New Killzone: Shadow Fall story trailer [new footage]

This screengrab is so compressed that You can see artifacts on every geometry line.

For me the most jarring in this footage is shadow rendering, not rain. Rain can be fixes easily [increase particles speed and apply blur filter], but they wont rewrite shadow renderer.

I can still clearly see how clean and crisp the game looks. And it looks phenomenal.

I wish we could fly some of those aircraft, like just a small section, the city is so beautiful I can fly on it all day.

Those aircraft in the third gif are unmanned large robots called ATACs. They were pretty boss in KZ2 & 3, so I'd be happy if they were back with a vengeance.

I think that capture was from the 360 version & it ran at 30fps & 720p.

If the 360 was able to port Crysis 2 & run it decently compared to a PC rig that was many many times more powerful & only suffer some IQ problems, just shows that the GPU isn't the deciding factor in making a game look good.

Right well I've played Crysis 2 on the 360. 1080p is vastly superior to 720p and the textures in KZ SF significantly better than anything in the 360 version of Crysis 2 and that's before we even get on to depth of field, AA, and a number of other effects. You can't use a tiny gif to support what is rapidly becoming a tenous argument which now seems to be that Crysis 2 on the 360 is a visual match, or only a notch under Shadowfall. Instead of getting closer through discussion we're just getting further apart so let's leave it at that.

This is either weird lightning

or... she is poisoned by some toxic agent. We saw some weird corpses in the trailer. She even looks like she lost some weight in that shot where she is pale.

Every time I see that city in screenshots it hurts me even more that we won't get to explore it. It physically hurts me.

The game would have had to been delayed till 2016 for that to be possible. Hopefully GG's rumoured cyberpunk RPG has a city like that to explore.

Pretty sure there's a light shining on her face.

The girl, though. It's not hardly on this level:

They've chosen an animorphic lens for their first-person view "camera." (That's why all the little lights you see, like the lights on the aircraft and the helhan's "eyes" have a lens flair in horizontal lines.)

This horizontal lens distortion is entirely correct for this style camera lens, and that's what you see here. The model appears to be identical to me. The lighting is also just incidental to the scene, and is basically like holding a flashlight under someone's face which is far from attractive.

No, It's not an especially attractive look for a close-up on a beautiful female model, but this is a first-person game here, not a fashion shoot.

Personally, I like the more cinematic approach of TLoU that allows for multiple camera angles, and multiple lens choices, so each "shot" can look as good as possible. But as Guerilla said before, these videos came out, they wanted you to experience as much of the game as possible in the first-person, so because of that choice, they aren't going to be able to do that.

I have a major problem with this story setup. How in the hell could the ISA allow the Helgans to run free on that side of the wall. Give the survivors sanctuary sure but free reign to build up an entire counter civilization!? Also why are there so man of them anyway?

Didn't watch the whole trailer as I don't want to get the spoilers but man those gifs! HOLY !!

The only bad part is the rain but the worst part about the rain is not how it looks (because it is not that bad) but that the rain is doing nothing to the environments (look at the floor) or to the clothes...they all seem to be dry

I'm not doubting it anymore after getting a good look at the screen grabs on the previous page. I imagine it will be pretty damn close. Seriously, just imagine it on your screen. This game is going to pop like all hell just broke loose.

I guess we'll know in less than a month

To me it's how the rain looks itself.
Waaaaaaaaaaay too white and drawing a lot of attention because of it. Maybe even to.... Slow?

And to think, this is a first-generation title. Games are going to look mind-blowing a couple of years from now.

Exactly.

Remember PS3's launch FPS?

Don't get me wrong- I loved Resistance and there were certain elements (like the snow and window damage details) that just blew me away and made me feel like it was 'next gen', but holy shit did things get so much more impressive in the following years.

Admittedly GG has a bit more technical prowess than Insomniac (no offense to you and your pals, jstevenson), but it still makes me very excited for what we'll be seeing even in a year or so (not to mention the end of the gen).

"The slaughter of a billion Helghast lives."

You don't slaughter lives. You end lives. You slaughter people/animals/whatever.

Hire a literate native English speaker to edit your epic speeches, folks.

Maybe that's the point...you know hmm, likening the extinguishing of a billion Helghast lives to the slaughtering of animals...Helghast = animals to the ISA/Vektans and vice versa. It's done to arouse emotion (sympathy and anger) in those that are being coerced by Visari's speeches. I don't think they need any literary help, they seem to be doing just fine.

Please tell me this game was 60fps. It kinda looks like a wii game.

Dat thumb, lol.

Man, it really is a trip seeing how far we have come this gen. Now, sitting here drooling at Shadow Fall and then thinking about what we will be seeing a few years down the line is just...

Once again I'm being "corrected" by someone who has completely missed the point of my objection. I know this is supposed to be an emotionally arousing speech. I didn't miss that. At all.

Maybe you didn't read carefully, but I said you can "slaughter people." I wasn't saying "you can't say 'slaughter' unless it's about animals!"

The choice of the word "slaughter" is not the problem. It's used to describe the killing of human beings all the time. The problem is that you do not "slaughter lives." The transitive verb "to slaughter" does not take the word "lives" as an object. English speakers do not say this. They could have instead said "Slaughter of a billion Helghast." That is how the word slaughter works grammatically.

Insane For Sony
Looks good overall, great in spots. Man, the facial animation looks like a procedurally generated solution ala Face Fx or some thing similar. For a launch title, incredibly impressive though. Can't wait to dig in.
If it is that, it would go hand in hand with my theory that characters' heads follow you around while they're talking. In that case they'd need this kind of solution instead of mocap or manual animation.
