Are MS still looking for tools? If so maybe you should give them your location.
Looking forward to the game that puts lost tools in a game as an easter egg haha

Wasn't this because thats how it was on PS4Pro and XB1? Wouldnt this indicate that it's more a Gearbox, as developer, thing? and less about the "specs/perf" of these amazing next gen consoles? The PS5 version had better foliage and better shadows, didn't it?
you go ask them, they are clear in the video, Take your loss and be quiet.
there is always something up with the xbox crowd, game missing shit all over the place, parity with sony's system and it is suddenly pulling shit from your arse.
How many of the last comparisons has this been going on for, we had 4 or 5 games now and there is always something missing, some excuse, show me those 12 tflops not parity please,

Yeah, this is getting overlooked.Ugh... people keep bragging about better foilage and shadows, instead of being upset that the devs released an upscaled version of the XB1 and PS4 version of the game.... IDK what everyone is bragging or so happy about... we waited for an upscale patch essentially.
If Sony fans can wait for basic functionality like an active SSD bay and VRR, Xbox fans can wait for improved development tools. Neither console is flawless.Looking forward to the game that puts lost tools in a game as an easter egg haha
It does appear to be upgraded BC which begs the question of the narrative when Cyberpunk comes out.Yeah, this is getting overlooked.
This is a next gen version? Why isn't this just BC enhanced?

No it wasn't it was the same situation, as it is now.. same resolution same advantages... its the SAME GAMES AT 4K... they just upped the res and unlocked the frames to 60 or 120...
Advantage in this how?
Foliage issue is due to Gearbox porting One X version without changing anything. One X version has foliage issue which carry forward to SX and S but its not on PS4 and Pro and Pro has higher shadows than One X. So it proves Gearbox just brute forcing SX hardware power with no optimisation
Rest everything hardly different.
So, One X performed better, had lower details. Was clearly the stronger console. You're pulling advantages out of your ass. The lower details with BL3 were already an issue last gen, where the XOX was clearly the stronger performing machine compared to the PS4Pro. So ask Gearbox why they are too lazy to fix the issue.
This really does just look like the one x and ps4 pro games running in Bc mode but with a 60fps cap and higher max dynamic res. Gearbox so minimum effort is pretty expected these days unfortunately.

Didn't MS state they would work with developers to improve performance too though? You've already acknowledged development tools improve throughout a generation so unless you are saying MS will remain stagnant while Sony advances my point remains. Both of these consoles will see advancements and we'll see how much it changes as time goes on. Calling out MS' tools like Sony isn't missing critical functionality is pretty funny though. Glasshouses and all that. There is a difference though. VRR is coming, as confirmed by PS5.
There is no such definite reality for "Improved development tools". Development tools keep improving throughout the gen, right until the very last day. And that will happen for both consoles for years; it's an evolutionary process.
Xbox fans want quality games like everyone who owns a console. It sucks when your version of a game is stuttering and crashing while other console games don't have those problems. Developers and gamers alike want a quality product.I think it would be more the developers who would want something like improved development tools ASAP rather than Xbox fans.
Unless everyone who is an Xbox fan is also a developer?

So in reality for most gamers not much difference.
But loading is better on ps5, still too long and not fully utilising hardware yet.
Higher quality shadows on ps5 and higher foliage.
Equal performance in 60fps despite ps5 readings slightly higher as above.
Slight advantage on series x in 120 but only really in that scene, funny its used as the decider when its not even a total scene lock, there's are differences in camera etc and also fluctuations higher and lower on each but ok slight xbox advantage in that driving scene.
But not the mode itself.
Even in other scenes ps5 does better and this scene favours ps5 in 120 fps...
Can't really call a total win in that mode excluding vrr, that definitely is an advantage for those 52 people that have it.
But seems to me the performance is not clear cut and as said goes up and down on both yet he called it based on one such scene.... thats as daft as calling it a ps5 win in 120fps based on that indoor scene I posted.
Notice though rather than talk about ps5 advantage in that scene the talk over is praising xbox crucial advantage in having vrr. Surely better to mention this consistent advantage for ps5 there like in the xbox scene but no....
Would like to see a vg tech numbers sheet.
Several details, including the shadows were the same on both PS4 Pro and Xbox One X.

Since the PS5 shipped with only 600GB of storage an active SSD bay was critical friend. VRR has already shown how it can considerably smooth out framerates in games. As Heisenberg007 already said "Development tools keep improving throughout the gen, right until the very last day. And that will happen for both consoles for years; it's an evolutionary process. " Sometimes you don't start with perfect dev tools but thankfully it gets better with time. Don't know why its a joke for MS now when people were completely content to wait for the PS3 to start outshining the X360.Since when are things like VRR and active internal storage expansion "critical functionality"?
One would think that enabling developers to actually develop games to the best of their ability would be the most important thing to get sorted out prior to the launch of a console but apparently not...
We'll agree to disagree. You might never want an active SSD bay with only 600GB of space but PLENTY of people do. Some are right here on this forum. It should have been ready from the start. VRR too.1. VRR and expandable storage are in no way "critical" functionalities.
2. And I said that both APIs will improve with time -- it seems we agree on this point.
My only point is that because Sony's API will also improve, I don't think it's a valid argument by some fans to chalk the lack of XSX advantage completely to "tools". There is no evidence to suggest that XSX performance will increase by 40% (and PS5's remain stagnant at 0%), so XSX goes from -10% to +30%, giving it the pre-launch 30% advantage over PS5.
I don't see it happening. I think we will continue to see comparisons like these where both consoles trade blows and gaining very small advantages over each other in different games or modes. Except for UE5 games, where I think PS5 will get ahead.
Where are these performance percentage narratives coming from? I see them pop up quite often in Gaf threads. Ah, so unsubstantiated warrior fuel then?Xbox Fanboys have made this claim.

Self requested.Whoa OP got banned?
Well that destroys another baseless narrative I'm seeing in this thread. That the Series X and PS5 are basically running the last gen versions but at higher res and framerate. This is simply not the case, if it were the Series X version wouldn't be missing details and having worse shadows compared to the PS5 version.Several details, including the shadows were the same on both PS4 Pro and Xbox One X.
Very true. i roll my eyes when people act like because Series X has VRR it means it's handling the engine better than PS5. It's a feature that has nothing at all to do with the game's engine performance. It's also a feature that Sony has claimed will be getting patched into the PS5 very soon. What's going to happen when PS5 gets the feature? Are goal posts going to be moved again?Remember that the VRR feature has nothing to do with the performance of the game's graphics engine.
So citing it as an advantage is just dishonesty.
1. VRR and expandable storage are in no way "critical" functionalities.
I didn't know what VRR was until I started switching it on and off. When it is off even at 110fps, you see the screen tear, when VRR is on you don't. It is a big feature and the sooner PS5 gets it the better.
So if you hate graphics and flora go for Xbox for even more empty world and lack of foliage with worse shadows. XSX dropped to 81fps in their footage but they pressed hard to give some sort of one win out of all losses in this game modes and graphics.
It's getting boring winning on every game. But I'm being told...

It's a very useful feature; I'm not denying its importance at all. My only point is that a very, very small percentage of people can actually be benefited from it as of now. Besides, PS5 is expected to get it in the next 3 months or so.
This without text....
So auto HDR isn’t an advantage either? I swear the mental gymnastics some of you go through in the name of a plastic box are just next level.Remember that the VRR feature has nothing to do with the performance of the game's graphics engine.

True but it’s a temporary advantage: https://wccftech.com/ps5-vrr-support-to-be-added-in-future-software-update-sony-confirms/Xbox uses VRR, PS5 doesn't.

You and Sony can say it’s coming all you want, but why wasn’t it there day 1? Why isn’t it there now? How long have they been making this console for? Can’t have a basic hdmi2.1 standard feature implemented after years of development? Seems weird.True but it’s a temporary advantage: https://wccftech.com/ps5-vrr-support-to-be-added-in-future-software-update-sony-confirms/
It's weird that you never seems to ask yourself the same questions about games. So you wouldn’t cite the dual sense controller as an advantage then, right?

The ps5 version has. .. a better controller.. . IS THIS HARD TO UNDERSTAND?
Can you dispute the above? no, you can't, take your loss and move on.

Easy. Take your symmetrical sticks, and shove them where the sun don't shine.
