If true, this along with the Watch Dogs delay are really making me consider just waiting until mid 2014 to buy a ps4.


I can't justify spending 400+ on a new console with hardly anything to play on it. It'd probably just collect dust until infamous comes out.

Yeah but I mean, what's in the difference in waiting?

It's still going to cost 400+ in the Spring.

It would entertaining, but judging by similar rumors in the past, this one is developing itself in a way that will most likely end up with it being true.
Sony had the chance to confirm that the rumor was false. No comment is almost always confirmation.
I will be pleasantly surprised if it is false.

Infamous was never referred to as a launch title despite the fact that it was revealed in Feb along KZ, Knac and DC. The first time they spoke about launch titles, they mentioned the latter 3 but not Infamous. Later on they said that it was set for spring 2014.

Topics like this just fire up the tempers in here - GAF is pretty much like Roger Sterling sees a marriage, you know: sometimes you get into it for the wrong reasons, and eventually, they hit you in the face...

I think its more about them intending DriveClub to become a big franchice kind of like Gran Turismo so they can alternate between GT and DC. For that they would need a strong launch with good reviews, so thus the delay.

I don't get why people are considering waiting until February to buy a PS4. Do you think you'll be saving yourself money or something? How are you benefiting by waiting?

Unless you're short on cash and would rather use Christmas money or something, it's a pretty illogical decision.

Consoles are investments, not impulse buys. No one should buy a console for the launch games, they should be buying it because of it's potential over the next decade.

lol, an apt metaphor.

I think the kind of people who hang out in threads like these are often much different than the posters you see in OTs and more game specific threads, and there is also much more diversity in threads like these due to the shear number of posters. Trying to pigeonhole GAF based on these threads is nearly impossible

I don't have presents to buy for my whole family in February.
I'm getting it at launch, but it's a valid point.

Well you get to find out whether there are any obvious hardware or service issues on the consoles themselves, comparisons of multiplatform performance and reviews on the first wave of titles.

Its a smart move overall, but many of us here are impatient tech enthusiasts ;P

I hope knack is as hard as people say it is on its most difficult setting, depending on reviews before launch that may be my watchdogs etc replacement,

The Kotaku story says "scheduling conflict". I don't believe that means the game is delayed, but maybe that they are in the final touches before the game goes gold. It might be another Motorstorm situation, though. With only a month left, we'll find out far sooner than later.

There's next to nothing in the ps4 lineup I'm interested in. Kilzone their biggest title doesn't appeal to me. February atleast infamous comes out and hopefully The Witness.

WiiU's launch wasn't terrible....it was just bad because most people that got one already had Mass Effect 3, Dark Siders 2, CoD, Assassins Creed 3, Arkham City, Madden, Nba2K, Ninja Gaiden, and Warriors Orochi on platforms they already owned.

I mean WiiU had huge AAA 3rd Party Support(at Launch at least lol). I mean batman isn't even coming out on PS4 and X1 this year

A year later maybe, but any hardware/service issues that are noticeable in February will be covered under a warranty anyway.

I agree on the second point about games though. The one thing I'm leery about.

Unfortunately my PC broke recently(i'm actually typing this from the 360 browser right now, which is sad.) so i'm currently thinking about just building a gamer friendly pc which will set me back a bit.

I know that ultimately the ps4 is the right console for me(Sony first party, strong japan support, etc) so i may end up just buying it at launch anyway but these announcements are making it more difficult to justify.

Oh wow shit this is depressing. It is my most anticipated PS4 game and to not have it at launch would be a kick in the balls : (

Was really only looking forward to this because of the free PS plus version, but still bad news if true. I'll believe it when it is officially announced.

The PS+ version is a stripped down version of the full game. Has anyone considered that the PS+ version could still release? Perhaps it's getting the content finished that's caused the delay?

Big problem for Sony PR now, but they could fix that by offering a real full game (Knack?) as a PS+ freebie, along with DriveClub PS+ Edition when it comes out.
