The fact you need a Youtuber to speak your opinion says volumes.

Bayonetta 2 has better music and doesn't have QTE instant death bullshit. Instantly the better game. Also the best Bayonetta design.
shit take, it's better to quote a video on this to not make a post that reads like a diary.
Game is better than most other games on the genre, but not close to the better ones or a worthy sequel, it fucks many of the fundamentals.

So much so, that you have the fucking devs themselves showcase how they course corrected on the gameplay trailer for Bayo 3 ways of the witch.

i just recently replayed both games, Bayo 1's combat (this takes long to explain if you don't understand the combat well) , pacing and boss fights shit all over Bayo 2.

Bayo 2 has more "content" with the modes and somewhat better graphics, that's it.

I explained it many times but Bayo 2 has many problems such as enemy balancing and how Witch Time works. Take an enemy like Sloth vs. a Grace and Glory. Grace and Glory are the git good enemies that are fast and relentless. But they had a set number of moves that can do and they are telegraph and usually one attacks at a time. Also they can stop them in their tracks with PPPKKK combo. Sloth can completely ignore a bunch of attacks, including Umbra Climax, not to mention how reduced WT is.

But not to say that Bayo 2 is completely terrible it's not, because several QOL improvements over the original. It's the better looking game over the original. Newcomers have an easier time adjusting to Bayo 2 as well.

The deranged lunacy of some of these reviewers never ceases to amaze.

Anyway, good to see a Platinum game get good scores after the atomic bomb of Babylon's Fall.

Didn't think they'd be able to top the intro for bayo 2, but damm that was great.
It seems to struggle to reach 60 fps though, I feel like bayo 2 definitely ran a lot smoother overall.

If you're disappointed by the story in Bayonetta 3, that means you've had expectations of the story that were not met.
If you had expectations for the quality of the storytelling in a Platinum Games game, then you're probably not qualified to be a game critic, and you should consider a different career.

Got my Trinity Masquerade Edition from Smith's toys here in the UK and it arrived a day early. Played the first couple of levels and I'm loving it.

Can't wait to dive in to some more after work.

I guess this will serve as the |OT| thread?

I bought the game just now and it's installing. I'm part way through my first Fallout 4 playthrough, so at the moment Bayonetta will be my fallback game when I'm burned out on Fallout 4 for the day. Given past Platinum games that I've played (Bayonetta 1 & 2, Transformers Devastation, Astral Chain, Neir Automata, Wonderful 101) I'm expecting great things here.

I never did finish Bayonetta 2 because I own it on WiiU and haven't used that in a while, so it's possible I'll have no idea what's happening storywise.

Seems to just be the opening sextions. The frame rate stays pretty decent from then on, dipping only in high environment taxing areas. It's definetly not a deal breaker but also not quite as smooth as bayo 2 maybe.
I'll let digital foundry do the talking.

I think one of the best looking switch games though, image quality is great and running at 60. Other devs should be ashamed.

It's not a blur fest which is rare for a switch games.

Anyone who's given it a good go, how heavy of a reliance is there on the demon slaves?
I kinda like the character action aspects of these games, but if you have to become a puppet master often that would turn me off. I saw some reviewers talking about how this may be the case.
I prefer a tighter gaming experience focused on the character and less on gimmicks like giant monsters fighting each other with some limited amount of control.

I think the demon slaves, as you progress in the game I find the demons are very well integrated into the regular combos moves. For instance in this game instead of doing witch time you can use ZL which will bring your selected demon out for one punch instead of witch time. You can also use your demon for one punch/kick at the end of a combo. I'm only 4 hours into the game and it constantly keeps adding moves etc.

The demon controls are strange in the beginning I'm not going to lie. You get used to it though.

I think overall the demons are a great addition. The new weapon system is fantastic as well.
Every weapon has it's own animal attached to it and has a very distinct feel for traversal, I don't remember this being so pronounced in the other two games.

This is the best Bayonetta game so far. The only slight downside IS performance but again it's not a deal breaker. It Never slows down in combat situation just in traversal.

This is also SO much variety in combat. So many move lists, so many skill trees etc.

I'm kinda not the least bit surprised she's not gay and hooked up with Luca.

There have been strong indications of this since Bayo 1 and when has Bayonetta ever shown signs of being gay except in the headcannon of weird people?

Yeah at first it feel like wtf am I doing, but then you realise you're playing bayonetta and you should really just be moving in and out of demon slave while doing combos, or when trying to finish with a torture attack.
It feels really smooth when you get used to it.

Games like this really make me with for a Switch Pro or PC port. It's getting rough playing with sub-720p visuals at 25fps.

She's certainly been disinterested in men, but never interested in women. I think people misunderstood. She just kind of doesn't think of anyone as worthy of her affection

It's definelty not that bad. We'll wait for foundry for the full review of it. If you've just started the game you get a bad first impression but it gets a lot better.

On the TV this is defiantly hitting at least 900p in most cases. I almost find 720P unplayable so I'd know if it was that low.
I can't tell you how many great games on Switch I've had to get through with blurry visuals. Triangle Strategy was such a disappointment for the type of game that it was for instance.

I'm having a blast with it, and yes I know that nintendo is the entire reason the franchise is still alive, but I can 't help keep thinking how beautifully it would run on my i9 109/6700xt.....

Her whole interactions with Luka os mirroring japanese anime where you have the action girl with the nerdy/needy boy that follows her.

And that second part is just nonensense/does a massive disservice to Bayo's charachter. One of the major themes in the series is motherhood. Completely obvious with Cereka in Bayo 1 which she treats very protective, like you would a little child, and then even with Loki in Bayo 2 as a bratty teen. Bayonetta has a huge heart and displays so multiple times in the series. A domineering attitude doesn't mean you don't care.

This ending has been, if anything, obvious.

Just got a switch and was ready to buy it until I saw the character … wtf this bgtlptqu + genders . Cowboys high heels make up ケバイ。。。やだやだやだ

I never played bayonetta 2 and 3, but looking at the gameplay videos on youtube, is it me or the fighting mechanics for bayonetta 3 all over the place? I am coming from playing bayonetta 1. Here is what I noticed:

-Hardly anyone uses witch time, or it is very hard to execute
-witch time doesn't last very long
-The demon slave summoning is over used and gets in the way. Its like "oh ma gawd, lets just smash and kill all the enemies at once"
-no one uses juggles in mid air to execute combos
-no one uses tortures to finish
-godzilla type fights with painfully limited movements and attacks: looks boring as fuck. I mean what the fuck with madama butterfly blowing bubbles with this one boss fight?
-Where are the fucking weapons from bayonetta 1 and 2? Such as the whiplash, katana, durga, etc?!
-Jeanne looks like a hideous drag queen clown with seizure inducing outfit. Not classy and sassy.
-Viola is just stupid. No back story except little hints.

The lumen sages, and father balder (except for this weird alter luka) are missing?! The right eye couldn't be used to kick the homunculus's ass?! Their clan was not affected by any of the events in this game?

The story is just... wtf?!

looks like frustrating game with annoyances coming from veterans who played bayonetta 1

I'm fucking LOVING this, the combat is smooth and satisfying and I like how instant you can summon your Demon.

I also LOOOVE there is a nice Astral Chain easter egg.

Finished the prologue. I do have to admit you can actually notice the blurry image quality. It kinda hinders the fights at times. The framerate hasn't been a big deal yet.

Game is a ton of fun so far. The title screen hit me right away. The intro is great and really feels like a cheesy throwback to a lost era of fun gaming. Nostalgic and new at once.

Early impressions are very good with some caveats. And also Madama Butterfly is just so cool.
