Okay. I'm really enjoying Gundam Build Fighters right now despite not really having seen many Gundam shows so I wondered how SRW compared. GBF is having a similar effect in that I'm not really that interested in buying Gunpla's but I kind of want to take a look at some of the anime series like 0800 more now.

I probably should have asked in my last post but do you think there would be many problems getting into the series if I were to end up buying Z3 first?

Wellll.... do you plan on understanding the story? Lots of people don't really care about the story and just play the game for the systems and watching super robots beat each other up. I'm going to say it doesn't matter but its obviously alot more fun to go through the story and intended order and to watch the units and series build up to each other.

I played SRW for 10+ years not knowing the story of the games. Its still lotsa fun.

On #1: If that that's the case then that automatically debunks the theory that Ougi might be the black sphere thing trying to erase Shinobu because why would something that hates fake claim (to Sengoku she met on her way to school) that she's Oshino's relative?

Because she might be ? There is no doubt in my mind that she is related to Oshino. The question is ..what is her relation with oshino. It' obvious that she know way more than she should . If she isn't blood related , maybe ougi was adopted ?

Kanbaru is an alright character but it's perfectly normal that people don't like her given the treatment she got.
Screen time shouldn't be a motivating factor for the quality or reception of a character. If anything Kanbaru is still in the clear because she wasn't involved in the wrecks that are Nise, Neko, and Monogatari S2.

I actually liked the audition scene other than the fact that they were still using Mizuki's singing of the song instead of singing it themselves.

After Ichigo climbed those bluffs to get to that designer mansion, she would have been full justified in sucker punching the woman if she didn't give those special cards to her. Weird though, the company has been around since the 1830s? Gotdamn. And those designers having those extravagant buildings for their offices. Just how big is idol culture in Japan in this show?

Little pet peeve of mine; they should hurry it up when putting their cards into those machine things. I know they want the cards to be on full display since the purpose of the show is to sell those cards, but I ain't buying them, so I don't care. Speed it up girls, it isn't an airport check-in kiosk.

Also Johnny-sensei is still best.

Huh? What did I say? Did I screw up again? :(

That's how you do it.... get that poison out.

Lol , calling monogatari S2 a wreck ?

i guess i'm gonna stop this discussion right here.

Some interesting pictures at the link there. Thanks for sharing.

You mentioned in the Comiket Doujin game thread that your birthday was during Comiket so Happy Birthday ponpo! ( ≖‿≖)

I don't really understand what's been going on with Fafner Exodus. I don't watch the series but I've been following some of the announcements on and off and it always struck me that something weird was going on in the production of the series.

I just went back and checked, and here's what I could find.

Back in Sept 2012, Fafner Exodus was first known when a theater listing for one of their live programs at the time mentioned it was going to be a 2013 project: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2012-09-10/theater/fafner-exodus-set-for-next-year

Then in Dec 2012, Tow Ubukata confirms he's writing for two projects in 2013 - a movie (the Arise film OVAs as its later revealde) and a TV series (has to be Exodus since there was nothing else): http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/new...ardock-scramble-ubukata-pens-2-anime-for-2013

In Jan 2013, they officially announce Fafner Exodus with the staff listing: http://www.xebec-inc.co.jp/xebeczwei/sf_kairan201301.html

In March 2013, they confirm it is planned as a 26 episode TV series: http://www.xebec-inc.co.jp/xebeczwei/sf_kairan20130322.html

In July 2013, they announce more staff and details: http://www.xebec-inc.co.jp/xebeczwei/sf_kairan20130704.html

Now in Dec 2013, they finally release a trailer and announce that production will complete only in Fall 2014, and many more story and staff are announced. It is still a 26 episode TV series: http://www.xebec-inc.co.jp/xebeczwei/sf_kairan20131228.html

The trailer also states that there will be cast announcements in Spring 2014.

It strikes me as really odd because I've never really ever seen a TV series being announced in total drip feed like this before, and then getting a trailer almost a year before it's even released. Right now the shows getting announced are the ones which will air in Spring. It almost feels as if the show only started production in late 2012, and they were hoping to air it in 2013 but it got delayed, and then they decided to finish making the entire series before airing it, hence Fall 2014? I dunno. Weird! Does anyone know what's going on?

Yeah, it's weird. When I watched Fafner years ago I actually liked it. Like yourself I've been kind of trying to follow news of the show. I can't find it but I thought one of the first reports of the show was one of the seiyuu mentioning its existance in a twitter post and that was it. It seemed like a Last Guardian situation in "is this thing ever coming out?". Looking at your timeline there it doesn't seem as bad so maybe I just forgot or missed an announcement or two. Oh well, as long as it's hopefully good in the end I guess.

It's madp's one weakness.

"one" weakness? Haha.

madp is also a big fan of outfits like this. I seem to remember him having a similar reaction such as the following after that particular episode of Gargantia.

auuuuuuughhhhhhhhghhhhhhhhggggggghhhhhffff

I'm probably the only one, but I liked every single episode.

I liked every episode as well. Even the infamous episode 6.

I mean, I voted Yamato in the 2013 TV Show of the Year thread, and if we wanted anime to be taken seriously, then any anime show you watch should be able to go up against any other television show regardless of country of origin and format

I looked at the thread when I was watching Yamato 2199 and talking to you more about it and noticed that you were the only one who voted for it. I don't remember how much of the show had been released at that point but I felt bad for the show because it's so good. I felt I'd make up for it by voting for it this year and making others more aware of it. It's nice then that it's sort of sweeping the thread right now, haha. Now more of non-AnimeGaf can become aware of its greatness! :)

I guess only being somewhat familiar with the different series I'd only be partially familiar with the story anyway? I guess with it being Z3 it would also be like coming part way through since I haven't played the first two or are they more stand alone like a Final Fantasy or something? How story heavy are they anyway? Moreso being an RPG? I'm not sure I'd ultimately buy it anyway but if the gameplay is fun then maybe.

I've also loved the series overall including Nise. I always try not to judge a book by its cover(mostly) and so I overlooked what everyone else deems as creepy fanservice etc, and honestly I thought Nise delivered just as solid as bake and whatnot. It was with Nise that we got Kaiki after all. One of the best characters ever... Shinobu too!

i thought Garmilans were a lot closer to the Roman Empire, peace through conquest, citizenship the ultimate prize for the subjugated etc

Desler might think himself more of a Caeser than a Hitler, but it's painfully obvious that the military leadership and most of the people he surrounds himself with to lead and manage the empire are more Nazi than Roman.

Valvrave 24
That sort of tied up everything but they tried to do too many things with the plot and had to rush some sort of resolution together which obviously resulted in a poor ending. The final fight was nice and there was a bit of feels.

The Light of El Cantare
I liked Rozen Maiden's ending - it's an open end where the character's growth is enough to leave it momentum for wherever it may go. I was happy, despite my complaints about the weird convolution of the laplace story, to see him be set on that path again.

When I refer to the ending, I'm not referring to the open-ended nature of the finale but the events leading up to the resolution of the Kirakisho plot. Due to the ongoing nature of the source material, simply ending with a hopeful tone was fine as a resolution for Jun's narrative and I was never bothered by it.

There has never been a discussion. I doubt I have seen a single thoughtful post that successfully communicates the merit of Monogatari S2.

I experienced a lot of series first through SRW so it goes both ways. Every letter is a new series so Z3 (Z2 is a 2 part game) is actually the 4th installment of one long ongoing story.

They're super story heavy but they progress ala visual novels with just tons and tons of text but the recent games allow you to just skip all the story parts and get to the action. There are also some instances where you get bonus points for finishing a storyline similar to how the anime did it (like, say, hero blows up main villain's ship or something) and there are extra dialogue stuff but nothing earth shattering.

You should really give it a try. Play the Z2 games on the PSP or try some of the older stuff on PSN (I recommend F and F Final because of its awesome lineup).

After watching Yuasa magical girl opening video, I really wish he made a Kickstarter for that instead of Kick-Heart. Hopefully Madhouse has some spare money next year to make him direct another show.

Given it simply wouldn't have worked if the characters looked like something out of your average modern anime series? Absolutely.

I'll admit part of me is curious enough to wonder about what you meant by it working. Whatever it was surely didn't make itself apparent in the first two episodes which was all I could take.

It must have been amazing whatever it was but as curious as I am, its hard to image what's so amazing based on those two episodes that would make something so ugly blossom.

Toriko Episode 135 – Climactic Battle! IGO versus Gourmet Corp.!

The title makes the episode sound way more interesting than it was, just all the various rematches werent interesting or entertaining
but Brunch v elk seems to be a match to watch if he can figure out what the ability is
. Part of me wishes that Bogie was there, but Cedre is present so maybe things will go up from here.

Toriko Starjun is done fairly well, but the attacks lack any sort of impact. It just felt weak and not as exciting or intense as I expected. Something is lacking, imo.

I take it that I should watch this Yamato business, even though I've seen the original?

Haven't seen the last episode yet, but come to think of it I'm not sure we've seen the two talk to each other since
they fucked (probably)
in Nise 7. Terrible boyfriend.

They've been dating the entire time; We're just not shown that at all. She's been tutoring him for his entrance exams, meeting his family, dating him, etc, all while the narrative was off on other things. It's kind of a bummer, and I understand why people that were huge fans of Bake haven't warmed to Nise or S2.

I definitely wanted more Araragahara interaction, but I enjoyed most of the two cours. The recaps every couple of episodes were......fucking SHAFT.....

You really should watch the rest of it.

The World God Only Knows - S1 Finale Ep 12

Holy crap, what in the hell did I just watch?

Poor Elsie. This episode started cool, all the old systems. That's great they pretty much looked exactly like the real ones. They even outright said the name of the older ones. Excitebike was pretty cool too.

Although the episode just took a quick route to depressing.

Hopefully episode 1 of season 2 washes away the bad taste of this episode.

I don't have to,haha. It seems a few regulars here already know about your like for coloured eyelashes and you yourself gave away your love of midriff in the thread a few times before as well.

Not just that episode of Gargantia but you've made reference to liking Kasumi/Misty from the Pokémon anime's outfit for example. When Regulus was still posting I believe you both mentioned how you liked those kind of outfits as well.

Okay. I actually don't have a PS3 (yet) but I do have a PSP so maybe I'll take more of a look at them. Thanks for the information. :)

I also greatly enjoyed nise, there was more of the same monogatari then the actual fanservice in nise, they pay attention to about maybe 5 mins out of the 12 episodes of fanservice and not literally everything else that is just like bake, etc.

madp has a weakness for midriffs? I suppose that's one reason why he likes Aikatsu! so much.

Not surprising considering he weeps at me about missing midriffs in Precure (minus Cure Dream's).

Speaking of Aikatsu!

Creamhorn Urara Otome is too bubbly, and for a moment, they made you think that cock was inserted.
I KNEW IT! I KNEW THAT CLEANING GUY IS SUSPICIOUS!
Thankfully, it wasn't the case, but Creamhorn loves everyone. And specifically says in love with Ichigo, Aoi and Ran.

I know, which I should say is a very rare sight. Eureka Seven is the only other show I can make such a comparison. I don't love MJP, but I came to like it.

MJP was rally enjoyable, I guess it was a time where I was iching for a mecha show, and I loved how the showed looked, just beautiful and I also liked the characters

Miss Monochrome The Animation Episode 13 [end]
BcoGv4hCQAA7BzQ.png

Favorite line in Poker Face. Poker Face performance is better in the CG aspect than drawn but it was good to get a double dose in this conclusive episode. All in all a fairly decent short series for the season. It was no comedy filled series like Super Seisyun Brothers excelling in being both plot intriguing and pleasing on numerous fronts, but there was decent comedy at times here in Miss Monochrome. Manager Maneo and his apologies became the most memorable thing, while her voice actor and voice added something special to Miss Monochrome. 5/10.

Desler might think himself more of a Caeser than a Hitler, but it's painfully obvious that the military leadership and most of the people he surrounds himself with to lead and manage the empire are more Nazi than Roman.

Desler's actions in this episode in particular, abandoning and even trying to kill his subjects, show that he is more of a Hitler than a Caesar.

As a major fan of crossover stories, the SRW games are like a dream come true. The only story related thing I care about in SRW are the crossover interactions and nothing else though. I read on a wiki somewhere that Kamina and Kallen get into an arm-wrestling fight over who gets to name their mecha "Gurren". But alas, it's nothing but Japanese text as these games are never localized.

THIS IS THE KIND OF STUFF YOU ONLY FIND IN FANFICTION. Oh how I want to see that in English so badly...

Speaking of SRW, think there's any chance of seeing Gargantia or Valvrave showing up in a future SRW?

I take it that I should watch this Yamato business, even though I've seen the original?

As someone who watched a few episodes of the original until I couldn't stand the dullness any more, I can say Yamato 2199 is a rather different beast. If you actually liked the original, I imagine that would only add to your enjoyment of this updated take on its ideas.

Okay... it's definitely not the simple initial impression I originally had.

The Gamilan's national symbol is reminiscent of a swastika.

How do they determine the winner for these? What do those meters measure?

Also way to artificially inflate the number of participants so that Otome can be with them during the Christmas thing. I wonder if their classmates ever get pissed at the protagonists for always winning the really good jobs. Especially since Ichigo and Aoi are newbies.
