Freedom Wars is developed by Shift (God Eater), and Dimps

Dev'd by Shift?
Oh hell yes.
I just got God Eater 2 and that game is electric sex.
I'm all for more fever-pitch hunting action.

Good good, sounds like God Eater people should do good for that game, and i hope that Japan Studio is busy developing that PS4 JRPG.

Also please release Freedom Wars in the West, thanks.

weird. this remind me when Rain announced as a game developed by SCE Japan Studio but it turn out it's made by Camp and Acquire.

not sure what Allen Becker is doing with SCE Japan Studio but the studio is even more useless than before now.

SCEJ does this often. The first time I noticed it happen was with Tokyo Jungle.

Ah, the title formerly known as Panopticons? I was trying to the name of this game the other day. Going to keep a closer watch on it now.

Becker has realised there is nothing of worth at Japan Studio and is rightly outsourcing the game production until he can fix it.

Toyama is the only thing that going on for the studio right now and if he leave them like Ueda then Sony should just shut down that studio.

This explains Ueda's comment on majority of the studio being focused on Puppeteer and Knack at the moment... Freedom Wars was always a Ext.Production project, and not fully an internal project.

Nah, Ext.Prod is pretty decent. The collaboration projects are decent, and even the CAMP indie-games are somewhat refreshing.

If anything, they should just strenghten the Ext.Production team at Japan Studio. Let them have more money to do 3rd-party collaborations, so that different 3rd-party devs can work together to create a high quality title that is less possible with the typical Japanese smaller developers.

Hmm, I recall a rumor about Sony and Capcom working together on a Vita hunting game. This was post Soul Sacrifice, so I believe most of us just shrugged it off because it sounded pretty unlikely. Dimps was founded by former Capcom employees. Of course Soul Sacrifice's concept stems from Keiji Inafune, a former Capcom employee himself. Was that rumor a case of a broken telephone?

Gameplay is coming this week as well right?

When is the footage being released?

I believe new gameplay footage is set to be unveiled this week. I suppose Sony wanted God Eater 2 to launch first.

I don't know if I would had believed a rumour of Capcom, of all publishers, working to make a distraction to Monster Hunter.

Probably broken telephone in pieces.

No wonder it looks so much like God Eater. At least this one is likely to have online multi if nothing else.

Also, lol I can't believe I never cottoned on that SFIV was dev'd by the Dragonball Z game guys. Crazy.

Well, they've literally just finished Puppeteer and Knack, both of which were internally developed. One would assume they also have a production side a la SSM/XDEV, which is how the likes of Tokyo Jungle, Soul Survivor and Rain came about, and we've got it on good information that they have a large JRPG in development. Let's give Becker a few more years at the studio before writing off his work there. He's trying to make them as established as SSM, and most of the games they're associated with are third party games on a management level.

My hype for this game just increased dramatically. This is some good talent to have behind the project

Look forward to the new footage.

No one wants a throne you've been sitting on!
As long as the map design is good Im happy, since in GE the maps are all pretty horrible.

Combat at least should be decent if its the GE team, for more fast paced action type.

This artstyle is much more to my liking as compared with Soul Sacrifice.
Hopefully it gets localised. I have more faith it will be seeing as it's SCEJ (even though not inhouse) and not Capcom/S-E.

Not surprised this is not internally developed. I doubt SCEJ themselves would develop any game aimed for the local market. From what it seems, it looks like SCEJ's in house development team is run by Westerners trying to make games as un-Japanese as possible which IMO is a stupid move.

I guess at this point, we can depend on their third party collaborations more.

Those new screens look fresh. And I've never played God Eater before, but I've only heard good things about it, so this is definitely good news.

Isn't Japan Studio one of SCE's larger development houses workdwide? What are they doing exactly?

Hate to say it, but their direction isn't doing themselves any favors since their games (other than GT and third party collaborations) do not appeal to any demographic. Puppeter was excellent and Knack looks relatively interesting, but these games are appealing as dirt to the Japanese market. If this is what we're gonna expect from them for the upcoming generation then they're not going to last long.

Then again, if SCEJ was just Polyphony and third party collaborations, it may not be a bad idea......

I suppose Toyama has a lot of prove with Gravity Rush 2 as well....

The big problem was the management, not a focus in western market.

isn't basically the same thing with SSM, a shit ton of game are under SSM label, but they're developed by other studio like Journey, Twisted Metal, Warhawk etc

so far, Knack, Puppeteer, and Gravity Daze are in house right?

It did have a similar look... Also explains on how Japan Studio could juggle Knack, Puppeteer, Gravity Rush 2 and this respectively

Didn't Sony confirm this?...

eh, Puppeteer is as un-japanese as Mario visual wise. at least Kutaro sounds like japanese name, Mario is an Italian. :p

Gravity Daze has very japanese anime look. only Knack seems to have a very western cartoon look.

remain to see if the whole studio will look more western title overall or not. I mean, how does The Last Guardian look to you?
