If only there was a way to sell this game to more people who didn't play the 3DS version.
Science isnt far enough yet.

I'll admit it, those numbers were a bit hyperbole But i'm curious what people think could be done differently to really make a big difference, and what was expected if those things had been done.
300k is technically possible i think. I think most have played it on 3DS though, so it depends on how many double dippers there are.Fiendcode posted in the last Media Create Thread:

So if it has decent legs it can reach Capcom's expectations (which are usually too high)
Hey, Knack had 100% attach rate FW!yes I personally expected 500k FW on a ~500k userbase.
It came from an investment firm after meeting with Capcom. We don't know where the target originated though, at Capcom or the analyst.
It's not "bullshit made up" anyway.
What do you mean? I told you that those numbers were hyperbole. I'm curious to what people were expecting if things were done differently. I didnt make any predictions myself. Disregards the numbers i mentioned. So the game that opened at 84k would have more than quintupled it's sales and have a near 50 percent attach rate if it launched a few months earlier?
Doesnt change the fact that its a frigging monster hunter game in hd on a console that is all the rage in japan.
Hd ports dont have too much trouble selling on switch, even if some of it could be attributed a relatively smaller library to choose from.and this still applies to monhun... Expected way more tbh..
I dont want capcom to be getting retarded messages from this
First 1 on 1 SW vs PS4 battle, right?

If they are real then I think Capcom won't announce MHW targets so they can put a positive spin on it. Sort of like they did Dragon's Dogma, even though it missed the announced targets. If somehow these numbers are Capcom's official forecast, which is very doubtful, they are preparing for big underperformance with MHW and FY total software.
Making a PS4 port instead, prepping people for MHW.Ayyyyy Lmao. If only there was another option 🤔

I'm not sure what to think. The targets seem unbelievable but then it's Capcom. If you believe these numbers for Switch you must believe the numbers for MHW too.

It's a late port of a Monster Hunter game that came out in March and already sold over a million copies. If Capcom had any foresight at all, and I have to stress that they don't, this should have been out near the launch of the Switch, if not day and date with the 3DS version.

It will def. reach those targets since it will be the only MH game on Switch for a while....after the Holiday season it will probably be already there. But its not a new game, so i dont see why anyone would expect a massive FW.Fiendcode posted in the last Media Create Thread:

That would just eat into 3DS sales. What's the point? Even in hindsight I can't see a situation where they'd sell more units of the game had they released it on Switch as well in March. What was the Switch install base at in March or near March and why would you think they would have sold more copies of MHXX in total? Sure, you'd probably see slightly higher sales for the Switch version, but at the cost of reduced 3DS sales, so really, what's the point?
Why didn't Capcom announce targets then? For comparison they announced XX targets before the game itself was even announced.Seriously now? Where does this whole doom and gloom ends for MHW? I mean, most people in the MC threads called the game bomba right after the announcement, i guess that was their prediction but this has gone too far...
Can you people wait for the game to come out at least instead of saying how bad it will sell in every thread? It's getting really annoying and we passed the '' prediction time'' long time ago.
Yeah, i agree. I was mostly just joking with that alternative I dont think Capcom could have done things much differently that would have resulted in a lot more sales for the game overall. Releasing it earlier might have increased the sales some, but by a noticeably larger margin? I dont know. And i agree that userbase isnt that much of an issue either, indeed.Ayyy lmao. Certainly an inventive alternative. If it could only pull those numbers on Switch though not much hope for better on PS4. Userbase size isn't the limiting factor for a sub 100k performance.

I think it would have done better if it was out before the World announcement. Not like a ton better, but better.
Bigger issue is the lack of localization IMO. It could do pretty well this holiday I reckon.
Don't forget the fall of Resident Evil and Dead Rising. And soon MVC.Capcom, 2019
Monster Hunter Handheld series - dead
Monster Hunter World - flopped
Street Fighter - dead

What does World, a home console exclusive MonHun have to do with a portable console MonHun though?

MHXX reception wasn't so hot by fans in Japan (which isn't surprising given the many flaws of the game) so to be honest, the only thing that hurt MHXX's lower sales on 3DS and Switch was... MHXX.

I agree, but I also believe that it is in Capcom's best interest in protecting their market. Let's say that that a better timing would have traded XX sales for ~50k in the Switch from the 3DS. That is 50k Switches playing MH afteschool instead of Splatoon or any other of the local LAN games that Nintendo is pushing on the system.
I honestly don't understand this argument I keep seeing. You really think announcing the next mainline game in the franchise not for the system, and then heavily advertising the mainline game in the weeks before launch has no impact on Monster Hunter fans who might have jumped in if they thought the series was staying on Switch?
I know I know- home console games do not sell as well as portable games. But to then claim there is literally zero overlap and that there are basically 2 completely separate fanbases seems asinine.
It'll be a re-release of USF2 with a new character (Angel Ken) for full price.
