That's not far from the truth. The last thing I need is for someone to look at my posting history and accuse me of Gafstroturfing.
<---- Is that a thing yet?
Especially when I really just want to see some positivity for the thing.

Yeah! See? This!

What's looking like the go to Xbox exclusive for most people? I keep waiting for someone to go crazy for Power Golf.

I'm most interested in Kinect 2, the UI and Killer Instinct. Killer Instinct is the title that is driving my purchase, but I am also interested in several of the other Xbox One titles such as Forza, DR3, Ryse, Crimson Dragon and Powerstar Golf. Also, I can't wait to check out the fitness program. That looks fantastic.

I'm mostly fishing for people that are excited for the Kinect and other non-game applications. MS wants this thing in your living room. And I know that for me, it wouldn't work. My systems don't go in a living room, they go in my room. The room where all the technology and medium sized TV is. MS wants this box to be more than just videogames, and I wonder how many people are going to use it for more than that.

I actually use the current Kinect voice integration to navigate around Netflix/Hulu/Xfinity while cleaning or cooking or doing the dishes (I have a really open floorplan that allows a view of the TV from most of my place.) I think Kinect 2.0 should finally be integrated enough that I can do this without having to grab the remote and a controller from the living room to get everything set up, which will be nice. I'm also hoping (probably futilely) that they've fixed it so Kinect can fully seperate commands out from TV audio, because there's currently not really a good way to pause a program without grabbing a controller. The Kinect fitness thing also looks interesting.

It's not system-selling interest for me, but it is something I'm genuinely glad to be getting as part of the package. The 360 had a decent enough video app arrangement to become my go-to media box, and I'm hoping the One continues that.

I have a question, can you purchase an extended warranty from Microsoft, or just the retailer you buy from? If so how much is it and for how long?

These bricked PS4's have got me worried, even if mine is fine for a year knowing my luck it'd break on the 13th month ...

Well, here in Mexico the law specify a minimun of 1 year for most products.

The new Kinect will in fact cancel out sound coming from your speakers.

I was initially turned off by the size of the console, but I am starting to appreciate that it appears to be built like a damn tank. Hopefully that will bode well for the overall build quality.

Yeah, same here. I'm worried beyond that though. My Xbox slim lasted just under 3 years.

Heh, in a way one good thing came from RROD, and that is MS being hyper sensitive to quality control.

Well, I hope so anyway!

Seeing how they've been using them at events, very much out in the open, and traveling the US with them in trucks the past month make me very confident in its build quality.

I hate to say it but it seems there was in fact a reason Sony kept PS4s in cases up to launch, even at press events.

So, people are finally calming down from all that shit that happened this year and are starting to realize that this isn't as bad as it was made out to be?

I hope so because in the end, all I want to do is play fucking video games!1!1

You reckon? Well I hope so (On the MS bit). I certainly didn't see this coming for PS4 though. It's not as if they have a perfect track record tho, PS2 was pretty faulty wasn't it?

Aside from raw power, Xbox One is an amazing device that goes head to head with PS4 (and surpasses it in some areas) easily.

Never got why PS4 was seen as such an incredible system vs Xbox One after all the reversals.

Did anyone here who preordered from Microsoftstore get charged yet?

Several have today!

After hearing annoyed gamer say they never were able to see a PS4 retail kit running games(I believe he said it would be easier to get a unicorn than a PS4) and seeing even at the press media event Sony kept the consoles in acrylic cases which is just nuts for a press event.

The event in New York is the first time I've heard of them using real PS4s out in the open to demo games.

You got it. I have done a 180 of my own on this system. It's going to be the first one I buy here in a few months. In the end, I realized that it has more exclusives I want, a by far more attractive, slicker UI and just more features in general that I know I'll use.

So I'm giving my friend my amazon pre order. When will they charge my card so I know when he should give me the money?

They'll authorize the card when they go to box up the order, putting a hold on the amount of the purchase, so you need to have the money available at that time. This'll probably be somewhere between Tuesday and Thursday night, based on when they did the PS4s. They'll then charge after the item's shipped. For the PS4, the money got held on my card Wednesday night, the console shipped Thursday afternoon, and the charge completed on my Discover Friday night. If you want him to pay you before the hold gets placed, plan to get money the first couple of days of the week. If you don't want him to pay until you've actually been fully charged, it'll be the day of or the day before launch, probably.

There's plenty to be excited for and some mild caution as well.

Firstly, it's got some cool launch titles and some cool games coming up. As long as there are exclusives and such, I'm interested in it. Xbox took their eye off the ball the last few years of the 360's life - I'm hoping they've learned their lesson, because in terms of a launch it's a pretty good one. This is where the mild caution comes from; MS need to keep supporting games and not chase the casual market too much. Casuals by definition are casual; they don't stay interested very long and they're easily distracted.

I know plenty of people on GAF say "It's a console, why does it do xyz?" To them I say phooey! Actually I don't, I just don't respond. To me it's the overall package. Both my 360, PS3 and PC do tonnes of stuff not game related and I love them for it. Would someone knock a gaming PC owner for running Excel or Photoshop on it? It's a stupid argument in my opinion. Just Xbox fitness alone for the first year would be almost worth the price of admission.

Kinect voice search is great, especially when searching for media. I wouldn't use voice search on a PC, but when the alternative is an on-screen character selection with a controller, then Kinect voice is great. Again, people knock it, but MS have had great search since Windows 7 and the XB1 interface won't be any different.

Speaking of Kinect, whilst it isn't a replacement for a controller by a long shot, there are some things it brings to the table that can enhance controller gameplay. The way it tracks a controller to a specific player, rather than the players having to make sure they have the right controller, it a great feature. Also, I can't wait for the next Dance Central - the wider angle lens will mean I get to play it in my loungeroom.

I'm keen also to play with the impulse triggers. They sound amazing.

I could probably go on, but you get the idea. There's plenty to be excited for about the XB1. I'm not knocking the PS4, I have one preordered because of all the things it has going for it, but apart from gaming specs, I feel the XB1 is pushing what consoles can do further than the PS4 or Wii U.

I'm not saying it's perfect either - such as lack of legacy wheel support, putting services behind a paywall, etc, are negatives. But in the end you weigh them up and make a decision on whether the positives outweigh the negatives in terms of a value proposition.

Oh god Microsoft have all of my money.

As an achievement whore I just blew my load. Please tell me you get a reward for perfecting a game (100%ing it) like a platinum trophy. Please major nelson

Apologies if this has been answered previously.

If I purchase disc based game, can i then switch it to digital? I ask this cos I'm hoping I can purchase the disc for Install and save bandwidth/download quota, then have the benefits of digital gaming.

Unfortunately like others have said you would also need to buy the digital version as well..on the flipside however, if you say..rent the game from redbox (whenever that becomes available) or borrow it from a friend you could download it from them, then, purchase it online as a work around!

Not sure how fesible this is but could MS sell (probably directly from them) discs that can only be installed and not played (thus sold or lent) so it's essentially 'digital' (I.E can throw away the disc after as it has no use). That would solve your problem von zipp.

N64 -> PS2 -> Xbox -> Xbox 360 -> ?

2 months ago I was so sure that I was going PS4 only that I completely ignored the Xbox One. But after the PS4 launch and seeing how awesome the Xbox One is looking in terms of UI and games (I have wanted a new Killer Instinct for years), I'm so confused on what to buy. :(

Keep it up Microsoft!

Updated a few typos and such. Friend List is half full already, eventually I will need to manage it from the Console.
