TIME: The Kalief Browder Story is an upcoming six-episode American documentary television miniseries that will be broadcast on Spike on March 1, 2017. The documentary recounts the story of Kalief Browder, a 16-year-old Bronx high school student who committed suicide in 2015 after being held for three years, two of them in solitary confinement on Rikers Island for allegedly stealing a backpack.

To clear up the timeline, he was arrested at 16, case dismissed and released at 19, and ultimately committed suicide at 22.

I love that Jay-Z got political and never forgot where he came from. I'm glad he reached out to Kalief. This story is tragic and it pisses me off that there are people in this country that couldn't muster a crumbs worth of empathy for Kalief.

Don't understand how this thread doesn't have more replies. This is on Netflix now and it's fucking crazy. Definitely worth watching. It's sickening how this was allowed to happen and the documentary is sad and awful to see.
