one. I have other games on PS4 to keep me tied over until Infamous comes out in Feb and then when Driveclub comes out hopefully it will live up to it's potential. I wonder what the free PS+ replacement will be if any?

Yeah. It's a double edged sword. When news people want out comes around I'm told it, negative stuff I'm not told as much anymore (though i did hear this... now by multiple people btw). But, at the same time, the more shit I get right the more other people who know stuff start talking to me. So it's like a rich gets richer kinda thing which is somewhat unfair but hey I'll take it.


But, like, when I went through that horrible shit earlier this year and was down in the dumps it gets weird trying to figure out who actually likes you as a human and who just wants info about stuff.


It's weird. When i started "leaking" things it was in the very close-knit vita thread and I never really saw it turning into this. #ps4nodrm was probably one of the cooler non-family/children things I'll do in my life.

It's also nervewracking because not only do I not want to be wrong in front of so many people... but I also don't want to be banned. So each time I say something that ends up high profile like this im on edge until it's official.

It is posters like you with your genuine sincerity that makes me enjoy this community so much. Thanks for this

Logic would say that you buy a console at launch to play launch games. If you're not interested in those, you still have a 6-7 years window to buy the console (with the benefit of taking less risks on first hardware batch, and a possible lower price on games and hardware).
I'm buying a console at launch, but I intend to enjoy the games and features available day1, otherwise I would have waited.

Let's say I have to choose between the XB1 and the PS4. When I'm making a decision about which console I'm going to buy and be with for the next 7 years, launch titles are not going to sway me either way

I agree with you that a lot of people did not really care about this game that much.... a majority of which had interest in it since they would be getting a limited modified version of the game for free with PS+ (Including myself)

I guys some of those people became upset that they lost that extra free game :/

Pretty much.

If W101 was delayed, you'd have some people go "omg this is a huge disaster, Nintendo screwed, the WIi U has no chance anymore!" or if it was Ryse, or Killer Instinct or whatever. The reality is that W101 has made no effect on the Wii U, saleswise. There are plenty of passionate fans for it especially on GAF who really love it and good for them, but its not a important title in terms of sales, neither is Drive Club id argue.

I am not denying that its a negative that a game that has been advertised might be delayed, but the sheer schadenfreude is off the charts. I would think that the huge reaction to a mere rumor seemed more fitting for a truly huge title like Halo, Gran Turismo, Super Mario or something and not a unproven new racing game that may or may not be good.

still a rumor i guess, but these last minute delays are crazy. Watch Dogs delay honestly shocked me. I've never seen a high profile game like that get delayed so close to release. Drive Club doesn't surprise me as much but waiting this long to announce it is strange.

Why not both? I think launch titles should be appealing enough to further justify the cost of admission. Yet you should also buy a new console because you want to experience with full breadth of what it has to offer down the line as well. To those babbling about their "PS4 is gonna be collecting dust for the next few months Hyuk Hyuk Hyuk'" need to seriously reevaluate why the hell their even buying the console in the first place.

I would imagine they trying/hoping to distance this delay from the Watchdogs delay. 2 launch games down in 2 days is bad news no matter how you look at it. Hopefully Evolution can hunker down and get DC out in January at the latest, at least in the launch window.

Of course I'm buying a console at launch and I'm gonna enjoy next gen. What I mean to say is that I don't just look and say "oh this console has more AAA launch titles so I'm going with this". If I had intentions of buying both consoles eventually then yeah launch titles would be more important

I'm actually somewhat surprised they would delay this. I sorta figured that Sony would decide hitting that date was more important and that Evolution would just patch the game after. Drive Club must be in pretty bad shape.
