This is nothing but a blatant cash grab on Beauty and the Beasts legacy but Emma as Belle? In that yellow dress? I'm okay with this.

What's with all these Disney animated films being remade as live action films? Got Peter Pan, Cinderella, two Jungle Book films and now this.

Every upcoming film needs to be based on a comic book or a fairy tale apparently.

Yeah she'll do it well, the CGI on the beast better be good though or shit is gonna look weird.

I got you

Liam Neeson as Mufasa
Leonardo Dicaprio as Simba
Kevin Spacey as Scar.
Zoe Salamadlami as the girl lion

Danny Devito as Pumba

And all wearing loincloths and body paint.

Gonna call this now -- it's gonna be a surprise hit. People will be expected another lame movie like Maleficent and (guessing here) Cinderella but having all the songs and such is going to recapture the magic.

Quote me on it.

Lame live-action fairy tales movies we've had recently:

Alice in Wonderland
Snow White and the Huntsman
Mirror Mirror
Jack the Giant Slayer
Hansel And Gretel
Maleficent
Red Riding Hood

Why is this going to be any different?

I now need to wash off the filthy realization that I've watched most of these for some inexplicable reason.

I don't understand why everyone is complaining about live action, surely you've all seen the 1946 Jean Cocteau classic La Belle et la Bête staring Jean Marais and Josette Day. Surely.

Maleficent was alright.
Even Mirror Mirror i didn't outright hate (though it wasn't good).

I'm just surprised Emma Watson can find the time to pencil Disney in. One would think with all the waves she's been making that her dance card was already full. I guess sleep is overrated though. And money's always good.

...

Anyway, good for her. I feel similarly about this as I do about Gracepoint. (Weird comparison, but go with me here...) It seems redundant and irrelevant, but if they really want to pay an actor I greatly admire to do it, then more power to them.

I don't even remember her being that bad in Noah, just overacting a bit in a couple of scenes.

I think she's a cool person and could work well as Belle. It's a bit amusing due to the Hermione parallel too.

Damnit, she was supposed to be Del Toro's Belle.
I was confused when I saw this news since there was a thread or two about 3 years ago about her already being cast. But I guess that was for Del Toro's movie, or when it was uncertain which she would end up with.

What a horrible fit. Belle has feminine features.

Belle also has an adventurous personality. In the few different roles I've seen Watson outside of Potter I still don't see her as a good fit for Belle. Using her name power is a mistake.

evan stone as gaston. he can be the next big porn breakout.

He's got the look but not the personality.

Kevin Sorbo would honestly be a better Gaston. It's really sad Hercules turned out to be a smug asshole.

I think the best part of this post is calling Rupert Grint by his character name.

Isn't his IMDB page now officially Weasley?

Oh, so will Disney now just start doing live action versions of all their animated films? Apparently making animated versions of old fairy tales wasn't unoriginal enough.

I didn't expect so many people to get up in arms about my comment. I am primarily referring to Emma Watson's boy-ish face and figure. She would make a great Naoto in a Persona movie. However, I also think she lacks feminine charm and elegance. Belle is probably my favorite Disney princess, so this is a particularly irksome miscast for me.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as Gaston.
That would be a great fit.

Now, who's going to play Gaston or the Beast?
If Gaston isn't played by that perfect park employee from that thread, it'll be a disappointment. I don't even care if he's not an "actor".

So, is Disney just going to keep releasing live versions of all their old animated fairy tales?

If so, will there be an Aladdin?

If so, who will be Jasmine? She's my favorite.

Also, is Aladdin even a fairy tale?

Also, who will play Iago?
lol

Between Alice in Wonderland and Maleficent can we stop making these awful live action adaptations?

Angelina Jolie didn't do it for you in Maleficent? ...me either.
