Which character model is currently using the most polygons?

Any ideas?

For reference, according to the Low poly episodes in this channel, Mario's most detailed model so far on the WiiU uses a little more than 10.000 tris.

So i wonder, how many can a character use in todays best looking games on, say, a PS4? Like, for instance, the main character in Horizon looks very complex and detailed, i wonder if there is a way to see how many tris they used for her.

I imagine Drake's cutscene model or someone from UC4.
Saw someone on twitter say that 2B's butt has more polygons than the entirety of Ocarina of Time which really puts the evolution of video games into perspective.

Aloy's Hair only using 100k polygons, so she should be Around 600K-700k Polygons, Just an Estimate though, but hair thing is confirmed.Talking About Horizon zero dawn in case anyone don't know Aloy .

I think 2B's butt probably has more polygons than the entirety of Nier Automata.

Aloy in screenshots looks so detailed. Not sure if that's photo mode trickery or actual in game model

I know it shows it's generational transition and really only needed the extra juice for physics and AI, but I wonder about Trico from Last Guardian.

Nah, UC4 has quite reserved polyounts in general, pretty sure all models are under 100k polygons.

I think the Thunderjaw from Horizon has 500,000 polygons. Don't know how that stacks up against other characters though. I wouldn't be surprised if Aloy had more, or Nathan Drake from Uncharted 4.

Shouldn't the prize for most polys go to a character from a fighting game? You only have 2 characters on screen most of the time and a small area as a background after all.

It has to be one of those Horizon NPC's. Aloy looks good but there are better looking characters in the game, specially the skin, which looks natural in everyone BUT Aloy.

Fighting and racing games were the graphical showcaces by excellence before last gen. Don't know what happened.

I think they all are around 300-500K

It's worth noting that a game boasting a high poly count isn't necessarily a good thing. Ryze was able to cut ins character poly counts in half while maintaining basically all the visible detail after optimization.

As for the question at hand after some quick googling I want to say Star Citizen however I can only find hard data on ship poly counts. Character poly counts are not documented anywhere.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.

Everyone optimizes. Also "basically".

I'm probably wrong but I would assume that the budgets for fighting games haven't increased as exponentially with fighting games as they have with other genres.

No photo mode trickery this is how the model looks, she is extremely detailed.

Is this true? Her in-game hair doesn't look like 100k polygons good as that's roughly the same count as Lara's hair in RoTR but Lara's hair is way rounder when moving.

Lara's Hair is Tress Fx, so maybe totally different Tech used, also the volume of the hair is different for both the characters. And yes it is true as it comes from the Artist themselves.

I hope noone's seriously buying the whole "2B's butt has a higher polycount than the entirety of OoT" thing unsourced.

with hairworks on a wolf or bear you top this little doubt
i even suspect even geralt hairs top that
but you need a beefy nvidia card (and pc) to see that

It's amazing to think that 10 years ago, a Gmod model above 15k tris was detailed. 100k tri hair, what a time to be alive.

People posting about a butt and not posting pics? That's quite the restraint or just not wanting to get the thread locked 😂

Yeah I think Horizon must be close to the top, I noticed all the threads on one of Aloys outfits were geometry. Its an insane amount of detail.

Remember when they used the polygon pushing power of a console, graphics card or arcade hardware as a marketing term? "The Dreamcast can push 3 million polygons per second" and stuff like that. Now you have even more polygons than that on screen each frame. I wouldn't be surprised if a powerful graphics chip today could push billions of polys per second.
