Got it preordered on amazon. Can't wait for the epic conclusion.
A bit OT, but figured this was the best place to ask since google makes it confusing, what is the deal with Corpse Party 2: Dead Patient? It seems like it was oddly enough, only released on pc, and only a chapter? Is that Chapter basically the size of a full game and it means its CP2-1 like the current three NA games are like 1-1, 1-2, and 1-3 or is it literally only one chapter? Also confusing is that it seems like the first chapter was quite awhile ago and the second chapter has been in development hell or something. I just can't find a definitive answer via googling so does anyone know?
Also does anyone know what the chances are that CP2P will eventually come out on Vita (or if Vita is dead by then PS4 or 3DS) or is it going to be stuck on pc? I love these types of horror games and wouldn't want to miss it. Have a barely functioning pc and don't have the money to buy a real one (tho CP2 might be the game to push me to get a pc) so just want to know the chances of it being ported. Tho I guess noone may know yet, just needed to ask.
Yep, that'll get you right where you need to be. That and a set of headphones. Don't play this series without headphones. For someone trying to get into the series, would this be the way?
Corpse Party BloodCovered: ...Repeated Fear
Corpse Party: Book of Shadows
then Blood Drive?
Corpse Party 2 is more or less in limbo right now. It was originally intended as an episodic game to be released in installments but those plans more or less fell apart shortly after the first chapter was released back in May 2013 (due to an intended game engine change as Tom noted above).
All you really need to know about it is that it was set 5 years after the events of Blood Drive and effort was made to respect the continuity loosely hinted at between it and the original trilogy when Blood Drive hit Vita last July.
There is a rough English patch out there if you're willing to import the game but considering that it's going to inevitably be overhauled from scratch if it ever sees the light of day, I wouldn't stress about it too much.
It's literally just one chapter. That's how the first Corpse Party on PC was released, too -- though it's supposedly a game from 2008, that's actually just when chapter 1 was released. Chapter 5 didn't come out until after the PSP game in 2010, believe it or not! So if people wanted to see the conclusion to the story of Corpse Party 1, their first opportunity was, in fact, the PSP game, *not* the Windows "original."
(It's because of this that the PC version of chapter 5 is actually in some ways better than the PSP version, since it had a little longer to "cook.")
Think of it kind of like Telltale Games' episodic adventure titles for PC -- The Walking Dead, for instance, didn't come out all at once but in "episodes." Same with Back to the Future.
In the case of Corpse Party 2: Dead Patient, the reason chapter 2 hasn't come out yet -- as I understand it, anyway -- is because the developers are redoing chapter 1 in Unity first. The current chapter 1 was programmed in HSP (the same programming language as the first Corpse Party game for Windows), and as a result, it's a bit on the buggy side. Unity is a far more stable platform to work with, so the devs decided to convert the whole game over to it, much as Sara is doing with the first Corpse Party game (converting the whole thing from HSP to C++). And just as it's taking Sara a long time to convert Corpse Party 1, it's taking GrindHouse a long time to convert Corpse Party 2 -- but I'm guessing the end result will be well worth it!
As far as I know, there are currently no plans to port Dead Patient over to any systems other than PC, and I doubt any such plans will even be considered until ALL chapters of Dead Patient have been released. Which, if the first game is any indication, could quite literally take years to happen.

Dammit, and I also got Dragon Quest Heroes on the same day.
Will be getting it though, perfect Halloween game.
You probably can't answer this since it's Europe-related but do you know if any european edition (regular/Everafter/Heavenly Host) has that reversible cover?Minus a few blacked-out faces, yes.
And the LE cover is the one with Ayumi literally carrying a cross.

Any news yet if the first two games are going on sale?

Heads up:
Just preordered the Heavenly Host Edition (EU). There are only 40 of those (EU) LEs left, so you guys might want to bite NOW.
Haven't played a single Corpse Party game yet but have been wanting to get into the franchise for a while now. Can I just like, buy the first two games on PSN and play them on my PSTV? Don't exactly feel like dusting off my psp but I guess I'll do what I'll have to do.
Far as I know, Europe's using the same template as we are, so the European editions *should* have the reversible cover. As you suspected, though, I can't say for sure -- only someone from Marvelous Europe would be able to answer that question definitively.
Awesome, thanks.Someone from Marvelous said that that's the plan. Can't give you a source right now though!
EDIT: found it

Yeah, both of them are fully compatible with PSTV, so you absolutely can (and definitely should before playing Blood Drive!).
I just hope you have a good sound system, because the 3D sound in these games is very much a part of the experience.

Does the game have any kind of DLC?
Thanks. I prefer my games to not have (forced) touchscreen features so it's fineNone whatsoever.
It's actually kind of an oddity on Vita, as it uses almost no Vita features -- there's not even any touchscreen functionality. As in, the touchscreen (and rear touch pad) don't do anything at all during the game (except during save menus and such, but that's all part of the Vita system software, not the game).
The most "Vita" it gets is awarding trophies and supporting the dual analog sticks.
...And utilizing the OLED screen to good effect for lighting and shadows, of course.

(Localization blog 2 for Corpse Party: Blood Drive)
For those of you who are mathematically-challenged, both Corpse Party: Blood Covered Repeated Fear (aka Corpse Party) and Corpse Party: Book of Shadows will be available for $9.99 each this Tuesday (at Grace Chen time). You'll have a full two weeks to binge play these until Blood Drive hits on the 13th.And speaking of giving it a look, we’re making that easier than ever for you guys: as of this coming Tuesday, both Corpse Party and Corpse Party: Book of Shadows will be 50% off on the North American PlayStation®Store (not in Europe, I’m afraid – sorry! – but both games are readily available on the EU PSN for a modest price anyway, so don’t let that stop you!). They’re PSP games, but they’re both fully compatible with the Vita and PSTV too, so if you’ve been missing out all this time, now is absolutely your best chance to catch up before Blood Drive’s debut next month.
I'm more than okay with that as pretty much every other Vita feature will feel unnecessary if your game isn't called Tearaway. The most "Vita" it gets is awarding trophies and supporting the dual analog sticks.
...And utilizing the OLED screen to good effect for lighting and shadows, of course.

Yeah, it's unsurprising as 2U sounds like a beyond niche spin-off. Not sure I'll miss it TBH.Also, that blog post was the nail in the coffin for 2U, unsurprisingly. It's being fan translated, though(albeit very slowly), so no big deal.
They did a great job with the pacing and tension-building in this chapter. It was riveting on its own and it's even better as a set up for Blood Drive directly as it puts you in precisely the frame of mind you need to be in heading into this final installment. Finally got to play the prequel chapter after buying BoS when it came out. Holy crap, that last bit was intense, totally ready for Blood Drive now.

And the opening seconds of Blood Drive quite literally kick off with the last seconds of Book of Shadows prior to setting up the core plot that takes place two months afterwards. It's pretty darn essential.
i played the original on psp. is this a sequel to that?
This looks interesting, but I didn't play the previous entries. Would that be a problem to play this?
I'm legit confused why people say Vita is dead when I see new releases on the horizon all the time

The cover art of this game bugs me. Idk what it is about it but it makes me physically unsettled.
As addressed in my blog post ( http://xseedgames.tumblr.com/post/129880129270/corpse-party-blood-drive-localization-blog-2 ), the answer is mostly yes, but if you reeeeeeally want to play Blood Drive first, you can -- I just would strongly recommend against it.
Honestly, the original Corpse Party is my favorite anyway, so I'd really suggest picking that up after it goes on sale this coming Tuesday and playing that, then deciding if this series is one you want to continue with. It's one of the best horror games I've ever played, and is absolutely worth the $9.99 asking price (and then some!).
-Tom
You'd be doing yourself a huge disservice not to play them. Besides the fact it would be really difficult to get up to speed on the characters and the situation they've found themselves in, they're just awesome games (first one in particular) that deserve to be played.
Play them. The first one is an amazing game.
That entirely depends on how many of the Wrong Ends you actively seek out. Thanks for answering
I'll try the first game.
How long are the two prequels?
