Game Informer played through MGS Ground Zeroes' main mission in [1.5hrs, not rushing]

Well this game was always a rental for me and this news just cements that decision, but damn the balls on Konami for charging for what sounds like a demo. I felt dirty when I bought GT5 Prologue, but this is on a whole different level.

GT5 prologue was a solid 16-20 hours experience, this is on another level of greed. Kojima should be ashamed of himself for agreeing to this.

This is going to look so bad too if when they release Metal Gear Solid Phantom Pain they have this bundled in front as a prologue of sorts

Are there side missions, if so how long is the game, as long as I can get 5-7 hours but I doubt it.

There are side missions, not sure how many, not a great amount though. If you were to just play them all once and be done with it I'd hazard a guess at maybe... 2 hours. None of them are canon though, they're just extra.

I love MGS, but I really hope this game bombs hard. It's pretty damn grimey what Konami is attempting here. They know that the average fan will see "MGS V for next gen" and buy it immediately, expecting a full game. Little do they know they're buying a goddamn demo for $40. Such bullshit.

This release is so weird, guess you'll probably be able to get a copy for a cheap a month or two later if your fiending.

Now it's 1.5 hours?!

This deal is getting worse all the time.

I wish more developers would create an engine, create 3-4 very focused experiences with that engine 2-5 hours long and release them at the $15-$20 price point.

Blood Dragon was a great example of this.

But they played it for free. Also, it's not really a review.

?

The last 5 or so minutes is them talking about whether it's worth the price. They say things like how in 1.5 hours they had a lot more fun than they did playing other 30-40 dollar "value" games. Or how the time it takes to see the credits isn't directly related to the quality or amount of enjoyment you can get from the game.

I really can't trust their opinion on their cover story, particularly when the price point has no impact on them.

Why wouldn't you trust their opinion?

Yeah a lot of people just come here to tell you what we already know "$40 demo" without even considering watching the video, just commenting the update on the original post.

There really needs to be a warning on the box that this isn't the full game, so many people are going to buy this, complete it in 1.5 hours and be all like "what?". Feel bad for them. Konami should be fucking ashamed.

For the reasons I said. I'll accept the facts of their coverage, but their opinion on a cover story I can't get too invested in. Particularly when the price point, the key problem, isn't an issue they've had to deal with in this case.

I think that by this point, only the irrational diehard fans will be buy the game when it is launched. For the rest of us, we'd take the bundle down the line.

It doesn't fucking matter. It's a rip off. $40 for 1,5h is unacceptable, no matter the quality. Go home Kojima, you're drunk.

people should watch the Game Informer video instead of having kneejerk reactions to a title change.

Not saying anyone has to consider Ground Zeroes to be worth the money, but the people who played it seem to think it's worth it.

Ah yes, the guys who negotiated an exclusive MGS blowout think GZ is good. I, for one, am shocked.

1.5 hours. A product designed to target chumps with surgical precision.

I can't fucking believe there are people out there that would argue a "game" that is 1.5 hours long is worth $40. It doesn't fucking matter how good it is.

I wonder where these people would draw the line. If it was 30 minutes long would they be saying, "Yeah, but it's the best 30 minutes you'll ever spend"?

I hope to god people don't buy this fucking demo because it would just mean they would try this shit again.

Of course they talk about that, but it's still not a review. This is marketing. Their opinion is fair, but they tried the game without paying for it, so it's not an accurate reflection of value for money.

Fair enough, I'm pretty certain that reviews on this game will reflect the "clear time"/price ratio though so future buyers will be aware of what kind of deal they're getting into.
