Without, as in an 'out-of-the-box' HDTV.
I held my finger on the power button for a while and it eventually shut off. Froze while Warframe was updating so I deleted the game. Will try another time.

Why the hell do we even have HDCP (besides media companies forcing crap). Seriously, what is the point so you can't record a signal? That is just stupid.
Safe mode would still work. You know that doesn't use HDCP, right? That's why it's "safe mode". Same as a Windows PC, it turns off all the shit that can potentially cause issues. Did no one ever wonder why Safe Mode on PS4 looks so fuzzy? Here's a hint: it's not 1080p.
Bottom line, this is not a HDCP issue. It's happening across multiple TVs, including some very new, very high-end products that sure as fuck have HDCP functionality.
It may not be, but I had an issue with my 360 because of HDCP, it was the tv. Every tv doesn't have this safe mode.
Unplug everything for a bit and then back in.

PS4 does. Why do you think it's one of the first troubleshooting steps?
We're starting to get reports of it here in this thread... you're the third, I think, at least in the last couple of pages.

Not a hardware issue but I wish there was a boot up sound for when the playstation logo pops up. It's silent.

Oh man am I nervous now, even if I get a working unit, knowing myself ill be sweating bullets every time something stops to load or if the disk drive makes a sound.

Twice I have had to reset the console because it stopped outputting sound. I'm hooked up via optical cable just like my PS3 and 360. Once it was when I started Warframe for the first time... no audio, not even when backing out to the PS4 home menu. Second time was just now after finishing a game of Flower, then booted up Resogun. Dead silent. So weird.

Any electronic can face issues. Of course they had quality control, don't be silly.
They are probably trying to figure out solutions to these issues before saying anything definitive.

The voice recognition with the camera just stopped working and I can't figure out why. Argh. So frustrating.
edit: It works with the headset so the camera appears to be borked. I'll return it tomorrow to Best Buy.

They're trying to glean the facts just like we are.
They shouldn't say anything until they can:
A) Definitely confirm there is a massive problem(s)
B) Find solution(s)
my system is on its way to KSA right now. i am really praying its a working system.
does anyone know how many days i have before i can return the shipment to amazon ?
it takes around 15 days for the shipment to arrive from US to KSA and back to US " if the shipment is defective"
what is amazon return policy on this ? does anyone know how many days ?

Another day of marathon gaming without issues besides one software lock on NBA 2k.
Wasnt HDCP a PS3 launch issue? I would think most TVs these days support it.
FWIW, A friend of mine had a PS4 with video output issues and he thought it was HDCP until he switched it out and his new unit worked fine.

while playing resogun on my ps4, the game freezes up and becomes unplayable for a few seconds, then snaps out of it. Should I be worried that something is wrong with my ps4? It plays call of duty nice and smooth.

I think I fixed my problem. All I did was unplugged it and took a shower then I plugged it back in and it started working like the day I took it out of the box.
Playing Knack now. After the PS4 started working I google my problem and saw it happened to a few others and saw they basically did the something I did.
Disable your network connection and try them.
Yeah seems like myriad of issues about now. Not looking good for PS4 launch.
Hmm well I have played Resogun a lot and have experienced no slowdown. Bad install maybe?

glad you are following my case and feeling my pain lol. yeah i have to admit i am very worried about this. specially that it will probably cost me like 8o to 100$ to return the thing if its broken. sigh.
Played for well over 24 hours no problems.
Ejected my killzone disk so I could try a bluray for the first time, when I hit eject the disk came out but the drive continued to whir for 10 seconds.
Now it won't accept any disks at all, it won't suck them in.
I see pages of people on the official forums with the same issue.
Reinitialized the entire system but no luck. Also has the effect of blanking out my downloaded PSN games, and Store crashes when you try and redownload. Great. So I can't even enjoy those.
Tried standing it on its side, nothing. Had it turned off a while and unplugged. Nothing. Running latest update.
Slowly getting annoyed about it, the HDMI issues will be in the spotlight but I have a suspicion some drive issues are going to start showing up. if I could play some of my games I'd be happy but I can't for example click Flower. I Go to Library and click it and I see the Download button and details page for half a moment then back to menu.
Not seeing anyone outside of official forums having disk drive issues yet.

I don't even know if it is possible. I'm just saying that I'm not having that problem with my PS4 and that game so that's the next step I personally would take if it was my PS4 doing that just to see if the problem goes away.
my drive works, it just sounds like hot death when I put anything in or take anything out, I'll try to get a video up.

The issue you are having with Flower is what I'm having with Sound Shapes. I just bought it and it won't download or anything. Just that quick details screen then back to the dash. Seems like a PSN bug, I'm not worried and will fix it tomorrow.
Your other issue well, optical drives suck. Almost as much has hard drives and printers. Maybe safe mode can help you out with the ODD.

I'm considering calling Amazon tomorrow to start the process of returning my system. It just runs so God damn loud sometimes. And what's weird is I can also go for hours and it's whisper quiet. You can still hear it, but it's nothing I would have ever worried about. And other times it's loud, even if there's no disc in the drive. I don't know if it's the fan or the drive, all I know is it's seriously bumming me out.

Does the plant and date matter? Which are the bad ones? Mine was from the yantai plant made in Aug. Running great so far
Amazon has a special return policy during the holidays so you actually have until January 31st to return it.
