Playstation games PSing all over the weekly Nintendo Top 10. Disgusting.

All things considered good sales for Like A Dragon and Persona. Both over 1mil just after release worldwide. Will probably get to 2mil and a little beyond.

I imagine they probably had reasonable budgets too. Persona 3 very simple presentation and Like A Dragon despite its huge scope is always an iterative development. Reusing and building everything from the previous games.

Like a Dragon has a brand new map this game, but to your point they will probably reuse it in future games. The first Like a Dragon game with Kasuga introduced a new map and it has already been reused like 3 or 4 times lol

Top game selling 16k is a pretty boring week lol. Momotaro is inching toward a million. Shiren looks to have done pretty well!

For sure it's probably the most high budget one yet. But also I think they reused a ton for Hawaii from all the other locations they've created. Not complaining though as it's very impressive.

They still have the same like 5 NPC heads appear in sub stories, its so funny seeing the same heads appear with different clothes throughout the game. Part of me wonders if it would really be that expensive to at least add a few more each game for variety, but at the same time it doesn't matter and I would rather the game be profitable so that we can keep getting more of them.

Yup, making sure these games are viable is the most important thing. I like their current approach with small but noticeable tech/visual/feature improvements with each release. Build upon what they have rather than take the risk of going nuts rebooting the series with a ridiculous budget which may crash and burn.

Wait... how am I just noticing this?

PS4 did a lifetime of around 8M in Japan? And the PS5, after a little over 3 years, is already at 5.2M?

Crazy right? Funny enough, even though it's the literal biggest Playstation of all time, Japan loves it.

Especially if one skipped the ps4 in Japan, for whatever reason, the ps5 is even more enticing

Here’s hoping it continues to carve out a healthy userbase and surpasses the ps4 lifetime

regarding the switch, the OLED model is clearly the best selling one. If switch 2 comes with lcd, as rumoured, i wonder what route they’ll take. Perhaps a new cheapo switch (a la new 2DS XL) afterwards to entice people towards a new cheaper hardware model

Or maybe a price drop on the regular switch is all they will need to do

Those lite and regular sales - both are already cheaper than oled but they are really a fraction of the total sales

I just don’t see them keeping oled model in the market after the successor drops

Its selling noticeably more hardware and probably noticeably less software than PS4, which makes me think a large part of PS5's growth is driven by popular F2P games like Honkai Star Rail.

I always thought the idea that Japan won't buy big consoles was nonsense. I guess this proves it.
