Do you think Sony will make any more Demon's Souls games?

Now that From Software is developing multiplatform games, do you think Sony will tackle a Demon's Souls 2 without From Software? Would you even want it?

I know I would. Dat next gen Demons Souls. And although relatively niche, I would guess the Souls fans are hardcore enough to buy a console for it.

I believe there was one Insider here in GAF that claimed Demon Souls II was in development. I don't remember who said that, though...

I still think the reason why Hidetaka Miyazaki isn't directing Dark Souls 2 is because he is busy directing Demon's Souls 2.

Why would they? They get Dark Souls games for free. It's not like they're gigantic money printers. Let FROM make Dark Souls and cash in on the license fee.

I thought FROM SOFTWARE was making Demon Souls 2 exclusively for Playstation. Dark Souls 2 is being done by another developer or team.

I really doubt it...I mean who would they get to develop it? I just don't see the point in releasing a Demon's Souls 2 without From Software.

They own the IP, so yes. From just changed the name (and not even that much, just Demon to Dark) to get out of that and make it multiplat.

Might not be a direct sequel to Demon's Souls, but DemonNite dropped some pretty strong hints that From Software was developing a Souls or Souls-ish PS4 exclusive.

After seeing how well the series has done and admitting that they missed out on a big opportunity by not publishing Demon's Souls overseas, I can see why Sony would want to make amends.

I remember there being a rumor of a Vita Souls game that I think turned out to be Soul Sacrifice, but I don't remember any talk of Sony continuing its Demons Souls brand after that rumor turned out wrong.

Is the PS4 rumor just coming from Miyazaki's alternate role on Dark Souls II?

I am excited as long as they keep the format. I'd like the more open Dark Soul's next to the more linear Demon Soul's. Would be a nice way to have two takes on a similar formula without making me burn out

All we know from the various insiders is that it's coming.

As long as Dark Souls games continue to come out on Sony systems, no I don't think they will make them themselves.

There will always be people who prefer one game over others in a series no matter what changes are made between the game. If anything, I think fans would likely be less happy with a NAMED sequel to Demons Souls made by a different developer than they were with a SPIRITUAL SUCCESSOR of Demons Souls made by the same developer (Dark Souls).

I keep seeing people say they want a Demon's Souls 2, but I have to keep wondering, could another developer make a sequel that even compares to the original, or what From Software has done with Dark Souls? Or do people think Sony would get From Software to make another Demon's Souls, which I don't find likely since they're making Dark Souls now...

I thought about it and I think Dark Souls pretty much put an end to DeS. Too many similarities and if they did decide to continue the IP it would put a strain on their relationship with From Software, something they would be wise not to do as they're one of the few 3rd party devs who have supported PlayStation very well.

I'm fine with no more DeS but I hope they use Maiden of Black as a special character in other games or exclusive content for Dark Souls 2. She's awesome :D

The PS4 rumor started as speculation about what Miyazaki could be working on since he's not directing Dark Souls II, but it was recently reinforced in a big way by DemonNite, a confirmed Sony insider.

I've played through both and I personally had more fun with Demon's (though Dark Souls was the richer experience) so I'd love there to be a sequel.

I'd be very interested in what direction FS would decide to go in order to differentiate itself from Dark Souls as a franchise. It's weird because I can't currently think of an IP that had one entry and then a spiritual successor by the same dev that could almost be seen as a reboot considering that they've gone an made a sequel of it now, and then go back and make a sequel for the original game.

Demon's Souls was developed by Sony and FROM Software. The IP is own by Sony so it isn't far fetch and shouldn't be dismissed.

Believe there are bigger things to doubt in this world like.... The last Guardian. :(

Basically. Not sure what a different company developing the game would even mean. Souls in name but not soul.

Edit: kinda been answered but still. I guess if Sony made it with From's effort.

Dark Souls and Demon's Souls could perfectely co-exist.

I will become very glad when a new Demon's Souls gets announced.

I was honestly quite shocked by how clear and specific his hints were. Maybe we're due for a reveal fairly soon? Trying to think of what event they'd be most likely to announce it at...

Mortimer has said several times that Sony is developing a spiritual successor to Demon's Souls, it's very much real. He is one insider I'd never doubt.

Damn... imagine, between E3 2014 and TGS 2014, Sony unleashing trailers/news on this hinted at Demon's Souls follow-up, The Last Guardian, and whatever Toyama (Silent Hill 1, SIREN, Gravity Rush) is working on.

Japan Studio coming back with a vengeance. ;)

You mean the pre e3 blow your wad sony show where they spoil everything/ everything leaks just weeks in advanced? e3 hasn't had any real megatons in like 6 years.
